Error Concealment Based on Semantic Prioritization with Hardware‐Based Face Tracking

With video compression standards such as MPEG‐4, a transmission error happens in a video‐packet basis, rather than in a macroblock basis. In this context, we propose a semantic error prioritization method that determines the size of a video packet based on the importance of its contents. A video packet length is made to be short for an important area such as a facial area in order to reduce the possibility of error accumulation. To facilitate the semantic error prioritization, an efficient hardware algorithm for face tracking is proposed. The increase of hardware complexity is minimal because a motion estimation engine is efficiently re‐used for face tracking. Experimental results demonstrate that the facial area is well protected with the proposed scheme.

Stateful session handoff for mobile WWW

This paper proposes a web session handoff system that can hand over not only stateless but also stateful sessions between homogenous and heterogeneous user devices to enable uninterrupted and seamless web access. The proposed system adopts a proxy-based approach and an optional client-assisted scheme in order to track and hand over session information. In the proposed system, a session is registered at a User Agent Proxy (UAP) and then tracked by the UAP so that the session can be handed over from one device via the UAP to another device. In addition to session information tracked by a UAP, the UAP can hand over more comprehensive session information by using the client-assisted scheme. Compared with client-based approaches, our design has several advantages, such as less modification to user devices, practicability, and fault tolerance. We have implemented a UAP on a PC and client programs for both PC and PDA. The implementation can successfully hand over between PC and PDA a stateful session for online shopping applications.

介绍了一种高线精轧机组远程监测与诊断系统的软硬件结构与功能 ,该系统采用B/S模式并结合CORBA及SOAP /WebService技术 ,较好地解决了实时数据的动态显示以及负载均衡等问题。经过运行实践证明 ,该系统能对现场设备的运行状态及时作出判断 ,具有较高的可靠性与稳定性。

一种网络服务自动部署方法

为满足网络服务使用者对网络服务部署的功能性和非功能性需求,运用Petri网的方法进行了互联网动态多变环境下的网络服务自动部署的研究,建立了一种基于Petri网的网络服务部署网模型,从形式化的角度描述了网络服务功能的部署情况,提出了一种按照服务质量来选择最优网络服务部署的算法。仿真的结果表明,与目前常用的固定部署算法和随机部署算法相比,按照该方法得到的网络服务部署能最好地满足服务使用者对服务的非功能性方面的需求。     

The Strategic Control of Multiple Routes in Imitation of Actions.

The aim of this study was to bring to the surface the strategic use of imitative processes in the context of a 2-route model: (a) direct imitation, used in reproducing new, meaningless actions, and (b) imitation based on stored semantic knowledge of familiar meaningful actions. Three experiments were carried out with healthy participants who reproduced meaningful and meaningless actions within an established time limit. The study investigated 3 factors that could potentially affect the selection of processes used for imitation: (a) the composition of the experimental list (blocked or mixed presentation), (b) the presence-absence of instructions (Experiments 1 and 2), and (c) the relative proportions of the stimuli (Experiment 3). Overall, the results suggest that each of these factors influences the selection of imitative strategies in healthy individuals with temporarily reduced capacities, as happens in the case of brain-damaged patients. Characterizing navigation maps for web applications with the NMM approach

This paper presents the Navigation Maps Modeling approach (NMM), which provides platform independent models for characterizing navigation maps of web applications. The NMM approach is conceived to obtain a trade off between high and low-level design notations. As high-level design notations, NMM models permit architectural details that may hinder the overall understanding of the web application to be left out. As low-level design notations, NMM models can easily be transformed into detailed architectural designs, which are very valuable at coding and maintenance stages.
