We show that using the constrained Rayleigh quotient method to find the eigenvalues of matrix polynomials in different polynomial bases is equivalent to applying the Newton method to certain functions. We find those functions explicitly for a variety of polynomial bases including monomial, orthogonal, Newton, Lagrange and Bernstein bases. In order to do so, we provide explicit symbolic formulas for the right and left eigenvectors of the generalized companion matrix pencils for matrix polynomials expressed in those bases. Using the properties of the Newton basis, we also find two different formulas for the companion matrix pencil corresponding to the Hermite interpolation. We give pairs of explicit LU factors associated with these pencils. Additionally, we explicitly find the right and left eigenvectors for each of these pencils. 相似文献

The impacts of crop rotation and input of organic matter in the form of green manure crops, straw residues and incorporation of catch crops on crop yield, nitrogen uptake, microbial biomass and activity were studied in unfertilised crop rotations differing in input of plant residues, i.e., high-input rotations with a grass-clover crop and catch crops included and low-input cereal rotations without catch crops. The parameters studied included substrate induced respiration (SIR), hydrolysis of fluorescein diacetate (FDA), arylsulfatase activity (ASA), N mineralisation, N2O emission, and soil respiration. These parameters were measured in bare soil plots, to estimate the effects of previous years' crops and input of plant residues. In neighbouring plots crop performances were registered by measuring yields, above-ground biomass and nitrogen uptake during the growing season. Generally, all measured parameters were significantly higher in the high-input than in low-input rotations. Estimates of metabolic quotients indicated that the microbial communities in the low-input rotations were less efficient in utilising the C sources than those in the high-input rotations. Calculations of N2O emission factors indicate that the current IPCC methodology for estimating N2O emission from plant residues needs to be improved. 相似文献

The O2 and CO2 respiration rates of untreated and irradiated onion bulbs (Allium cepa) at 0.15 and 0.30 kGy were measured at 4, 10 and 20 °C. The O2 respiration rate increased for 24 h after treatment from 0.19 mmole kg−1 h−1 at 20 °C for control samples up to 0.26 and 0.39 mmole kg−1 h−1 for 0.15 and 0.3 kGy irradiated onions respectively. Respiratory quotient (RQ) increased with temperature. The Q10 of the respiration of the control samples (1.61) was lower than that of any other plant tissue, but it increased with storage duration and irradiation dose. The respiration rate of control onions increased steadily over 25 weeks of storage at 4 °C, while that of the irradiated samples decreased during the same period after a peak observed after irradiation treatment. The apparent Km for the Menten–Michaelis equation was determined on a new respirometer and averaged 1.6 kPa at 10 °C and 6.3 kPa at 20 °C. However, at this higher temperature (20 °C) apparent Km varied with O2 partial pressure, proving that the respiration of onion bulbs does not follow a Menten–Michaelis‐like process. The Fermentative Index (FI) of onions was measured under anoxic conditions as CO2 production rates in mmole kg−1 h−1 at 4, 10 and 20 °C. © 2000 Society of Chemical Industry 相似文献
