Indium oxide (In2O3) doped with 0.5-5 at.% of Ba was examined for their response towards trace levels of NOx in the ambient. Crystallographic phase studies, electrical conductivity and sensor studies for NOx with cross interference for hydrogen, petroleum gas (PG) and ammonia were carried out. Bulk compositions with x ≤ 1 at.% of Ba exhibited high response towards NOx with extremely low cross interference for hydrogen, PG and ammonia, offering high selectivity. Thin films of 0.5 at.% Ba doped In2O3 were deposited using pulsed laser deposition technique using an excimer laser (KrF) operating at a wavelength of (λ) 248 nm with a fluence of ∼3 J/cm2 and pulsed at 10 Hz. Thin film sensors exhibited better response towards 3 ppm NOx quite reliably and reproducibly and offer the potential to develop NOx sensors (Threshold limit value of NO2 and NO is 3 and 25 ppm, respectively).  相似文献

A series of multi-walled carbon nanotubes/polyurethane (MWNTs/PU) composite conducting dispersoids were prepared via an in situ coupling reaction among linear hydroxyl-terminated polymer diols, 1,6-hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI) and various chain extenders. The composite conducting thin films were formed by spin-coating and depositing the dispersoids onto comb-like electrode substrates. The resulting structure and the dispersion quality of MWNTs in the dispersoids were examined by means of FTIR, XRD, TEM, SEM and UV-vis analyses. The response of the as-prepared films toward some volatile organic solvent vapors such as benzene, anhydrous ether, acetone and chloroform was evaluated. The experimental results indicated that the composite conducting films constructed by hydroxyl-terminated poly(butadiene-co-acrylonitrile), trimethylolpropane, and MWNTs-OH bear better vapor responsiveness. The dispersion behavior of MWNTs in the dispersoids, types of MWNTs and soft-hard segmental compositions are believed to be closely related with the sensing properties of the films. In particular, the chemical linkage of MWNT-OH with HDI in the PU matrix is expected to improve the dispersivity and further to enhance the sensing properties of the composite sensors. The vapor sensing properties well reveal that these materials have a possibility as a candidate of volatile organic solvent vapor sensors.  相似文献

The conductometric gas sensing characteristics of Cr2O3 thin films - prepared by electron-beam deposition of Cr films on quartz substrate followed by oxygen annealing - have been investigated for a host of gases (CH4, CO, NO2, Cl2, NH3 and H2S) as a function of operating temperature (between 30 and 300 °C) and gas concentration (1-30 ppm). We demonstrate that these films are highly selective to H2S at an operating temperature of 100 °C, while at 220 °C the films become selective to Cl2. This result has been explained on the basis of depletion of chemisorbed oxygen from the surface of films due to temperature and/or interaction with Cl2/H2S, which is supported experimentally by carrying out the work function measurements using Kelvin probe method. The temperature dependent selectivity of Cr2O3 thin films provides a flexibility to use same film for the sensing of Cl2 as well as H2S.  相似文献

The present study investigates the interaction of NO2 gas and μ-carbido-bridged iron phthalocyanine (PcFeCFePc) films obtained by Langmuir–Blodgett (LB) and spin-coating (SC) techniques. The phthalocyanine bridged dimer under study belongs to the polynuclear unsubstituted phthalocyanines class and presents poor solubility: in contrast the corresponding N-base bis-adducts are soluble enough in organic solvents to be deposited by Langmuir–Blodgett and spin-coating techniques. The reaction with NO2 is monitored by visible spectra variation that shows identical behaviour for both kinds of films, indicating that the chemical reaction between the gas and the films is independent of the deposition method. The electrical conductivity change as a function of time with NO2 is instead dissimilar: for spin-coated films it shows a behaviour already observed for sandwich-type phthalocyanine whereas for LB films it resembles that of monomeric phthalocyanine. Such a response implies that the charges (holes) generated in the oxidation/reduction process are carried differently through the material, and we attempt to explain this behaviour taking into account the two different structural and morphological features induced by the two techniques.  相似文献

A steady and laminar convective flow has been numerically simulated in the fully-developed annular region of a finned double-pipe subjected to the constant heat flux boundary condition imposed at the inner-pipe wall. Finite element method has been employed in this study. Friction factor and Nusselt number have been studied as flow characteristics against variations in the ratio of radii of the inner and the outer pipes, the fin height, the fin half angle and the number of fins. The results show significant enhancement in the heat transfer rate in both the cases when sufficient pumping power is available and when it is not. The minimum and maximum increase in the product of friction factor and Reynolds number relative to the finless geometry is more than one time and more than 40 times respectively while gain in the relative value of Nusselt number lies in the range 1–177. This provides an evidence of more than four times enhancement in the heat transfer coefficient relative to that in the pressure loss as a result of extended fin surfaces.  相似文献

The conductivity changes of Y1Ba2Cu3O7– thin films under r.f. field and white light treatment at 77 K and under laser irradiation at 300 K were studied. The modified films were found to recover partially after prolonged laser illumination. The kinetics of photoactivation was investigated. The observed nonthermally induced changes were associated with free carrier trapping and local disordering of the lattice.  相似文献

High-T c superconductivity has generated a great deal of interest because of the challenges it presents in the fields of material science, condensed matter physics, and electrical engineering, and because of the potential applications which may result from these research efforts. Thin-film passive microwave components may become the first high-temperature superconducting (HTS) devices available for widespread use and commercialization. In this article, we review aspects of material science, physics, and engineering which directly impact high-T c superconducting microwave devices and discuss issues which determine the performance of these devices. Methods of growing HTS thin films on large-area substrates, techniques for fabricating single-level HTS passive microwave components, and the relevant properties of high-T c superconducting films are discussed, with a focus on thin films of the HTS material YBa2Cu3O7–. Several known mechanisms for microwave loss in both the superconductor and the dielectric substrate are presented. An overview of the general classes of superconducting passive microwave devices is given, and representative microwave devices which have been recently demonstrated are described in detail. Examples of a select few HTS active microwave components are also presented. Potential microwave applications are illustrated with comparisons to current technology.  相似文献

Electrodeposition of both epitaxial and polycrystalline continuous films of dense, coherent, and well-adherent silicon coatings was achieved from molten fluorides. A dissolving Si anode and an operating temperature of about 750 C were utilized. Silicon electrocrystallization epitaxy (ECE) produced films with the (111) orientation on Si substrates of the same orientation. The unintentionally doped films were of p-type character with a resistivity in the range 0.05 - 0.10 Ω-cm. Polycrystalline Si films were similarly electroplated onto various polycrystalline metal substrates. Uniform coherent, and well-adherent coatings with grain diameters as large as 40 – 50 μm were obtained. The useful rate of electrodeposition of Si could be significantly increased by the application of an alternating square wave pulse (ASWP)2technique. Cathodic current pulses as high as 300 mA/cm2 (growth rate of about 5 μm/min) were demonstrated. The cathodic current efficiencies, for all modes of growth, were about 70 – 100%. The effects of the various operating parameters, and some prospective applications to the fabrication of solar cells, are discussed. A common design of piezoelectric microactuators adopts a membrane structure that consists of a base silicon diaphragm, a layer of bottom electrode, a layer of piezoelectric thin film, and a layer of top electrode. In particular, the piezoelectric thin film is often made of lead-zirconate-titanate (PZT) for its high piezoelectric constants. When driven electrically, the PZT thin film extends or contracts flexing the membrane and generating an out-of-plane displacement. Many manufacturing defects, however, could significantly reduce the designed actuator displacement. Examples include residual stresses, warping, non-uniform etching of the silicon diaphragm, and misalignment between the top electrode and the silicon diaphragm. The purpose of this paper is to develop a dual top-electrode design to enhance the actuator displacement. In this design, the top electrode consists of two disconnected (thus independent) electrode areas, while a continuous bottom electrode serves as the ground. The two top electrodes are located in two regions with opposite curvature when the diaphragm deflects. When the two top electrodes are driven in an out-of-phase manner, the actuator displacement is enhanced. Finite element analyses and experimental measurements both confirm the feasibility of this design. When manufacturing defects are present, experimental results indicate that the actuator displacement can be optimized by adjusting the phase difference between the dual top electrodes.  相似文献
