The conditions for the transition from internal to external oxidation of the most-reactive component C of ternary A–B–C alloys are examined, assuming the presence of external scales of the oxide of the component of intermediate reactivity B. For this, approximate expressions for the diffusion coefficient of oxygen and for the concentration of oxygen dissolved in the binary A–B alloy matrix within the zone of internal oxidation as functions of the composition of the metal matrix within the zone of internal oxidation are used. Numerical calculations of the critical content of C needed for this transition are carried out for different combinations of values of the various parameters involved. The results obtained for the ternary alloys are compared with the corresponding data calculated for the binary A–C and B–C alloys under oxygen pressures insufficient to oxidize the most-noble alloy component. This allows to predict the possibility of existence of a third-element effect under intermediate oxidant pressures. 相似文献

The heap leaching of oxide copper ores with copper cathode recovery by solvent extraction and electrowinning is now well established as a low-cost method of copper recovery. This technology has recently been applied successfully to mixed oxide and chalcocite ores, notably in Chile at Cerro Colorado, Quebrada Blanca and Zaldivar.Currently, there are significant development efforts underway to try to extend heap leaching to chalcopyrite ores.The success of heap leaching/SX/EW has also led to a revival in the development of hydrometallurgical processes to recover copper from chalcopyrite and other copper concentrates. The current status of copper hydrometallurgy is reviewed and the most commercially attractive potential applications are explored. The advantages and disadvantages of the hydrometallurgical treatment of chalcopyrite concentrates and its preliminary economics are compared with those for the current best practices in copper smelting and refining. 相似文献

This paper investigated high-damping Cu-Al-Be-B cast alloys using metallographic analysis, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and electrical resistance measurements for transformation temperatures. The results showed that beryllium can stabilize β phase, resulting in a thermo-elastic martensite microstructure leading to high-damping capacity in cast Cu-Al-BeB alloys. Trace additions of boron to Cu-Al-Be alloys can significantly refine the grains, providing high strength and ductility to the alloys. A factorial design of experiment method was used to optimize the composition and properties of cast Cu-Al-BeB alloys. The optimal microstructure for thermo-elastic martensite can be obtained by adjusting the amounts of aluminum and beryllium to eutectoid or pseudo-eutectoid compositions. An optimized cast Cu-Al-Be-B alloy was developed to provide excellent mechanical properties, tensile strength σb = 767 MPa, elongation δ = 7.62 %, and damping capacity S. D.C =18.70%. 相似文献

Thermogravimetric technique was used to determine the oxidation and evaporation behaviour of AZ91D magnesium alloys with 5 and 10 ppm of beryllium at temperatures between 200 and 500 °C. Depending on temperature and time, the alloy experienced protective or non-protective oxidation with linear or accelerated oxide growth kinetics. During reaction in an oxidizing atmosphere, the additions of beryllium delayed the transient from the protective to non-protective scale formation. Slow strain rate tests were performed on quenched and tempered AISI 4340 steel to measure the extent of hydrogen embrittlement caused by electroplating with zinc-cobalt alloys. The effects of bath composition and pH were studied and compared with results for electrodeposited cadmium and zinc-10%nickel. It was found that zinc-1%cobalt alloy coatings caused serious hydrogen embrittlement (EI 0.63); almost as severe as that of cadmium (EI 0.78). Baking cadmium plated steel for 24 h at 200 °C gave full recovery of mechanical properties but specimens plated with zinc-1%cobalt and then baked still failed in 89% of the time of unplated controls. It was shown that hydrogen uptake and embrittlement could be controlled by depositing thin layers of cobalt or nickel at the steel/coating interface. For example, the least embrittlement was caused by zinc-10%nickel (EI 0.037) due to a nickel rich layer with very low hydrogen diffusion coefficient that formed during the initial stages of electroplating. Similarly, a 0.5 μm nickel layer was effective in lowering the embrittlement caused by zinc-1%cobalt to that of zinc-10%nickel. Furthermore, a 0.5 μm cobalt layer deposited before a zinc-1%cobalt coating gave virtually 100% recovery of mechanical properties after baking. 相似文献

The corrosion properties of austenitic Fe-Mn, Fe-Mn-Al, Fe-Mn-Cr and Fe-Mn-Al-Cr alloys with compositions of 23-30 wt% Mn, 2.8-8.2 wt% Al and 4.9-6.9 wt% Cr in various aqueous solutions of pH −0.8 to 15.3 and the passivating mechanism induced by the presence of Al, Cr, or Al and Cr have been studied using electrochemical measurements and Auger electron spectroscopic/X-ray photoelectron spectroscopic analysis. Binary Fe-Mn alloys can be passivated only in 10-50% NaOH solutions, and alloying of binary Fe-Mn alloy with Al or Cr or combination of Al and Cr seems not so obviously beneficial to corrosion resistance in HNO3 or Na2SO4 solutions. All of the experimental Fe-Mn based alloys and steels for comparison cannot passivate in either 10% HCl or 3.5% NaCl solution. The Fe-Mn based alloys containing Al or Cr or Al and Cr can passivate in 10-50% HNO3 or 1 mol l−1 Na2SO4 solutions and rainwater. In general, Fe-Mn based alloys can passivate in oxidizing acid, neutral and basic solution, but cannot passivate in reducing acid or solution containing active Cl− ions. In the passive film formed on the surface of Fe-Mn base alloys in various aqueous solutions, bound water and hydroxides are present at the surface of the film, while mixed oxides of Al, Cr, Mn and Fe are located in the inner part. The resistance to corrosion is imparted by a barrier film of bound water, hydroxides and oxides of Al, Cr or Fe, while the Mn oxides in passive film reduce the corrosion resistance. 相似文献

Corrosion behaviour of dental alloys in artificial saliva was studied using different chemical and electrochemical techniques. The order of corrosion rate for the three alloys in artificial saliva is: wironit < wirolloy < wiron99. This order agrees with the results of chemical studies for determining the cumulative ion concentration using ICP/MS. The open-circuit potential of wirolloy is more positive than wiron99. The higher corrosion rate of wiron99 compared to wirolloy is due to presence of high concentration of Mo. Increasing casting number leads to decrease Rct value and increasing Cdl. 相似文献
