Nowadays, there is a renewed interest in bone changes in experimental and clinical nephrology. However, the need for understanding the peculiarity of bone can be traced back to the 5th century BC, when Empedocles of Acragas put forward a theory of a world made of air, water, fire, and earth governed by love and hate. By observing the various body tissues, he strove to demonstrate that they consisted of 4 elements assembled with different mathematical ratios (logos). Blood is considered the most perfect tissue, because the ratio between elements is one. Bone is a very unusual tissue because it is made of 2 parts of earth, 2 parts of water, and 4 parts of fire. Corrosion products are identified on Zn, ZnMg and ZnAlMg coatings in cyclic corrosion tests with NaCl or Na2SO4 containing atmospheres. For Mg-containing alloys the improved corrosion resistance is achieved by stabilization of protective simonkolleite and zinc hydroxysulfate. At later stages, the formation of layered double hydroxides (LDH) is observed for ZnAlMg. According to thermodynamic modeling, Mg2+ ions bind the excess of carbonate or sulfate anions preventing the formation of soluble or less-protective products. A preferential dissolution of Zn and Mg at initial stages of corrosion is confirmed by in situ dissolution measurement. Temperature-dependent photoluminescence (PL) and contactless electroreflectance (CER) were used to characterize a ZnxCd1−xSe/Znx′Cdy′Mg1−x′−y′Se asymmetric coupled quantum well (ACQW) structure in the range of 10-300 K. The PL peak position yielded information of the fundamental excitonic recombinations. A detailed analysis of the CER spectra led to the identification of various interband transitions. The intersubband transitions were then estimated and found to be in a good agreement with the previous report of Fourier-transform infrared absorption measurements. At low temperature, the PL spectra of the sample showed an asymmetric behavior with an exponential tail at the lower-energy side and were attributed to the localized excitonic recombinations due to potential fluctuations. Detailed study of the temperature dependence of the excitonic transition energies indicated that the main influence of temperature on the quantized transitions is through the temperature dependence of the band gap of the constituent material in the well. 相似文献

SHR/NDmcr-cp (cp/cp) rats (SHR/NDcp) are an animal model of metabolic syndrome. A previous study of ours revealed drastic increases in the mass of palmitic (16:0), oleic (18:1n-9), palmitoleic (16:1n-7), cis-vaccenic (18:1n-7) and 5,8,11-eicosatrienoic acids in the liver of SHR/NDcp. However, detailed information on the class of lipid accumulated and the mechanism responsible for the overproduction of the accumulated lipid in the liver was not obtained. This study aimed to characterize the class of lipid accumulated and to explore the mechanism underlying the lipid accumulation in the liver of SHR/NDcp, in comparison with SHR/NDmcr-cp (+/+) (lean hypertensive littermates of SHR/NDcp) and Wistar Kyoto rats. In the liver of SHR/NDcp, de novo synthesis of fatty acids (16:0, 18:1n-9 and 16:1n-7) and triacylglycerol (TAG) synthesis were up-regulated and fatty acid β-oxidation was down-regulated. These perturbations of lipid metabolism caused fat accumulation in hepatocytes and accumulation of TAG, which were enriched with 16:0, 18:1n-9 and 16:1n-7, in the liver of SHR/NDcp. On the other hand, no changes were found in hepatic contents of diacylglycerol and unesterified fatty acid (FFA); among FFA, there were no differences in the hepatic concentrations of unesterified 16:0 and stearic acid between SHR/NDcp and two other groups of rats. Moreover, little change was brought about in the expression of genes responsive to endoplasmic reticulum stress in the liver of SHR/NDcp. These results may reinforce the pathophysiological role of stearoyl-CoA desaturase 1 and fatty acid elongase 6 in the liver of SHR/NDcp. 相似文献

In this study, the hydrogen storage properties of MgH2 with the addition of K2TiF6 were investigated for the first time. The temperature-programmed desorption results showed that the addition of 10 wt% K2TiF6 to the MgH2 exhibited a lower onset desorption temperature of 245 °C, which was a decrease of about 105 °C and 205 °C compared with the as-milled and as-received MgH2, respectively. The dehydrogenation and rehydrogenation kinetics of 10 wt% K2TiF6-doped MgH2 were also significantly improved compared to the un-doped MgH2. The results of the Arrhenius plot showed that the activation energy for the hydrogen desorption of MgH2 was reduced from 164 kJ/mol to 132 kJ/mol after the addition of 10 wt% K2TiF6. Meanwhile, the X-ray diffraction analysis showed the formation of a new phase of potassium hydride and titanium hydride together with magnesium fluoride and titanium in the doped MgH2 after the dehydrogenation and rehydrogenation process. It is reasonable to conclude that the K2TiF6 additive doped with MgH2 played a catalytic role through the formation of active species of KH, TiH2, MgF2 and Ti during the ball milling or heating process. It is therefore proposed that this newly developed product works as a real catalyst for improving the hydrogen sorption properties of MgH2. 相似文献
