Computation of Bearing Capacity Factor Nγ?Terzaghi’s Mechanism

A procedure based on K?tter’s equation is developed for the evaluation of bearing capacity factor Nγ with Terzaghi’s mechanism. Application of K?tter’s equation makes the analysis statically determinate, in which the unique failure surface is identified using force equilibrium conditions. The computed Nγ values are found to be higher than Terzaghi’s value in the range 0.25–20%, with a diverging trend for higher values of angle of soil internal friction. A fairly good agreement is observed with other solutions which are based on finite difference coupled with associated flow rule, limit analysis, and limit equilibrium. Finally, the comparison with available experimental results vis-à-vis other solutions shows that, computed Nγ values are capable of making a reasonably good prediction.     

聚脲基脂及其在电机轴承上的应用

钻井井架力学性能分析

钻井井架作为钻机系统设备中的关键部分,其力学性能直接关系到整套钻机系统的安全生产。文章推导了常用于分析钻井井架力学性能的理论,即线性屈曲、几何非线性和双重非线性理论。提出同时用这三种理论对钻井井架进行综合比较分析,从而合理地预见井架力学性能的方法。以A形钻井井架为例,进行了详细的分析,得到了井架的失稳形式、极限承载、破坏特征及薄弱部位,为钻井井架的设计、优化与评定提供了参考。     

文东油田连续气举优化配气数学模型建立及应用

针对连续气举在开发过程中出现的注入气利用效率低、综合效益差的问题，建立了供气能力有限时的优化配气数学模型，给出了解析法求解过程。文东油田现场试验表明，应用该技术可以实现连续气举井的合理配气，并提高油井产量，适合在油田推广应用。     

浅谈电梯选型应注意的问题

电梯选型配置问题是个十分有实际意义的话题。本文结合作者多年来检测检验电梯的经验，浅谈几点选型配置应注意的问题。     

Functional and sensory properties of chicken meat from spent-hen carcasses deboned manually or mechanically in Jordan

Samples of chicken meat from spent laying hens were obtained by four different methods: (1) manual deboning of whole carcasses; (2) manual deboning of skinned carcasses; (3) mechanical deboning of whole carcasses; and (4) mechanical deboning of skinned carcasses. The meat was packaged, frozen and stored at ?18 °C for up to 3 months. Functional properties studied were pH, emulsifying capacity (EC) and water‐holding capacity (WHC) and, in addition, pigment concentration was investigated. Sensory properties included aroma, colour, texture and overall acceptability, as judged by a trained panel using a nine‐point hedonic scale. Removal of the skin prior to deboning by either method gave significantly higher values (P < 0.05) for EC, while WHC values were not significantly different among the experimental treatments, despite higher pH values for mechanically‐deboned meat, with and without skin. Pigment concentrations were highest in meat from Treatment 4 and lowest for Treatment 1, but values for both methods of deboning were affected by the presence of skin. There were no significant differences between treatments for any of the sensory properties studied. Changes occurring in the meat during frozen storage are described.     

Frequency response function of magnetic bearings using high-temperature superconductor

A high-temperature superconductor YBa₂Cu₃O_7-x with strong pinning force has allowed stable magnetic suspension with no control to be developed. Two types of superconducting magnetic bearings (SMB) using YBCO and permanent magnet were assembled. The two types are radial and axial. The dynamic stiffness of each SMB as it was cooled down under a magnetic field by liquid nitrogen was measured both radially and axially. As a result, it was found that the spring constants of these SMBs were almost as large as a practically desirable value; however, their damping coefficients were lower than the practical level. These findings are useful as one of the data bases for development of an optimum SMB design to support the weight of rotors in an axial direction.     

An examination of the effect of composite constituent properties on the notched-strength performance of composite materials

The effect of matrix and fiber properties on the strengths and failure processes of notched, continuous-fiber composite specimens has been investigated. Bearing, open and filled hole tension and compression tests were conducted on AS-4/3501-6, IM-8/3501-6, AS-4/APC-2 and IM-8/APC-2 specimens. Failure characteristics of tested specimens were studied by fractographic techniques. Failure progression was tracked by means of incremental loading, radiography and fractographic inspection.
