An investigation of induced voltages to an underground gas pipeline from an overhead transmission line

This paper investigates induced voltage characteristics from an overhead transmission line by applying a method of modeling of induced voltages proposed by the authors. EMTP simulation results obtained by the modeling method agree with analytical results obtained from a well‐known formula. The induced voltages are significantly dependent on the configuration of the overhead line. A horizontal line induces the largest voltage in a gas pipeline, and the voltage induced by a vertical twin‐circuit line is about 20% smaller than that induced by a vertical single‐circuit line. The method is applied to a real pipeline system and the simulation results show reasonable agreement with field test results. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Simulation of macroscopic material behavior for uniaxial fiber-matrix composites, using a DAE-approach

The macroscopic deformation behavior of a fiber-reinforced aluminum-boron composite is investigated. Different periodic and random arrangements of the microstructure are considered with macroscopic hardening behavior due to the evolution of plastic zones on the microscale being taken into account.

For the solution of the initial boundary value problem, a non-standard algorithm is applied. It consists of the direct solution of the whole set of equations, treating all variables as global quantities. Together with a higher order time integration method (BDF2), an automatic step size control is used in the FEM calculations.

根据极限平衡和极限分析方法,建立了软黏土地基土体上海底管道的极限承载力计算公式。当地基处于极限状态时,基础作用于地基的全部荷载应该等于该地基土体的承载能力,根据这一关系式可以推导出海底管道沉降量的计算公式。通过对试验结果的分析,证实所采用的计算方法是可行的。

陆相断陷湖盆中层序边界是由于沉积物表面高出沉积基准面或盆地基准面、沉积物发生剥蚀或无沉积作用所形成的，其产生机理主要有边界断层停止活动、断块翘倾活动、湖盆整体抬升和湖平面下降。层序边界在地震特征上、测井曲线上、钻井剖面中的岩性、岩相特征、古生物组合、微量元素的变化上均有明显的特征。利用这些特征，在济阳坳陷下第三系中识别出9个三级层序。     

Synthesis, Characterization, and Cytotoxicity Analysis of a Biodegradable Polyurethane

A polyester urethane was synthesized for use in a biodegradable scaffold. The polyurethane was synthesized in a two-step process: first, ester diol was synthesized from lactic acid and polyethylene glycol 400 (PEG 400), then it was polymerized with toluene diisocyanate using dibutyl tin dilaurate (DBTDL) as a catalyst to form a polyester urethane. Polyester urethane has tensile strength of 51-59 MPa and elongation at fracture of 369-439%. FTIR and XRD were used to confirm the formation and structure of the polymer. Hydrolytic degradation was studied in different alkali solutions and in saline water. In order to assess the cellular response of this material, cytotoxicity analysis was carried out against the cell line.
