This paper presents the results of an experimental and analytical investigation on the structural behaviour of a composite panel system consisting of two outer skins of profiled thin-walled steel plates with lightweight foamed concrete (LFC) core under axial compression. The gross dimensions of the test specimens were 400 mm×400 mm×100 mm. A total of 12 tests were carried out, composed of two duplicates of 6 variants which were distinguished by two steel sheeting thicknesses (0.4 mm and 0.8 mm) and three edge conditions of the sheeting. The density of LFC was 1000 kg/m3. Experimental results include failure modes, maximum loads and load-vertical strain responses. In analysis, full bond between the steel sheets and the concrete core was assumed and the LFC was considered effective in restraining inward buckling of the steel sheets. Using the effective width method for the steel sheets, the load carrying capacities of the test specimens were calculated and compared with the experimental results. It was found that a combination of the Uy and Bradford plate local buckling coefficients with the Liang and Uy effective width formulation produced calculation results in good agreement with the experimental results. Finally, a feasibility study was undertaken to demonstrate the applicability and limit of this new composite walling system in low rise construction. 相似文献

The objective of this work is to establish dynamic similarity relationships for self-adaptive composite marine rotors. Although scaling laws are well established for rigid propellers and turbines, relative little work has been shown for flexible marine rotors that are designed to interact with the surrounding flow. Considering recent interests in the development of large-scale, energy-efficient composite marine propellers and turbines, it is crucial to understand the scaling relationships to properly design and interpret model-scale studies. Explanations of the similarity requirements are presented, along with scaling factors for the various fluid and structural parameters that control the dynamic interactions between the flexible rotor and the surrounding flow. Finally, numerical results obtained using a fully coupled, three-dimensional, boundary element method–finite element method is shown to demonstrate the validity of theoretical scaling relationships and to investigate scaling effects. The results suggest that for most marine rotors where gravitational forces are negligible compared to other dominant forces and the boundary layer is fully turbulent, it is most practical to conduct model-scale experiments to satisfy Mach number similarity, even though the Mach number will be much less than one for most marine applications. 相似文献

Multiwalled carbon nanotubes were homogenously dispersed into a magnesium alloy (AZ31) using friction stir processing. The microstructural features, mechanical behaviors including microhardness, and wear properties were investigated. The results showed a significant improvement in wear resistance in the friction stir-processed AZ31 alloy containing multiwalled carbon nanotubes compared to that of the as-received alloy. This was attributed to its higher microhardness and lower coefficient of friction due to the presence of finer matrix grains and uniform dispersion of multiwalled carbon nanotubes. 相似文献

Conoidal shells are very popular roofing units owing to their aesthetic elegance and stiffness. Many parts of the globe, which were earlier assumed to be seismologically stable, are now being considered as earthquake prone. Hence the necessity to build light structures using composites has become very important. In this paper an eight-noded isoparametric shell element is applied for analyzing the bending behavior of delaminated composite conoidal shells under a uniformly distributed load with different practical boundary conditions. To ensure compatibility of deformation and equilibrium of forces and moments at the delamination crack front, a multipoint constraint algorithm is incorporated, which leads to an unsymmetrical stiffness matrix. This formulation is validated through the solution of benchmark problems. Lamination, curvature, and extent of delamination area are varied to compare the performances of delaminated conoidal shells against those with no damage. The results are carefully observed, and a set of conclusions is presented at the end of the paper. 相似文献

Addition of trichloroethane to a traction fluid was studied in a ball/diamond plate EHD apparatus by infrared emission spectroscopy of the radiation transmitted through the plate. Small concentrations of an organic chloride at first increased infrared radiance, then decreased it. Large concentrations caused a rapid decrease. During running, the infrared spectrum showed an increase of aromatics and olefins. A polymeric deposit formed on the plate. X-ray examination of the ball surface showed the presence of chlorine. Reuse of the same ball with fresh fluid resulted in similar chain of events, indicating that adsorbed chloride could promote fluid deterioration. 相似文献

Nanopowders of Ni and ZrO2 (11 nm and 90 nm, respectively) were synthesized from NiO and Zr by high energy ball milling. A highly dense nanostructured 2Ni-ZrO2 composite was consolidated at low temperature by high-frequency induction heat sintering within 2 min of the mechanical synthesis of the powders (Ni-ZrO2) with horizontal milled NiO + Zr powders under 500 MPa pressure. This process allows very quick densification to near theoretical density and prohibits grain growth in nano-structured materials. The grain sizes of Ni and ZrO2 in the composite were calculated. Finally, the average hardness and fracture toughness values of nanostructured 2Ni-ZrO2 composites were investigated. 相似文献
