In this paper, the analysis of squeeze film characteristics of conical bearings with combined effects of piezo-viscous dependency and couple stress fluid is presented. On the basis of the Stokes microcontinuum theory of couple stress fluid model and Barus experimental research, a modified Reynolds equation is derived, the standard perturbation technique is used to solve the highly non-linear Reynolds equation and approximate analytical solution is obtained for the squeeze film pressure, load carrying capacity and squeeze film time. According to the results obtained, the effect of viscosity pressure dependency on the squeeze film lubrication of conical bearings with couple stress fluids is to improve the load carrying capacity significantly and lengthen the squeeze film time as compared to iso-viscous Newtonian case.  相似文献

The paper presents the derivation of stability equations and the comparison of critical loads for an orthotropic elastic–plastic conical shell with proper location of the shell basic surface. Prandtl–Reuss plastic flow theory is accepted in the analysis. To derive the stability equations the variational method was accepted and Ritz method was used to solve the equations. Numerical results were obtained by the use of a special iterative algorithm of the elastic–plastic analysis implemented on the PC.  相似文献

The objective of the present study is to propose a novel design to improve the separation efficiency of the conventional square cyclone. For this purpose, the conical section of the conventional square cyclone with single-cone is modified to dual inverse-cone. In addition, the effect of second-cone length on the performance of cyclone is considered. A three-dimensional numerical simulation is done by solving the Reynolds averaged Navier-Stokes equations with the Reynolds Stress Model (RSM) turbulence model and applying the Eulerian-Lagrangian two-phase method. The turbulent dispersion of particles is predicted by the application of the Discrete Random Walk (DRW) model. The numerical results demonstrate that dual inverse-cone square cyclone although produces higher pressure drop but its separation efficiency is higher than the square cyclone with single-cone. This is due to a smaller separation zone and shorter path of particle movements which force the particles exit from the outlet section of the cyclone. Finally, using dual-inverse cone square cyclone reduces the 50% cut size about 10% and 30% for inlet velocities of 12 m/s and 28 m/s, respectively.  相似文献

Elastic stability of shell structures under certain loading conditions is characterized by a dramatically unstable postbuckling behavior. The presence of simultaneous ‘competing’ buckling modes (corresponding to the same critical buckling load) is understood to be largely responsible for such behavior. In this paper, within the framework of linear bifurcation eigenvalue analysis and Donnell shallow shell theory, the presence of simultaneous buckling modes in axially compressed isotropic cones is determined using the semi-analytical method of Galerkin. The results are presented in the plane of the dimensionless reciprocal meridional and circumferential buckling half wavelengths, and are compared with the locus of simultaneous buckling modes of axially compressed cylinders, described by the so-called Koiter circle. By using an optimizing procedure, it is shown that the cluster of simultaneous buckling modes in cones is well described by the Koiter circle of an equivalent cylinder with appropriate length and radius. Such optimizing values of length and radius allow us to gain some insight into the simplifying treatment of the buckling of cones through the concept of equivalent cylinder.  相似文献
