This article presents a switched‐mode transmitter architecture using a current mode class‐D (CMCD) amplifier. To achieve high average efficiency for a modulated signal the envelope of the complex baseband signal is transformed into pulses such that the CMCD amplifier is operated either at its peak efficiency or completely switched off. The CMCD amplifier has been designed based on single‐tone active harmonic load‐pull measurements to achieve a power‐added efficiency (PAE) of 61.5% with 25 W output power at 900 MHz using LDMOS FETs. Removing the losses of the demodulation filter and of the amplifier a 10% higher efficiency than in an ideal class‐B amplifier can be obtained for burst‐mode operation with a peak‐to‐average power ratio of 10 dB. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. For the first time, the numerical real-frequency technique has been applied to the design of a nonlinear power amplifier. This synthesis technique does not require any transistor model by directly using measured large-signal S-parameters of the power transistor device. The double power-frequency dependence of these S-parameters requires the use of a bidimensional interpolation (spline functions). With the Levenberg–Marquardt optimization and large-signal S-parameters, a specific CAD program optimizes the added-power in order to synthesize the matching networks of the PA. This work presents a low cost 3-D location system based on ultrasonics and implemented with low-cost FPGAs. The mobile nodes of the system use distance estimation to several anchor points in order to trilaterate their positions with an accuracy of few centimeters. The ultrasonic transducers are handled with an ad hoc conditioning circuit based on instrumental amplifiers which provides high amplification keeping low noise. The proposed system is autonomous so there is no need of an external PC or other devices. A prototype of the system has been attached to a mobile robot to check the viability of the location system in a real scenario. 相似文献

In this paper, we propose a new approach for the robust design of complementary metal‐oxide‐semiconductor amplifiers based on settling‐time specifications. The approach is based on the definition of the separation factors and on the analysis of their role in the settling time. We define a design strategy for being certain that an OTA satisfies the settling‐time constraint under any statistical variation of process or design parameters. The proposed strategy is applied to the transistor level design of a two‐stage amplifier and a three‐stage one. We demonstrate, for the first time, an 12 mm × 12 mm 0.5%Nd,5% Y:CaF2 crystal rod having a uniformly-distributed fluorescence spectrum and capable of operating as an amplifying medium at high repetition frequencies. A small gain of 2.7 is experimentally achieved at repetition frequency of 10 Hz for a pump center wavelength of 802 nm, power and absorption efficiency, 61.2 kW and 63.7%, respectively. Spatial-uniformity degradation of the output near-field beam distribution is observed, which should be attributed to the inhomogeneity of Nd,Y:CaF2 crystal. For a pump power of 61.2 kW, the stored energy of Nd,Y:CaF2 amplifier is 3.73 J. When the input energy is 50 mJ, the output laser energy is 1.4 J of extraction efficiency up to 37.53% after four-pass amplification. 相似文献

In this paper, a multi-stage noise-shaping (MASH) sigma-delta (ΣΔ) modulator is proposed to be used in low oversampling ratio (OSR) applications. It utilizes a noise-shaped two-step (NSTS) analog-to-digital converter (ADC) in the second stage and benefits its inter-stage gain to provide an extra attenuation of the quantization noise such that the same specifications of a traditional modulator are achieved but with a lower order of noise-shaping. Furthermore, large number of bits is resolved in the second stage while equal number of comparators is used. Compared to the single-loop NSTS ADC, in the proposed structure, the complexity problem of the feedback path and coefficient spreading are eliminated. As an example, a MASH 2-1 sigma-delta modulator has been designed and simulated in a 90 nm CMOS process using Spectre. The achieved resolution is 13.44 effective number of bits in 6.25 MHz signal bandwidth while consuming 19.6 mW power from a single 1 V supply. The sampling frequency is 100 MHz and the simulated figure of merit is 141 fJ/conv-step which shows the efficiency of the proposed modulator. 相似文献
