Cloud computing is an emerging technology which deals with real world problems that changes dynamically. The users of dynamically changing applications in cloud demand for rapid and efficient service at any instance of time. To deal with this paper proposes a new modified Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm that work efficiently in dynamic environments. The proposed Hierarchical Particle Swarm Optimization with Ortho Cyclic Circles (HPSO-OCC) receives the request in cloud from various resources, employs multiple swarm interaction and implements cyclic and orthogonal properties in a hierarchical manner to provide the near optimal solution. HPSO-OCC is tested and analysed in both static and dynamic environments using seven benchmark optimization functions. The proposed algorithm gives the best solution and outperforms in terms of accuracy and convergence speed when compared with the performance of existing PSO algorithms in dynamic scenarios. As a case study, HPSO-OCC is implemented in remote health monitoring application for optimal service scheduling in cloud. The near optimal solution from HPSO-OCC and Dynamic Round Robin Scheduling algorithm is implemented to schedule the services in healthcare. 相似文献

ObjectivesThis study aimed to investigate how different light intensities affect human gait patterns during walking. Humans rely on visual information from the surroundings to mediate foot placement and maintain balance during walking. The reduction of light, which diminishes visual input, is recognized as a contributing factor in the incidence of falling; however, such impact on gait characteristics has not been identified yet at different constrained levels of light intensities.MethodsTwelve healthy adults were instructed to walk at their self-selected pace on a treadmill either in high or low lighting conditions. The light intensity during treadmill walking was reduced using a pair of goggles attached to different layers of window films. Three-dimensional spatiotemporal gait data were collected using a motion capture system.ResultsThe significantly decreased stride length, stride time, double support time, and the significantly increased gait variability of stride length and stance time, were presented in the reduced lighting condition.ConclusionsOverall, this study indicates that the lighting intensity impacts gait adjustments during walking. Underground workers navigating in a dim and constrained environment could alter their walking patterns that relate to falling accidents.Relevance to industrySlips, trips and falls are common accidents occurred in underground workers which correlate to the insufficient lighting condition. This study investigated the impact of different lighting conditions on gait adjustment which contributes to the safety of workers situating in a reduced lighting environment. 相似文献

Only a few studies in the literature have focused on the effects of age on virtual environment (VE) sickness susceptibility and even less research was carried out focusing on the elderly. In general, the elderly usually browse VEs on a thin film transistor liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD) at home or somewhere, not a head-mounted display (HMD). While the TFT-LCD is used to present VEs, this set-up does not physically enclose the user. Therefore, this study investigated the factors that contribute to cybersickness among the elderly when immersed into a VE on TFT-LCD, including exposure durations, navigation rotating speeds and angle of inclination. Participants were elderly, with an average age of 69.5 years. The results of the first experiment showed that the rate of simulator sickness questionnaire (SSQ) scores increases significantly with navigational rotating speed and duration of exposure. However, the experimental data also showed that the rate of SSQ scores does not increase with the increase in angle of inclination. In applying these findings, the neuro-fuzzy technology was used to develop a neuro-fuzzy cybersickness-warning system integrating fuzzy logic reasoning and neural network learning. The contributing factors were navigational rotating speed and duration of exposure. The results of the second experiment showed that the proposed system can efficiently determine the level of cybersickness based on the associated subjective sickness estimates and combat cybersickness due to long exposure to a VE. 相似文献

A novel adaptive clipping technique for filtering a constant amplitude frequency modulated (FM) signal embedded in non-Gaussian
noise is proposed. It is based on the analysis and processing of the estimate of probability density function of a FM signal
realization. As a result, modifications of two robust estimators of FM signal amplitude are proposed. It is shown that these
estimators can be used for Gaussian and non-Gaussian heavy-tail environments. The proposed clipping technique can exploit
one or another obtained robust estimate of the signal amplitude for adaptive setting a threshold. Analysis of signal estimate
accuracy for different noise environments is carried out. Comparative analysis of the obtained methods and known approaches
based on scanning window nonlinear filtering and optimal robust L-DFT form is performed. It is demonstrated that the usage
of clipping-based technique leads to the considerable improvement of the FM signal filtering efficiency in comparison to the
