Design of CLT buildings under seismic actions Cross‐Laminated‐Timber (CLT) is an engineered wood product that have been manufactured in Europe for more than ten years, and widely used throughout the continent, with good results in terms of structural behavior, building speed and quality housing. In CLT buildings, resistance to horizontal actions – wind and earthquakes – is entrusted to the wall panel and to metal connection systems to ensure the transfer of shear actions at the base of the wall and the tension actions causing the wall's rocking behavior. Moreover, metal connection systems are systematically adopted for joining the vertical and horizontal diaphragms to ensure a „box like” behavior. This paper illustrates the basic concept of the design under lateral load actions of CLT buildings, with special emphasis to the role of the connections systems, and reports some results of recent research projects, carried out at the University of Trento, by mean both theoretical and experimental investigations. On the basis of this research work accomplished in recent years, a process of technology transfer between research and practice resulted in the development of a software for the design of CLT multi‐storey buildings. 相似文献

Diagrams to evaluate the Johansen‐formulas for single shear connections of timber or wood‐based panels. Metal dowel‐type fasteners are nowadays designed by using the Europe‐wide applied, but rather complex Johansen Theory, which is effectively used by means of computer programs. This however can yield a diminished overview. In this contribution the evaluation is done by use of diagrams, which should facilitate the application of the new design rules in addition or as an alternative to other methods. 相似文献

In the context of a comprehensive analysis of the current situation in Germany’s residential sector as regards construction costs and developments in these, the Arbeitsgemeinschaft für zeitgemäßes Bauen e.V. (ARGE) undertook a specific study to investigate the use of the main materials for building walls (using both solid and timber construction methods) in residential buildings. In order to obtain comparable data, two buildings typical of the residential sector were modelled: an apartment block and a detached house. These reflect the current building situation in Germany. It should be noted that for both multi‐storey buildings and detached homes, if we look at the median cost, it is more economical to use masonry for the basic structure than timber. The cost advantage of the solid construction method over the timber method for detached houses is 4 %, and the median advantage for apartment blocks is between 4.7 and 6 %. The studies we used in our assessment of the sustainability of the building materials used (for example from TU Darmstadt) conclude that both construction methods (solid and timber) are comparable in terms of the ‘ecological balance sheet’ results achieved over their entire life cycles and occupancy phases. 相似文献
