The use of symmetrical H- and E-modes and asymmetrical E-modes in a longitudinally anisotropic dielectric cylinder with metal
mirrors at the ends to measure its permittivity and dielectric loss tangent is considered. It is shown that the method has

The Meteorological Service of Canada (MSC) has developed an operational snow water equivalent (SWE) retrieval algorithm suite for western Canada that can be applied to both Scanning Multichannel Microwave Radiometer (SMMR) and Special Sensor Microwave/Imager (SSM/I) data. Separate algorithms derive SWE for open environments, deciduous, coniferous, and sparse forest cover. A final SWE value represents the area-weighted average based on the proportional land cover within each pixel. The combined SSM/I and SMMR time series of dual polarized, multichannel, spaceborne passive microwave brightness temperatures extends back to 1978, providing a lengthy time series for algorithm assessment. In this study, 5-day average (pentad) passive microwave-derived SWE imagery for 18 winter seasons (December, January, February 1978/79 through 1995/96) was compared to SWE estimates taken from a distributed network of surface measurements throughout western Canada.Results indicated both vegetative and snowpack controls on the performance of MSC algorithms. In regions of open and low-density forest cover, the in situ and passive microwave SWE data exhibited both strong agreement and similar levels of interannual variability. In locations where winter season SWE typically exceeded 75 mm, and/or dense vegetative cover was present, dataset agreement weakened appreciably, with little interannual variability in the passive microwave SWE retrievals. These results have important implications for extending the SWE monitoring capability of the MSC algorithm suite to northern regions such as the Mackenzie River basin. 相似文献

Carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) and poly(N-vinyl pyrrolidone) (PVP) were blended to synthesize hydrogels by 60Co γ-ray irradiation. A series of hydrogels were prepared with three compositions, i.e. PVP:CMC = 5:5, 6:4 and 7:3. The properties of the hydrogels such as gel fraction, gel strength, swelling behavior and moisture retention were investigated. Compared with pure PVP and CMC hydrogels, PVP/CMC blend hydrogels possessed improved gel strength, flexibility and transparency. As the content of PVP in PVP/CMC blend hydrogels increased, the gel fraction increased while the swelling rate decreased. The hydrogels with optimal properties were obtained in a composition of PVP/CMC = 6/4 with sterilization dose (25 kGy) and further characterized by FT-IR and SEM. Properties concerning the application of wound dressing were performed by comparison with a commercial hydrogel wound dressing to find a similar moisture retention capability and improved swelling rate. The improved properties as well as the cheapness of the materials suggest that PVP/CMC blend hydrogel can be good candidate as wound dressing. 相似文献

为了研究γ辐射和热同时作用对膨润土的影响,以高庙子改性钠基膨润土为研究对象,开展了90℃热作用下、不同剂量率和不同累积剂量的γ辐射老化试验。结果表明:γ辐射和90℃热同时作用引起了膨润土物理化学性质和微观结构的变化。在老化作用后,膨润土的吸水率、pH值、阳离子交换容量、层荷以及蒙脱石001晶面方向的微晶尺寸均减小,比参考样分别降低了(最大减幅)18.4%、7.8%、3.4%、2.9%和15.6%,且表现出剂量率效应;老化作用对膨润土的矿物成分及含量影响较小。在高放废物地质处置的工程屏障设计和安全评价中,应考虑膨润土性质变化的影响因素。 相似文献
