A general variance predictor for Cavalieri slices

A general variance predictor is presented for a Cavalieri design with slices of an arbitrary thickness t ≥ 0. So far, prediction formulae have been available either for measurement functions with smoothness constant q = 0, 1, … , and t ≥ 0, or for fractional q ∈ [0, 1] with t = 0. Because the possibility of using a fractional q adds flexibility to the variance prediction, we have extended the latter for any q ∈ [0, 1] and t ≥ 0. Empirical checks with previously published human brain data suggest an improved performance of the new prediction formula with respect to the hitherto available ones.

Periodic surface modeling for computer aided nano design

Current solid and surface modeling methods based on Euclidean geometry in traditional computer aided design are not efficient in constructing a large number of atoms and particles. In this paper, we propose a periodic surface model for computer aided nano design such that geometry of atoms and molecules can be constructed parametrically. At the molecular scale, periodicity of the model allows thousands of particles to be built efficiently. At the meso scale, inherent porosity of the model represents natural morphology of polymer and macromolecule. Surface and volume operations are defined to support crystal and molecular model creation with loci and foci periodic surfaces. The ultimate goal is to enable computer assisted material and system design at atomic, molecular, and meso scales.     

An efficient return algorithm for non-associated plasticity with linear yield criteria in principal stress space

An efficient return algorithm for stress update in numerical plasticity computations is presented. The yield criterion must be linear in principal stress space and can be composed of any number of yield planes. Each of these yield planes may have an associated or non-associated flow rule. The stress return and the formation of the constitutive matrix is carried out in principal stress space. Here the manipulations simplify and rely on geometrical arguments. The singularities arising at the intersection of yield planes are dealt with in a straightforward way also based on geometrical considerations. The method is exemplified on non-associated Mohr–Coulomb plasticity throughout the paper.     

错金工艺及对其运用的探讨

为了继承和发扬错金工艺，从其定义出发，探讨了该工艺在中国古代及国外的发展与应用以及笔者对该工艺的实验研究。针对在错金工艺实践过程中出现的问题，在查阅了相关的资料后，对传统错金工艺的实现方法提出了质疑。
