On the location of antennas for treatment planning in hyperthermia

Abstract. In this paper we investigate how to determine optimal locations of the microwave antennas being circularly ordered in a hyperthermia device. The heated area containing the tumor should have minimal volume. Based on a simple geometric model for the two and three dimensional case we develop algorithms for the computation of these volumes and present numerical results for the optimal locations. On missing the point: A reply to Jaques et al.

Replies to comments by Jaques et al (see record 2005-09346-002) on the author's original article (see record 1980-33168-001). I daresay that virtually every author who must respond to criticism thinks that the critical reader missed the point. In this case, I must join the legion of misunderstood authors. The article is entitled, "Psychological Services in Rehabilitation Medicine: Clinical Aspects of Rehabilitation Psychology." I attempted a very brief overview of the roles and functions of rehabilitation psychologists, not rehabilitation counselors. Somebody missed the point! Further, as I stated both in the abstract and in the summary, I was focusing on traditional clinical and counseling applications. I am a psychologist, and I wrote this particular article for an audience of professional psychologists to try to introduce some of the issues involved in psychological practice in this particular setting. I think that I accomplished that rather straightforward goal, and I hope that some of the readers will now consider rehabilitation psychology as an area of specialization that does utilize the skills learned in traditional clinical and counseling psychology doctoral programs. Applications of cost-effectiveness methodologies in behavioral medicine.

In 1996, the Panel on Cost-Effectiveness in Health and Medicine developed standards for cost-effectiveness analysis. The standards include the use of a societal perspective, that treatments be evaluated in comparison with the best available alternative (rather than with no care at all), and that health benefits be expressed in standardized units. Guidelines for cost accounting were also offered. Among 24,562 references on cost-effectiveness in Medline between 1995 and 2000, only a handful were relevant to behavioral medicine. Only 19 studies published between 1983 and 2000 met criteria for further evaluation. Among analyses that were reported, only 2 studies were found consistent with the Panel's criteria for high-quality analyses, although more recent studies were more likely to meet methodological standards. There are substantial opportunities to advance behavioral medicine by performing standardized cost-effectiveness analyses. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2010 APA, all rights reserved)     

EFP战斗部结构参数优化设计研究

基于研究EFP穿甲威力目的,利用LS-DYNA软件对球缺型EFP成形进行数值模拟研究;分析了曲率半径、药型罩壁厚、壳体厚度等参数对EFP成形性能的影响规律;优化得到了药柱高度50 mm、装药直径40 mm的EFP战斗部结构方案;研究结论将为EFP优化设计提供参考依据.     

中药材挥发油提取过程的传质动力学模型

利用Fick第二扩散定律和膜模型理论,分别建立了内扩散控制和气膜扩散控制的传质速率模型,并以苍术挥发油的提取实验以及文献数据对模型进行检验。实验结果表明,苍术颗粒半径较大时,挥发油提取过程由内扩散控制,服从一级动力学方程;颗粒半径小于0.090 mm时,出油速率由气膜扩散控制,出油量和时间呈正比。利用所建立的动力学模型对其他5种中药材的数据进行拟合,得到了与文献数据较为吻合的计算结果,表明该模型是可靠的,能反映实际提取情况,具有一定适用性。
