Microstructures offer enhancements in boiling heat transfer by increasing bubble departure frequency, active nucleation site density, critical cavity size, and surface area. Integration of microstructures to surfaces alters significant surface parameters such as porosity of the microstructured plates, contact angle, and configuration of microstructures on the surface, which all affect boiling heat transfer. The goal of this study is to investigate boiling heat transfer on different microstructured plates and the effect of various microscale surface morphologies on boiling heat transfer. The microstructured surfaces were formed on aluminum alloy 2024 sheets with the use of a simple and environmentally friendly technique of random mechanical sanding (grits of #36, #60, #400, and #1,000). Distilled water was pumped using a micro gear pump to the rectangular minichannel test section at flow rates of 100, 180, and 290 ml/min, which correspond to mass fluxes of 5.46, 10.58, and 16.15 kg/m2.s, respectively. It was observed that surfaces with low grit (grit #36) showed no considerable enhancement, whereas the use of higher grit counts considerably enhanced boiling heat transfer up to a critical grit count. The fluidization velocity and mean particle size were selected to be numerically investigated pertaining to their effects on the gas–particle circulation pattern within a fluidized bed granulator by three-dimensional computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation applying an Eulerian–Eulerian two-fluid model. The CFD simulations were designed by full factorial design method and the developed CFD model was experimentally validated. The fluidization process was proved to reach a quasi-steady state. The gas–particle circulation pattern and particle concentration distribution were analyzed based on fluidization velocity and mean particle size. Biodegradation of the pesticides 2,4‐D have been investigated in a net draft tube airlift bioreactor at different concentrations (10–160 ppm) and air flow rates (0.75–4 L min?1), employing acclimatised activated sludge. A modification for the glass draft tube airlift bioreactor was proposed in which the draft tube is made of non‐woven polypropylene textile net. The experiments were carried out as well in a bubble column (BC) for comparison. The results confirmed that immobilising the activated sludge on the net of the draft tube could enhance the substrates mass transfers and improve the biodegradation rate. In this paper, we report on the use of X‐ray tomography to determine the liquid load point in 0.1 m diameter modular catalytic distillation packings Katapak‐SP11 and Katapak‐SP12. The liquid load point corresponds to the overall packed bed liquid load above which there is an increment in the liquid flowing outside the catalytic baskets and the catalytic baskets themselves are saturated with liquid. From tomographic images, we show that several factors affect the wetting and filling of catalytic baskets. The complex hybrid structure of catalytic packings influences the liquid distribution inside the elements. The liquid preferentially fills the external catalytic baskets because they receive the liquid not only from the packing element situated above but also from the wall wipers. Moreover, liquid hold‐up inside a catalytic basket section depends significantly on the vertical position in the packing element and on the position of the packing in the column packed bed. The counter–current gas flow speeds up the process of liquid filling of the baskets, also for low liquid loads. The non‐uniform distribution of liquid in catalytic basket which is observed experimentally makes the identification of a unique liquid load point not straightforward. 相似文献

采用活性污泥法,以牛粪浆作污泥源,结合新型的射鼓泡环流三相生物反应器,试验研究了三苯甲烷类碱性染料废水降解过程。选用粉煤灰为载体,研究了废水降解过程中的影响因素,确定了最优操作条件;通过流量为6m^3/h,操作温度为28℃左右,PH介于6.5-7.5,废水处理量为40L/h;连续降解时脱率大于909%CODcr的去除率大于70%。 相似文献
