A concept of using the product water to internally humidify the air stream in a PEM fuel cell without external humidification is investigated by a simple, pseudo 2-D model along a single channel. This model takes into account the mass and energy balance, water and heat generation rates, heat removal, and water transport through the membrane. The model and thus the concept were confirmed experimentally using a 5-segment fuel cell. The temperature of each segment could be individually controlled, and the temperature and humidity of air could be measured between each segment. A temperature profile has been established, by applying spatially variable heat removal rates along the cathode channel, that results in relative humidity being close to 100% throughout the cell without any external humidification. The concept may be applied to a fuel cell stack resulting in simplification of the suporting system by avoiding external humidification.  相似文献

According to the physical and chemical energy cascade utilization and concept of synthesis integration of variety cycle systems, a new humid air turbine (HAT) cycle with solar energy for methanol decomposition has been proposed in this paper. The solar energy is utilized for methanol decomposing as a heat source in the HAT cycle. The low energy level of solar energy is supposed to convert the high energy level of chemical energy through methanol absorption, realizing the combination of clean energy and normal chemical fuels as compared to the normal chemical recuperative cycle. As a result, the performance of normal chemical fuel thermal cycle can be improved to some extent. Though the energy level of decomposed syngas from methanol is decreased, the cascade utilization of methanol is upgraded. The energy level and exergy losses in the system are graphically displayed with the energy utilization diagrams (EUD). The results show that the cycle’s exergy efficiency is higher than that of the conventional HAT cycle by at least 5 percentage points under the same operating conditions. In addition, the cycle’s thermal efficiency, exergy efficiency and solar thermal efficiency respond to an optimal methanol conversion.  相似文献

Novel tubular light-guides with a transparent hemispherical cupola placed on an unobstructed flat roof collect all sunlight and skylight available at ground level year round. This advantage is heightened in the dry and sunny tropical regions where the sun rises to very high altitudes and often the hours of sunshine last throughout the whole day. Hollow light-guides with very high inner specular reflectances can transport sunbeams downward into the windowless building core very effectively. Due to the tube’s diameter and length and multiple reflections, complex illuminance patterns are produced on the underside of the tube, i.e. on top of the glazed ceiling aperture that illuminates the interior space or its working plane. This paper discusses several daylight conditions in tropical interiors illuminated by tubular light-guides. The recently published HOLIGILM calculation program and the user-friendly tool HOLIGILM 4.2 have facilitated the production of this paper.  相似文献

Nitrous oxide (N2O) is formed mainly during nitrification and denitrification. Inherent soil properties strongly influence the magnitude of N2O formation and vary with soil types. A laboratory study was carried out using eight humid tropic soils of Malaysia to monitor NH4 + and NO3 dynamics and N2O production. The soils were treated with NH4NO3 (100 mg N kg–1 soil) and incubated for 40 days at 60% water-filled pore space. The NH4 + accumulation was predominant in the acid soils studied and NO3 accumulation/disappearance was either small or stable. However, the Munchong soil depicted the highest peak (238 g N2O-N kg–1 soil d–1) at the beginning of the incubation, probably through a physical release. While the Tavy soil showed some NO3 accumulation at the end of the study with a maximum N2O flux of 206 g N2O-N kg–1 soil d–1, both belong to Oxisols. The other six soils, viz. Rengam, Selangor, Briah, Bungor, Serdang and Malacca series, formed smaller but maximum peaks in an decreasing order of 116 to 36 g N2O-N kg–1 soil d–1. Liming the Oxisols and Ultisols raised the soil pH, resulting in NO3 accumulation and N2O production to some extent. As such the highest N2O flux of 130.2 and 77.4 g N2O-N kg–1 soil d–1 was detected from the Bungor and Malacca soils, respectively. The Selangor soil, belonging to Inceptisol, did not respond to lime treatment. The respective total N2O formations were 3.63, 1.92 and 1.69 mg N2O-N kg–1 soil from the Bungor, Malacca and Selangor soils, showing an increase by 49 and 99% over the former two non-limed soils. Under non-limed conditions, the indigenous soil properties, viz. Ca++ content, %clay, %sand and pH of the soils collectively could have influenced the total N2O formation.  相似文献

This work deals with the study of the durability, in a hot/wet environment, of structural adhesively bonded polyetherimide (PEI) assemblies used in power electronics packaging technology. An overall approach is proposed, for which the epoxy joint-PEI substrates assembly on the one hand, and the adhesive system components (substrate surface and bulk adhesive) on the other hand, are studied separately with different analytical techniques. The first part of this work was devoted to the substrate surface state and to its modification using a cold plasma treatment of the PEI surface. Then for chosen parameters (power, duration) contact angle measurements indicated an increased surface tension resulting from surface decontamination (removal of release agent and carbon contaminants) and from the creation of polar species, such as esters or carboxylic acid groups, on the PEI surface (XPS analyses). The second part of this study concerned the bulk adhesive ageing in an ethylene glycol-water solution at 70°C. Mass uptake measurements versus time showed the liquid diffusion in the bulk adhesive associated with a microscopic damage of the epoxy system. An overall plasticizing of the adhesive with a considerable decay of the α-transition temperature of one of the two adhesive epoxy-amine networks (TGDDM-BAPP) was also highlighted using rheometry. However, in these ageing conditions, the adhesive glassy modulus decreases slighty because of the thermomechanical stability of the other epoxy network. In the third part, the asymmetric wedge test showed the beneficial effect of the cold plasma treatment on the epoxy/PEI interface durability in the aggressive medium.  相似文献

The effect of air inlet humidity condition on the air-side heat transfer and pressure drop characteristics for an inclined brazed aluminum heat exchanger has been investigated experimentally. For a heat exchanger with a louver angle of 27°, fin pitch of 2.1 mm and flow depth of 27.9 mm, a series of tests are conducted for the air-side Reynolds numbers of 80–400, with variation of inlet humidity condition. The heat transfer data are obtained for wet condition only and the pressure drop data are measured for both dry and wet conditions. The inlet air temperature and relative humidity range are 12 °C and 60–90%, respectively. The inclination angles (θ) from the vertical position are 0, 14, 45, and 67° clockwise (leeward direction). The inclination angles affect moderately the sensible heat transfer coefficient for wet condition, and the pressure drops for both dry and wet conditions increase systematically with the inclination angle. The heat transfer and pressure drop characteristics under wet condition are not influenced substantially by the air inlet humidity for θ 45°. The effect of the louver directions at the inlet and outlet of the inclined heat exchanger on the performance is also addressed.  相似文献

How rain attenuation affects space links with variable elevation angles is not yet fully researched. The aim of this paper is to investigate this topic by simulating rain attenuation at Ka Band, in slant paths with variable elevation angles, with the Synthetic Storm Technique (SST), in links connected with spacecrafts at the Sun–Earth first Lagrangian point L1, viewed from Spino d'Adda (Italy), Tampa (Florida), White Sands (New Mexico). The input to the SST is a large database of time series of 1‐min rain rate recorded on site, 10 years in Spino d'Adda, 4 years at Tampa and White Sands. After recalling known results on the elevation angle of the Sun (i.e. L1), θs (°), seen from latitude λ (°), I report what seems to be a new result: the mode of the probability density function of θs in a year, in the range 0 ≤ λ ≤ 90° ? ε (Earth axis tilt angle ε = 23.44°), coincides with the peak angle found at the day of the Winter solstice at the site, a result valid also for other planets, once their tilt angle is used. Compared to the complementary probability distribution function (pdf) of rain attenuation calculated for a geostationary (GEO) link (fixed elevation angle), the pdf to L1 depends on the rain‐rate pdf during the contact time with L1, according to the local climate. I show that, to obtain a good and easier estimate of the rain attenuation pdf in L1 links, we can consider a GEO link with elevation angle equal to the mean angle and rain rate pdf, both during the contact time, and that the mode angle gives an upper bound to the rain attenuation pdf in the sites considered. The effect of (V)UV illumination at 172 run and 253.7 run on ozone formation with dielectric barrier discharges in air‐like mixtures of nitrogen/oxygen and argon/oxygen as function of the water concentration is presented. Although (V)UV at these wavelengths efficiently cleaves ozone, the ozone concentration in a combined (V)UV/dielectric barrier discharge in oxygen‐containing gases is reduced only very little. This corresponds to an enhanced concentration of atomic singlet oxygen, which, in presence of water, increases the production of hydroxyl radicals. This is confirmed by measurements of the removal rates of 2‐propanol and of its byproducts in dry and humid air in a combined (V)UV/dielectric barrier discharge treatment.  相似文献
