Dip coated films, widely used in the coating industry, are usually measured by capacitive methods with micrometric precision. In this work, interferometric determination of thickness evolution in real time, for the first time to our best knowledge, is applied to volatile non‐Newtonian liquids with several viscosities and distinct dip withdrawing speeds. Thickness evolution during the process depends on time as predicted by a power law model. Polymer‐dispersed liquid crystal (PDLC) films were prepared by ultraviolet light‐induced polymerization of photopolymerizable monomers in nematic liquid crystal (LC)/monomers/SiO2 nanoparticles composites, and the effect of SiO2 nanoparticles on the electro‐optical properties of PDLC films was studied. Many key components of implantable medical devices are made from polymeric materials. The functions of these materials include structural support, electrical insulation, protection of other materials from the environment of the body, and biocompatibility, as well as other things such as delivery of a therapeutic drug. In such roles, the stability and integrity of the polymer, over what can be a very long period of time, is very important. For most of these functions, stability over time is desired, but in other cases, the opposite–the degradation and disappearance of the polymer over time is required. In either case, it is important to understand both the chemistry that can lead to the degradation of polymers as well as the kinetics that controls these reactions. Hydrolysis and oxidation are the two classes of reactions that lead to the breaking down of polymers. Both are discussed in detail in the context of the environmental factors that impact the utility of various polymers for medical device applications. Understanding the chemistry and kinetics allows prediction of stability as well as explanations for observations such as porosity and the unexpected behavior of polymeric composite materials in some situations. Choosing the right compounds to synthesise from large virtual combinatorial libraries is a current challenge for the pharmaceutical industry. Herein we describe a highly optimised method that aligns lead‐like properties with compound diversity. The methods are illustrated by considering a two‐dimensional library based on the interesting spirocyclic bis‐azetidine template.

Hydrophobic association hydrogels (HA‐gels) with almost ideal properties were successfully prepared by micellar copolymerization, and the associated micelles acted as physical cross‐linking points in the network of HA‐gels. HA‐gels exhibit exceptional mechanical properties and transparency. However, the most striking properties are that HA‐gels possess the capability of self‐healing and remolding, which is mainly due to the dissociation and re‐association process of the associated micelles. Dried‐gels, which were prepared by stretching HA‐gels to a certain elongation for a period of time in the air, can be used as shrinkable or thermal sensitivity materials. HA‐gels have a broad selectivity for components, so we have synthesized HA‐gels with variously available properties by changing a corresponding component: thermoresponsive HA‐gels, nanosphere‐composite HA‐gels, and fluorescent HA‐gels. Therefore, we are sure that HA‐gels will be widely used in various fields, such as biology, medication, sensors, optics, and oil exploitation.
