File swarming (or file sharing) is one of the most important applications in P2P networks. In this paper, we propose a stochastic framework to analyze a file-swarming system under realistic setting: constraints in upload/download capacity, collaboration among peers and incentive for chunk exchange. We first extend the results in the coupon system [L. Massoulie, M. Vojnovic, Coupon replication systems, in: Proc. ACM SIGMETRICS, Banff, Alberta, Canada, 2005] by providing a tighter performance bound. Then we generalize the coupon system by considering peers with limited upload and download capacity. We illustrate the last-piece problem and show the effectiveness of using forward error-correction (FEC) code and/or multiple requests to improve the performance. Lastly, we propose a framework to analyze an incentive-based file-swarming system. The stochastic framework we propose can serve as a basis for other researchers to analyze and design more advanced features of file-swarming systems. 相似文献

The residual intergranular strains in textured Zircaloy-2 plate samples induced by cooling from 823 K to ambient temperatures, by cold-rolling by 1.5% and 25% and by deforming in tension by 1.5% were measured by neutron diffraction. The strong rolling texture, which gives rise to two ideal orientations, permitted the interpretation of much of the data in terms of strain tensors for the two orientations. The experimental results were compared with calculations based on the elasto-plastic self-consistent model with no adjustable parameters. Close agreement was obtained for samples in the as-cooled state and deformation in tension by 1.5% but the agreement is less satisfactory for cold-rolling. 相似文献

The Fe-Cu system is of relevance to the nuclear industry because of the deleterious consequences of Cu precipitates in the mechanical properties of Fe. Several sets of classical potentials are used in molecular dynamics simulations studies of this system, in particular that proposed by Ludwig et al. [M. Ludwig, D. Farkas, D. Pedraza, S. Schmauder, Model. Simul. Mater. Sci. Eng. 6 (1998) 19]. In this work we extract thermodynamic information from this interatomic potential. We obtain equilibrium phase diagram and find a reasonable agreement with the experimental phases in the regions of relevance to radiation damage studies. We compare the results with the predicted phase diagram based on other potential, as calculated in previous work. We discuss the disagreements found between the phase diagram calculated here and experimental results, focusing on the pure components and discuss the applicability of these potentials. Improved potentials, primarily for the pure components, should be developed to account for proper phase stability in the solid phase up to melting. Substance P G-protein coupled receptor and the antigen recognitionsite of a monoclonal antibody raised against substance P sharea stretch of five contiguous identical amino acids. This observationprompted us to build an atomic model of both the receptor andthe antibody and to analyse their common features. In particular,we report here that a pocket of similar size and compositionis present in both proteins, strongly suggesting a similarityin the mode of binding of both macromolecules to substance P.From the analysis of our models, the available data on the modeof binding of the antibody to substance P and recent data onsubstance P receptor mutants, we concluded that the pocket isvery likely to be involved in binding of the C-terminal 'messagesequence' of the tachykinin. This allowed us to suggest specificsite-directed mutants of the receptor which should shed somelight on the mechanism of peptide recognition by G-protein coupledreceptors. 相似文献
