Amorphization, phase transformation, and dilation cracking are 3 major deformation/failure mechanisms of monocrystalline 6H‐SiC. This paper studies their critical formation conditions and mechanisms under hydrostatic pressure and uniaxial compression and tension with the aid of large‐scale molecular dynamics simulations. It was found that under hydrostatic pressure the major deformation mechanism is amorphization, that under uniaxial compression the major mechanism turns to phase transformation at low temperature and amorphization at high temperature, and that under uniaxial tension the dominating mechanism becomes dilation cracking. Increasing the temperature reduces the thresholds significantly and brings about a heterogeneous deformation mode. The study further concluded that these deformation mechanisms and their thresholds can be predicted theoretically. 相似文献

The equiareality of NURBS surfaces greatly affects the results of visualization and tessellation applications, especially when dealing with extruding and intruding shapes. To improve the equiareality of given NURBS surfaces, an optimization algorithm using the Möbius transformations is presented in this paper. The optimal Möbius transformation is obtained by computing the intersection of two planar algebraic curves, whose coefficients are computed explicitly for Bézier and B-spline surfaces, while numerically for NURBS surfaces. Message passing notations (language, package, etc.) typically include some form of asynchronous or synchronous invocation. In a synchronous invocation, the invoker waits for the invocation's servicer to pass back results. Some message passing notations also include early reply or deferred reply (including forwarding), which alters how and when the servicer passes back its results; this additional flexibility is useful in realistic applications. It is well known how to transform a synchronous invocation into only asynchronous invocations. This paper extends such transformations to early reply and forward. This paper also describes the use of these transformations within the implementations of programming notations. A solid solution of (1?x)Pb(Lu1/2Nb1/2)O3–xPbTiO3 with composition of 0.01 ≤ x ≤ 0.08 have been prepared successfully. XRD analysis indicates the crystal structure adopts an orthorhombic (O) phase in 0.01 ≤ x ≤ 0.06 interval and becomes the coexistence of O and rhombohedral (R) phase at x = 0.07, then turns into R phase mostly at x = 0.08. In addition, two sets of superlattice reflections due to B‐site ordering and antiparallel cation displacement are distinguished by XRD and the superstructures which arise from antiparallel cation displacement disappear gradually with the increasing x. The grain size increases gradually with the increasing x, and then becomes the bimodal microstructure at x ≥ 0.06 due to the coexistence of O and R phase. The dielectric spectra exhibit Curie temperature decreases from 248°C to 147°C with increasing x from 0.01 to 0.08. As 0.01 ≤ x ≤ 0.04, the samples display typical double hysteresis loops, suggesting antiferroelectric nature, then turn into ferroelectric gradually at x = 0.05. Finally, it exhibit typical ferroelectric hysteresis loops in 0.06 ≤ x ≤ 0.08 interval. 相似文献

Carbon-fiber-reinforced carbon–silicon carbide (C/C–SiC) composites were prepared by impregnating carbon fibers with ethynylphenyl-terminated poly(silylene–acetylene) (EPTSA) as a single-source precursor with subsequent hot pressing and pyrolysis. The structural evolution, crystallization behavior, and graphitization of bulk C–SiC ceramics, as well as their mechanical properties and ablation behavior, were investigated. The EPTSA precursor starts to transform into inorganic SiC ceramic materials at 800°C, which is characterized by an amorphous structure with weight loss, shrinkage, and densification between 800 and 1000°C. The formation of SiC crystals inhibited the growth of the graphitic structure between 1000 and 1200°C. As the temperature was raised, both graphite and SiC crystals continued to grow, and the crystalline forms became more complete. The carbon-fiber cloth (T300CF)-reinforced C–SiC composite (T300CF/C–SiC) prepared using polymer infiltration and pyrolysis (PIP) exhibited excellent mechanical properties. After five PIP cycles, the flexural strength, flexural modulus, and interlaminar shear strength of the T300CF/C–SiC composite reached 169 MPa, 32.5 GPa, and 9.38 MPa, respectively. In addition, the chopped-carbon-fiber-reinforced C–SiC composite fabricated using the PIP process demonstrated good oxyacetylene-torch ablation properties. 相似文献

In this research, near fully dense single phase bulk multicomponent transition metal nitride (Nb1/3Ta1/3Ti1/3)N1−δ has been successfully synthesized from mixed commercial powders of NbN, TaN and TiN via reaction flash sintering technique. This was performed with an applied pressure of ~ 35 MPa at 25°C under a constant DC electric field (~24-32 V/cm). The flash event, which is the abrupt increase in current (up to ~ 25.2 A/mm2) and temperature, occurred without preheating. The threshold power dissipation on the sample right before the flash is ~ 0.7 W/mm3. The formation of single phase (Nb1/3Ta1/3Ti1/3)N1−δ random solid solution and its compositional uniformity were confirmed by XRD and EDS, respectively. The effects of ball milling duration and limiting current density on phase formation were studied. Simulation based on Joule heating provides an estimate of the ultimate sample temperature of ~ 1850°C. Vickers hardness of the obtained (Nb1/3Ta1/3Ti1/3)N1−δ is 17.6 ± 0.6 GPa, which is comparable to similarly flash sintered ingredient binary nitrides of TaN and NbN. TGA in air shows that the oxidation resistance of (Nb1/3Ta1/3Ti1/3)N1−δ is better than that of TaN and NbN but inferior to TiN. The study demonstrates that reaction flash sintering can be a highly efficient technique for synthesizing bulk multicomponent ceramics for both material fundamental investigations and application development. 相似文献

High-porosity yttria- and ytterbia-stabilized zirconia aerogels offer the potential of extremely low thermal conductivity materials for high-temperature applications. Yttria- and ytterbia-doped zirconia aerogels were synthesized using a sol-gel approach over the dopant range of 0-20 atomic percent. Surface area, pore volume, and morphology of the as-dried aerogels and materials thermally exposed for short periods of time to temperatures up to 1200°C were characterized by nitrogen physisorption, scanning and transmission electron microscopy, and X-ray diffraction. The aerogels as supercritically dried all were X-ray amorphous. At a 5% dopant level, a tetragonal structure with a smaller monoclinic phase developed on thermal exposure. Mixed tetragonal and cubic phases or predominantly cubic materials were observed at higher dopant levels, depending on the dopant level, temperature and exposure time. The formation of crystalline phases was accompanied by loss of surface area and pore volume, although some mesoporous structure was maintained on short-term exposure to 1000°C. Incorporation of the smaller Yb atom into the lattice structure resulted in smaller lattice dimensions on crystallization than was seen with Y doping and favored a more highly equiaxed structure. Aerogels synthesized with 15% Y maintained the smallest particle size without evidence of sintering at 1100°C. Largest shrinkage and loss of pore volume occurred on crystallization from the amorphous phase, with further loss of pores at temperatures above 1000°C attributable to changes in lattice parameters. 相似文献

Urea has become the most important N carrier in many parts of the world and its reaction when added to soil is unique in many ways. Two field experiments were therefore undertaken using15N to investigate the uptake efficiency of the added urea-15N which was banded in Experiment I and broadcast in Experiment II. In both experiments the uptake efficiencies were not affected by N-rate and cropping system (Exp. I) or crop residue management (Exp. II) and averaged 17.4 and 16.9% respectively. These low values were supported by evidences of high losses; high pH increases following urea application (volatilization), downward movement of N (leaching), and cycles of waterlogged and well drained conditions in the soil (de-nitrification). Evidence of leaching at least down to 30 cm in the profile was observed in the first experiment where urea was banded but not in experiment II where it was broadcast. The proportion of N in the crop that was derived from added urea (%Ndff) was 57.7% and 36.4% in experiments I and II respectively, suggesting that band application resulted in a higher proportion of the added N in the root zone compared to that for broadcast application. The results indicate the need to investigate other management strategies, such as higher application frequencies and placement closer to the root zone, in order to improve the uptake efficiency of added urea-N in upland rainfed dasheen. 相似文献
