浅析建筑装饰的文化意蕴——以沈阳故宫为例

本文通过对清早期建筑——沈阳故宫的纹饰、色彩、构建装饰等方面的研究,进一步挖掘了其文化意蕴,探寻由此反映出的内在造型及审美规律,以期为弘扬中华民族传统文化做出一点贡献。     

INDEX: An INDustrial Building Design EXpert

This paper presents an account of a research project concerned with the application of artificial intelligence techniques to structural design in civil engineering. INDEX is a rule-based system for the design of industrial buildings that is being developed at the University of Edinburgh. It has a blackboard architecture and its knowledge base is organized into a hierarchy of two levels. The main focus of this paper is to summarize the implementation aspects of one of its knowledge modules, ALTSEL which is responsible for the preliminary design. The organization of knowledge inside the ALTSEL module is briefly outlined using a number of representative rules from its sub-modules. The use of the Edinburgh PROLOG Blackboard Shell in the development of INDEX is also described briefly.     

Wind buckling of tanks with conical roof considering shielding by another tank

Oil storage tanks are usually arranged in groups in tank farms, and this configuration may affect their buckling and postbuckling strength under wind loads. The assessment of wind action on tank structures is performed in this work by means of wind tunnel experiments to evaluate the pattern of pressure distribution for a tank which is shielded by another tank under various configurations and separation between them. The experimental results show significant changes in pressures due to shielding effects. In a second stage the structural response under the pressures previously evaluated is performed by finite element analysis using both linear bifurcation and geometrically nonlinear analysis. Results of two-tank interaction are compared with those of an isolated tank. Based on the results, it is concluded that the changes in wind pressures due to group effects induce changes in buckling loads and in the associated deflected patterns.

Assessment of Portuguese thermal building legislation in an energetic and environmental perspective

The aim of this study is to assess the consistency of Portuguese thermal building legislation in terms of energy and environmental performance.To illustrate this, a case study has been carried out for different scenarios of a dwelling home located in an extreme climate zone (I3, V1 north) in Portugal with a T3 typology: four occupants and net floor area of 150 m², modelled according to Regulation Thermal Performance Characteristics of Buildings and a Life Cycle Assessment approach.The results show that the Portuguese thermal building legislation can be considered consistent in terms of energy efficiency and environmental performance if we take the damage categories into account - “human health” or “ecosystem quality” or the impact category - “emission into air”. It cannot be considered consistent if we take the damage category into account - “resources” or the impact category - “CO₂ eq” (equivalent carbon dioxide emissions)/“climate change”/“global warming”.     

Interference and facilitation in spatial working memory: Age-associated differences in lure effects in the n-back paradigm.

Working memory (WM) declines prominently during normal aging. The mechanisms underlying this decline are not fully understood. The authors analyzed performance on 2 versions of a 2-back spatial WM task to assess younger and older adults' responses to lures (i.e., nontarget items that match an item earlier in the sequence but not at the current target lag). Results demonstrate lure interference effects that are particularly pronounced among older adults. At the same time, however, older adults showed facilitation for targets. Taken together, these findings suggest that the contribution of familiarity signals to WM performance increases during normal aging. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2010 APA, all rights reserved)     

A preliminary pharmacogenetic investigation of adverse events from topiramate in heavy drinkers.

Topiramate, an anticonvulsant medication, is an efficacious treatment for alcohol dependence. To date, little is known about genetic moderators of side effects from topiramate. The objective of this study was to examine 3 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of the glutamate receptor GluR5 gene (GRIK1) as predictors of topiramate-induced side effects in the context of a laboratory study of topiramate. Heavy drinkers (n = 51, 19 women and 32 men), 75% of whom met criteria for an alcohol use disorder, completed a 5-week dose escalation schedule to a target dose of either 200 or 300 mg or matched placebo. The combined medication groups were compared with placebo-treated individuals for side effects at target dose. Analyses revealed that an SNP in intron 9 of the GRIK1 gene (rs2832407) was associated with the severity of topiramate-induced side effects and with serum levels of topiramate. Genes underlying glutamatergic neurotransmission, such as the GRIK1 gene, may help predict heterogeneity in topiramate-induced side effects. Future studies in larger samples are needed to more fully establish these preliminary findings. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2010 APA, all rights reserved)
