Hydrodynamics characteristics like flow pattern, shear rate distribution, power consumption, axial pumping capacity, mixing time, and mixing efficiency of an ellipse gate (EG) impeller were investigated by experimental and numerical methods. The numerical simulation results were validated by experimental data of power consumption and mixing time. Results indicate that the axial pumping number of the EG impeller is larger than that of any other reported large‐scale impeller under laminar regime, and that the shear rate formed by this impeller is less sensitive to Reynolds numbers. In‐depth analysis reveals the different function of each part of the EG impeller under different flow regimes. This impeller provides an almost similar mixing efficiency like the double‐helical ribbon impeller under laminar regime, but much higher mixing efficiency both under transitional and turbulent flow regimes. 相似文献

We propose a novel and algorithmically simple Hough transform method that exploits the geometric properties of ellipses to enable the robust determination of the ellipse position and properties. We make use of the unique features of the evolute created by Hough voting along the gradient vectors of a two‐dimensional image to determine the ellipse centre, orientation and aspect ratio. A second one‐dimensional voting is performed on the minor axis to uniquely determine the ellipse size. This reduction of search space substantially simplifies the algorithmic complexity. To demonstrate the accuracy of our method, we present analysis of single and multiple ellipsoidal particles, including polydisperse and imperfect ellipsoids, in both simulated images and electron micrographs. Given its mathematical simplicity, ease of implementation and reasonable algorithmic completion time, we anticipate that the proposed method will be broadly useful for image processing of ellipsoidal particles, including their detection and tracking for studies of colloidal suspensions, and for applications to drug delivery and microrheology. 相似文献

On the Use of Neural Networks and Geometrical Criteria for Localisation of Highly Irregular Elliptical Shapes 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Detection of elliptical shapes is of extreme importance in several computer vision applications. In this paper a new method for irregular elliptical shapes localisation in multi-connected regions is described. This method first computes a set of elementary arc segments, which is then aggregated using geometrical decision criteria and a posteriori aggregation probabilities obtained from a neural network for Bayes classification. To identify and characterise the elementary arc segments, a cluster identification, a contour grouping strategy and some extensions to Fitzgibbon’s ellipse fitting method are introduced. These methods are applied successfully in the set-up of an automatic lime granule inspection system. The algorithm has proven to be very robust, since it is able to correctly detect elliptical shapes even when noisy data are present.
