Proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs) with a dead-ended anode and cathode can reach high hydrogen and oxygen utilization by a relatively simple system. Nevertheless, the accumulation of the water in the anode and cathode channels can lead to a local fuel starvation deteriorating the performance and the durability of PEMFCs. In this study, a novel design for a polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) fuel-cell stack was presented which could achieve higher fuel utilization without using hydrogen and oxygen recirculation devices such as hydrogen pumps or ejectors that consume parasitic power and require additional control schemes. The basic concept of the innovatively proposed design was to divide the cells of a stack into several stages by conducting the outlet gas of each stage to a separator and reentering it into the next stage; thereby, a multistage anode and cathode system was prepared. In this relatively ingenious design, a higher gaseous flow rate was maintained at the cell outlet, even under dead-end conditions resulted in a reduced purge-gas emission by avoiding the accumulation of liquid water in the cells. The results revealed that proposed design had the same polarization curve as the open-end mode, leading to an enhanced PEMFC performance. 相似文献

This paper presents a fully automatic system intended to detect leaks of dielectric fluid in underground high-pressure, fluid-filled (HPFF) cables. The system combines a number of artificial intelligence (AI) and data processing techniques to achieve high detection capabilities for various rates of leaks, including leaks as small as 15 l per hour. The system achieves this level of precision mainly thanks to a novel auto-tuning procedure, enabling learning of the Bayesian network – the decision-making component of the system – using simulated leaks of various rates. Significant new developments extending the capabilities of the original leak detection system described in [1] and [2] form the basis of this paper. Tests conducted on the real-life HPFF cable system in New York City are also discussed. 相似文献

着重对发酵法生物制氢反应系统的丁酸型发酵的运行稳定性进行了研究分析。结果表明,在有机负荷大于21kgCOD/m3·d的条件下,丁酸型发酵具有不稳定性,在负荷冲击下容易转变为丙酸含量较高的发酵类型,从而导致系统产氢能力的下降。分析认为,NADH/NAD+的平衡调节能力是影响系统运行稳定性的一个关键因素。在高负荷条件下,由于丁酸型发酵的产丁酸过程不能氧化过剩的NADH+H+,导致产乙酸过程生成的剩余NADH+H+在系统内大量积累,使反应系统难以达到氧化还原的平衡状态,最终影响了系统的稳定运行。 相似文献

Oral submucous fibrosis (OSF) is known as a potentially malignant disorder, which may result from chemical irritation due to areca nuts (such as arecoline). Emerging evidence suggests that fibrogenesis and carcinogenesis are regulated by the interaction of long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) and microRNAs. Among these regulators, profibrotic lncRNA H19 has been found to be overexpressed in several fibrosis diseases. Here, we examined the expression of H19 in OSF specimens and its functional role in fibrotic buccal mucosal fibroblasts (fBMFs). Our results indicate that the aberrantly overexpressed H19 contributed to higher myofibroblast activities, such as collagen gel contractility and migration ability. We also demonstrated that H19 interacted with miR-29b, which suppressed the direct binding of miR-29b to the 3′-untranslated region of type I collagen (COL1A1). We showed that ectopic expression of miR-29b ameliorated various myofibroblast phenotypes and the expression of α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA), COL1A1, and fibronectin (FN1) in fBMFs. In OSF tissues, we found that the expression of miR-29b was downregulated and there was a negative correlation between miR-29b and these fibrosis markers. Lastly, we demonstrate that arecoline stimulated the upregulation of H19 through the transforming growth factor (TGF)-β pathway. Altogether, this study suggests that increased TGF-β secretion following areca nut chewing may induce the upregulation of H19, which serves as a natural sponge for miR-29b and impedes its antifibrotic effects. 相似文献
