An LMI approach to synthesis subject to almost asymptotic regulation constraints

A multi-objective controller synthesis problem is considered in which an output is to be regulated approximately by assuring a bound on the steady-state peak amplification in response to an infinite-energy disturbance, while also guaranteeing a desired level of performance measured in terms of the worst-case energy gain from a finite-energy input to a performance output. Relying on a characterization of the controllers with which almost asymptotic regulation is accomplished, the problem of guaranteeing the desired level of performance is reduced to solving a system of linear matrix inequalities subject to a set of linear equality constraints. Based on the solution of this system, a procedure is outlined for the construction of a suitable controller whose order is equal to the order of the plant plus the order of the exogenous system.     

Stabilizability of two-dimensional linear systems via switched output feedback

The problem of stabilizing a second-order SISO LTI system of the form , y=Cx with feedback of the form u(x)=v(x)Cx is considered, where v(x) is real-valued and has domain which is all of . It is shown that, when stabilization is possible, v(x) can be chosen to take on no more than two values throughout the entire state-space (i.e., v(x){k₁,k₂} for all x and for some k₁,k₂), and an algorithm for finding a specific choice of v(x) is presented. It is also shown that the classical root locus of the corresponding transfer function C(sI-A)^-1B has a strong connection to this stabilization problem, and its utility is demonstrated through examples.     

Stability of linear multistep methods for delay integro-differential equations

This paper is concerned with the numerical solution of delay integro-differential equations. The adaptation of linear multistep methods is considered. The emphasis is on the linear stability of numerical methods. It is shown that every A-stable, strongly 0-stable linear multistep method of Pouzet type can preserve the delay-independent stability of the underlying linear systems. In addition, some delay-dependent stability conditions for the stability of numerical methods are also given.     

渐近跟踪鲁棒控制的混沌同步

对混沌系统同步控制中的控制器进行了研究,因其实际应用受限大等因素而要求系统具有较好的鲁棒性.把渐近跟踪作为系统同步的推广,从控制方法的角度设计一个混沌同步控制器,运用极点配置法求出控制器的增益参数并从控制理论上证明了该思路的可行性.通过对Lorenz系统的数值仿真试验,验证了该方法在控制混沌同步方面的有效性.为混沌控制中设计耐受性高的控制器提供了依据.     

Stability analysis of a class of digital filters utilizing single saturation nonlinearity

A novel criterion for the global asymptotic stability of a class of digital filters utilizing single saturation nonlinearity is presented. An example showing the effectiveness of the present criterion is given.     

On the performance of different capability indices under normal and non-normal distributions

In this article, we have examined the performance of some useful capability indices using normal and non-normal distributions. The confidence intervals are calculated and mean coverage rates are observed for different capability indices. The effects of symmetry and kurtosis of parent distributions are examined on the mean coverage rates of different capability indices. Moreover, we have investigated the robustness (of confidence interval) using the median and percentile-based indices. We have considered the well-known distributions including normal, gamma, t, Weibull, and chi-squared. For these process scenarios, we have observed that some indices resist disturbance only in symmetry of the parent distribution, some resist the disturbance in symmetry and kurtosis of the distribution, and some indices don’t resist against either type of disturbance.     

Monotone properties of certain classes of solutions of second-order difference equations

Sufficient conditions for the existence of these types of nonoscillatory solutions are also presented. Some examples illustrating the results and suggestions for further research are included.     

Modified criterion for global asymptotic stability of fixed-point state-space digital filters using two’s complement arithmetic

A criterion for the global asymptotic stability of fixed-point state-space digital filters using two’s complement arithmetic is presented. The criterion is a modified form of a well-known criterion due to Mills, Mullis, and Roberts. The criterion is in the form of linear matrix inequality and, hence, computationally tractable. An example shows the effectiveness of the modified criterion.     

Remarks on output feedback stabilization of two-species chemostat models

We consider a class of output feedback stabilization problems for chemostats with two species. We design dilution rate feedbacks that stabilize a componentwise positive equilibrium. Our feedbacks only depend on the sum of the species levels. The novelty of our treatment is in our dropping the usual condition on the relative sizes of the growth yield constants.
