The cover image illustrates the dual photovoltaic and electroluminescence function of a single‐layer device based on a thienylenevinylene–triphenylamine with internal charge transfer (ICT), as reported by Cravino, Roncali, and co‐workers on p. 3033. The material forms an organic glass with isotropic electronic properties while ICT leads simultaneously to an extension of the photoresponse to the red and to an increase of the open circuit voltage. Procedure for the evaluation of the accumulation of defects in metallic structural materials under complex elastoplastic loading

Within framework of the continual fracture mechanics, we describe the engineering approach to the assessment of scattered microdamage accumulation kinetics in metallic materials under elastoplastic loading conditions in case of plane stressed state. Automatized experimental stand and the respective investigation technique are discussed. The stand has been developed based on modification of the UMé-10T electromechanic test machine. State-of-the-art computer technologies and microprocessing hardware are incorporated in the stand automation. We present the technique of experimental assessment of damage accumulation kinetics in metallic structural materials under complex elastoplastic loading conditions with account of two different fracture (cleavage and shear) processes, which technique is based on measuring the specific electric resistance of the specimen. __________ Translated from Problemy Prochnosti, No. 1, pp. 128–137, January–February, 2006.     

有机镍化合物催化烯烃聚合的研究进展

综述了有机镍化合物如烯丙基镍、乙酰丙酮镍、茂镍、二亚胺镍等催化烯烃聚合的研究进展。有机镍化合物可催化烯烃、α-烯烃(如乙烯、丙烯等)的齐聚及聚合、催化极性单体(如甲基丙烯酸甲酯、降冰片烯等)以及位阻较大的环烯烃、取代二烯烃、苯乙烯等的均聚和共聚。     

Flow stress of high density polyethylene and nylon 66 at high rates of strain

Measurement of the flow stress of high density polyethylene (HDPE) and nylon 66 at strain rates of 10³ s^?1 using a split Hopkinson pressure bar technique is discussed. The flow stress at a strain of 10% has been determined for both polymers at 20°C. The intrinsic errors involved in this technique are briefly reviewed. The results indicate that the flow stress of HDPE and nylon 66 were 50MPa and 150MPa, respectively, at strain rates of about 10³s^?1.     

Simulation of runoff and phosphorus transport in a Carpathian catchment,Slovakia

A comprehensive, GIS‐based modelling approach is developed to estimate runoff and phosphorus transport within a watershed at a daily time step. The approach relies on the use of GIS data for deriving major critical model parameters that exhibit distinct spatial variability over the catchment. Surface runoff is calculated by a modified rational method, which depends upon rainfall intensity, soil moisture status, slope, land‐use and soil characteristics. Phosphorus loading is estimated as a function of the runoff volume and the event mean concentration for different land use categories. A diffusive approximation method is used to trace runoff and phosphorus transport to the basin outlet. The modelling approach is tested in the Margecany catchment, Hornad River basin, Slovakia, to simulate runoff, phosphorus loading, and its transport on a daily time scale using data observed between 1995 and 2000. Satisfactory results of the hydrographs and phosphorus concentration at the basin outlet are obtained, though more efforts regarding the phosphorus cycling and its biochemical reactions need to be clarified by further research. An Electron Spin Resonance Study of Evolution of Organic Free Radicals in Irradiated Pepper During Heat Treatment

ABSTRACT: The thermal evolution behavior of the organic free radicals induced in irradiated black pepper was studied by electron spin resonance spectroscopy. To analyze the time-dependent evolution process, we used the theory of transient phenomena, that is, an ordinal differential equation, as well as the nonlinear least squares numerical method. We found that the radical evolution that occurred in the irradiated pepper obeys a single exponential function and yields a unique time constant. The evolution of the organic free radical undergoes a simple reaction process of a single radical species.

通过试验验证了热反应型水溶性聚氨酯F-2840E可提高“三防”（拒水、拒油、拒污）助剂TG-410H的使用性能，可提高TG-410H等部分有机氟系“三防”整理剂的耐洗性和“三防”效果，减少了“三防”助剂的用量．     

Study on Preparation and Application of Ti／Si Complex Zeolite

A Ti/Si complex zeolite has been prepared. X-ray diffraction and infrared spectrometry study has shown that two structures, namely the ZSM-5 and MCM-41, exist in the sample. BET tests have revealed that the complex zeolite contains regular mesopores of 2.6 nm. Ultraviolet spectrometry analysis has shown that the Ti species exist in the zeolite skeleton in the form of tetra-coordinate valence. The Ti/Si complex zeolite (TS-1/Ti-MCM-41) has apparently improved catalytic activity with respect to the macromolecular organic compound oxidation as compared to individual components of either Ti or Si containing zeolites (TS-1 and Ti-MCM-41).
