Influence of process variables on the drying of potato slices

Investigation of the effects of varying air velocity, slice thickness, and pre-treatment with sodium chloride solutions and surface active agents on drying potato slices indicated that the drying occurred entirely in the falling rate period and was controlled by the mechanism of liquid diffusion. The rate of drying, and therefore the diffusion coefficients, increased with the addition of sodium chloride and surface active agents. Diffusion coefficients were also influenced by air velocity and slice thickness, suggesting that the rate of drying of potato slices is controlled by a combination of internal and external resistances.

传统的水面流速流向测量多采用经纬仪交会法,此法需要大量的人力和设备,工作量大且费时。近几年,随着全球定位系统(GPS)的广泛应用和实践,在一定范围内,采用GPS定位法替代经纬仪交会法施测水面流速流向。介绍了GPS定位法的测量原理、设备,以及测量方法。通过对GPS定位法的精度和优缺点的分析,得出采用GPS定位法施测水面流速流向具有较高的推广价值。     

Mesomorphism of Lanthanide(Ⅲ) 4-Hexyloxybenzoates

The 4-alkoxybenzoic acids are well-known liquid crystals showing several mesophases(nematic,smectic C phase or both)depending on the alkoxy chain length and whereby the rigid core of the mesogen is formed by intermolecular hydrogen bonds.In this paper it is shown that the thermal behaviour of lanthanide salts of 4-hexyloxybenzoic acids depends on the lanthanide ion(Ln=La,Pr,Nd,Sm,Eu).The lanthanum(Ⅲ)and praseodymium(Ⅲ)4-hexyloxybenzoates exhibit a smectic A mesophase.No mesophase is found for the corresponding compounds of heavier lanthanides.The thermal properties of the lanthanide(Ⅲ)4-hexyloxybenzoates were investigated by differential scanning calorimetry(DSC),polarising thermo-optical microscopy and synchrotron X-ray radiation.

NIST 0:45 reflectometer

The NIST 0:45 reflectometer measures the spectral reflectance factor at an influx angle of 0° and an efflux angle of 45° of colored, nonfluorescent specimens at room temperature, with widths ranging from 3 to 10 cm and heights from 3 to 20 cm and with an uncertainty of less than 0.5 in color difference units. Measurement accuracy enhancements for wideband modulated signals

Time‐domain waveform measurements of wideband modulated signals, although attractive for communication systems modeling applications, have until now lacked the required accuracy for quantitative analysis. New developments described here enhance the accuracy of these measurements, enabling their application to communication system characterization and modeling. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. 钛铁矿选择氯化法制取人造金红石的热力学与动力学

研究了钛铁矿选择氯化制取人造金红石反应的Fe-Ti-C-O2-Cl2系平衡图，计算了氧与某些氯化物相互作用的自由能变化，采用“通氧一步选择氯化法”，解决了选择氯化“自热”反应持续进行的技术关键，对反应参数进行了实验室，半工业和工业化生产试验研究，研究证明，选择氯化过程的动力学模型是“固体颗粒粒度保持不变的缩核反应模型”，动力学区的活性能为34．33kJ/mol；扩散区的活化能为0．80kJ/mol，研究开发的无筛板沸腾氯化炉可以长期稳定地连续运转，生产出的人造金红石品位为92．10％，经摇床和磁选，品位达到95％，床层单位炉产能达12．4t/(m2.d)，该工艺和设备已成功地应用于工业生产。
