Improving the spatio-temporal distribution of surface solar radiation data by merging ground and satellite measurements

Appropriate information on solar resources is very important for a variety of technological areas, such as: agriculture, meteorology, forestry engineering, water resources and in particular in the designing and sizing of solar energy systems. However, the availability of observed solar radiation measurements has proven to be spatially and temporally inadequate for many applications. In this paper we propose to merge the global solar radiation measurements from the Royal Meteorological Institute of Belgium solar measurements network with the operationally derived surface incoming global short-wave radiation products from Meteosat Second Generation satellites imageries to improve the spatio-temporal resolution of the surface global solar radiation data over Belgium. We evaluate several merging methods with various degrees of complexity (from mean field bias correction to geostatistical merging techniques) together with interpolated ground measurements and satellite-derived values only. The performance of the different methods is assessed by leave-one-out cross-validation.     

Interactive smart battery storage for a PV and wind hybrid energy management control based on conservative power theory

This paper presents interactive smart battery-based storage (BBS) for wind generator (WG) and photovoltaic (PV) systems. The BBS is composed of an asymmetric cascaded H-bridge multilevel inverter (ACMI) with staircase modulation. The structure is parallel to the WG and PV systems, allowing the ACMI to have a reduction in power losses compared to the usual solution for storage connected at the DC-link of the converter for WG or PV systems. Moreover, the BBS is embedded with a decision algorithm running real-time energy costs, plus a battery state-of-charge manager and power quality capabilities, making the described system in this paper very interactive, smart and multifunctional. The paper describes how BBS interacts with the WG and PV and how its performance is improved. Experimental results are presented showing the efficacy of this BBS for renewable energy applications.     

自供电磁阻车辆检测节点设计

针对无线车辆信息采集系统寿命受制于节点功耗的问题,设计了一种基于各向异性磁阻传感器的自供电车辆检测节点。节点采用电源动态管理,设计了快速信号采集电路,结合低功耗芯片的选用以及执行睡眠等方法来控制节点功耗。为减少通信次数和保证可靠通信,针对应用定制了时分多址加跳频的无线通信协议。节点采用超级电容加充电锂电池的存储结构收集太阳能,通过软硬件协同设计实现了简单高效的能量管理方法,具有供电源自动切换和充电控制功能。实验测试的结果表明该节点能够胜任车流量检测应用,自供电能够满足节点可持续工作的需要。     

基于Adams的太阳帆展开绳索的建模与仿真

在太阳帆旋转展开过程中,依靠端部系有质量球的对角线绳索的离心力展开方形帆面,绳索与中心毂轮法向方向会产生夹角.利用Adams建模仿真技术成功建立太阳帆展开绳索模型,并对太阳帆绳索展开进行仿真分析,得出绳索与中心毂轮法向的夹角与毂轮相对转速的关系,为太阳帆的结构设计与模拟试验提供参考.     

沼光一体化发电测控系统

分析了沼光一体化系统结构和工作原理,设计了以Atmega88为主控制器,以GSM无线通信模块为远程控制媒介的沼光一体化发电测控系统.并详细阐述了系统硬件电路设计的结构、原理图、元件选型和技术指标等,然后给出了系统软件设计实现的工作流程等.     

基于超级电容器的太阳能汽车储能系统研究

针对太阳能汽车在启动时需要蓄电池提供瞬时大电流,制动时会使蓄电池承受大电流冲击,导致蓄电池寿命严重缩短这一问题,提出一种基于超级电容器的新型储能系统,并通过模糊控制使超级电容器与蓄电池协调工作。本设计在MATLAB平台上搭建了基于超级电容器的太阳能电动汽车混合储能系统的模型,进行相关的仿真实验,实验结果表明混合储能方式可以提高汽车启动速度,减少对蓄电池造成的损害。

Real-time predictive zoom tracking for digital still cameras

Zoom tracking is becoming a standard feature in digital still cameras (DSCs). It involves keeping an object of interest in focus during the zooming-in or zooming-out operation. Zoom tracking is normally achieved by moving the focus motor in real-time according to the so-called trace curves in response to changes in the zoom motor position. A trace curve denotes in-focus motor positions versus zoom motor positions for a specific object distance. A zoom tracking approach is characterized by the way these trace curves are estimated and followed. In this paper, a new zoom tracking approach, named predictive zoom tracking (PZT), is introduced based on two prediction models: auto-regressive and recurrent neural network. The performance of this approach is compared with the existing zoom tracking approaches commonly used in DSCs. The real-time implementation results obtained on an actual digital camera platform indicate that the developed PZT approach not only achieves higher tracking accuracies but also effectively addresses the key challenge of zoom tracking, namely the one-to-many mapping problem.

An alternating low band-gap polyfluorene for optoelectronic devices

An alternating polyfluorene (APFO) with low band-gap segments named APFO-Green1 has been designed and synthesized for use in optoelectronic devices. The low band-gap segment consists of an electron acceptor (A), fenced by electron donors (D). This D-A-D configuration leads to a partial charge transfer in the polymer backbone, and thereby a low band-gap (1.3 eV). Results obtained from characterization of APFO-Green1 include light absorption and emission at extended wavelengths as well as high hole mobility. Furthermore, blends of the polymer with different fullerene derivatives exhibit unusually high photovoltaic performance at long wavelengths, making this type of conjugated polymers promising for plastic solar cell applications.
