Life cycle assessment (LCA) is an environmental assessment tool generally applied to products but also to processes. Features of the LCA of processes are presented in this paper. This approach was used to compare two flue gas cleaning processes: the typical wet-type process and the new transported droplets column process. The LCA result shows that the global environmental burden is similar between the two processes, which confirms the viability of the transported droplets column. The distribution of the environmental burden, however, is different between the two processes. The weak points of the transported droplets column are the pollution transfer from air to water and a larger volume to stabilize. Its strong point: it is more efficient in capturing dust particles and toxic pollutants. This process could be improved from an environmental standpoint by adding an electrostatic filter upstream of the transported droplets column to capture the particles. The laboratory results of the transported droplets column need, however, to be confirmed at a larger scale. 相似文献

In order to settle the membrane fouling of reverse osmosis membranes in seawater desalination process, this study reported a novel strategy based on forward-osmosis process and discussed the effects of different factors like different cleaning combination among reverse osmosis product, simulated reverse osmosis concentrate and simulated seawater, as well as cleaning time on the membrane permeate flux and salt rejection. For irreversible fouling, the effects of different chemical cleaning agents, immersion time and concentration were also investigated in this study. The results exhibited that the cleaning combination between diluted water and simulated reverse osmosis concentrate possessed the best cleaning performance in the process of forward-osmosis cleaning. Such approach also enhanced normalized flux from 9.48 L/(m2·h·MPa) to 13.6 L/(m2·h·MPa) and enhanced NaCl rejection from 80.59% to 92.80%. Furthermore, the normalized flux was enhanced from 9.48 L/(m2·h·MPa) to 14.3 L/(m2·h·MPa) and NaCl rejection was also enhanced from 80.59% to 96.27% after soaking in 2%(mass) citric acid solution for 2h, soaking with 1%(mass) ethylenediamine tetra-acetic acid tetrasodium salt and 0.3%(mass) sodium tripolyphosphate solution for 1.5 h. According to the result of SEM images and AFM images, the forward-osmosis cleaning strategy could not cause the damage of selective layer of membrane surface and caused the drop of inorganic and organic fouling on the membrane surface. Hence, cleaning fouled RO membranes by such approach could prolong the chemical cleaning cycle and reduce the amount of chemical cleaning agent, which has certain industrial application perspectives. 相似文献

A pulsed CO2 laser-based system, operating at a wavelength of 10.6 μm, was used as a cleaning tool to remove particles as small as 0.1 μm from hydrophilic, oxidized silicon surfaces. The laser beam served as a fast heating source to induce the explosive evaporation of a water film deposited on the particle-contaminated surface. The resulting explosive forces were high enough to expel particles from the surface efficiently. The contaminant particles used were 0.1 μm alumina, 0.1-0.2 μm silica, and 0.1 μm polystyrene latex.
For each of these, the cleaning efficiency was monitored as a function of the laser fluence, the thickness of the deposited water film and the number of cleaning cycles. Whatever the nature of the particles, the cleaning efficiency was characterized by an upper limit of the energy density, determined to be 1.5 J/cm2, at which substrate damage occurred. At all lower laser fluences, the removal efficiency was particle-dependent.
The thickness of the deposited water film was varied by changing the time of exposure of the surface to water vapor, the vapor flow being fixed at 4700 ml/min. An exposure time of 1.5 s was found to be the most effective. Increasing the number of cleaning cycles permitted the evaluation of the effect of the zeta potentials of the particles with respect to that of the surface. 相似文献
