Heat transfer mechanism of a swirling impinging jet in a stagnation region

Heat transfer characteristics of a swirling impinging jet have been experimentally examined using a combined particle image velocimetry (PIV) and laser‐induced fluorescence (LIF) technique for simultaneous measurement of velocity and temperature fields. The present study shows that the radial width of the jet stretches with increasing swirl intensity, and that the stretching phenomenon contributes to the maximum local heat transfer coefficient. At the stagnation region, the flow near the heated surface is mixed intermittently by reverse flows toward upstream, and spatial distributions of temperature are correlated with instantaneous velocity vector maps. The dynamic behavior of recirculation zones, attributed to swirl number Sw and impinging distance, mainly determines the turbulent heat transfer at the stagnation region. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Influence of numerical and viscous dissipation on shock wave reflections in supersonic steady flows

Numerical simulations are investigated to describe precisely the shock wave reflections in supersonic steady air flow field. The main objectives are to study the influence of the wedge trailing edge corner angle, of the numerical methods and of the viscous effects on the shock wave reflections and on the hysteresis behavior. The computations are done with different MUSCL-TVD finite volume schemes and the corresponding results are compared. The flow viscosity is also taken into account and comparisons are made between inviscid and viscous flow simulations. The results display the non-negligible influence of the numerical scheme accuracy on the results, mainly on the position and height of the Mach stem, and the relatively weak influence of the flow viscosity on these parameters. Comparisons between numerical results and experimental data have also been done and a good agreement is only observed for small wedge angles mainly due to the three-dimensional effects in the experimental setup.

在详细分析料坯在水箱内冷却热过程特点的基础上，提出了前馈和反馈相结合的水流量优化控制策略，并将该策略应用于宝钢线材厂控冷轧线上。实际运行结果表明：该策略能够合理地控制水箱水流量，从而保证了线材水箱出口处的温度满足工艺要求，大大提高了线材成品的质量。所做工作对国内同类企业有重要的意义。
