Awards for Distinguished Contribution to Psychology in the Public Interest: Gregory M. Herek.

The Board for the Advancement of Psychology in the Public Interest presents two awards annually to persons who, in the estimation of the Committee on Psychology in the Public Interest Awards, have advanced psychology as a science and–or profession by a single extraordinary achievement or a lifetime of outstanding contributions in the public interest. These contributions might include the identification or solution of significant social problems, unusual initiative or dedication to activity in the public interest, or the integration of the science and–or profession of psychology with social action in a manner that advances human welfare. One award is presented to a senior psychologist, and the other recognizes a psychologist who has made a significant contribution to the public interest less than 15 years after receipt of her or his degree. Hereditary influences on vocational preferences as shown by scores of twins on the Minnesota Vocational Interest Inventory.

The Minnesota Vocational Interest Inventory (MVII) scores of 53 fraternal pairs of twins showed greater within-pair variances than did the scores of 71 identical pairs. For 9 of the scores and 4 of the area keys the F test showed a statistically significant increase in within-pair variance for the fraternal twins. This is interpreted as evidence for a hereditary component in interests in occupations requiring no scientific ability. The hereditary influence operates probably through personality variables. A coding system for total profile analysis of the Strong Vocational Interest Blank.

"A coding system for total profile analysis of the… [Strong Vocational Interest Blank] was proposed which would represent the elevation and shape of the interest pattern as well as have other characteristics desirable for definition, communication, filing, and research. The basic structure of the system was outlined, the steps in coding a profile were delineated, and an illustration of the procedure was given. Strong Vocational Interest Blank scores of high school seniors and their later occupational entry: II.

In order to study the predictive validity of the SVIB, 130 university graduates were identified who had received degrees in dentistry, mechanical engineering, architecture, or journalism, and who had taken the SVIB while seniors in high school. Interest scores and patterns of the 4 groups were compared and comparisons made between each of these 4 groups and 3 groups studied earlier. Each of the groups of graduates tended to obtain as high school seniors SVIB scores related to their later occupation and the relationships were both statistically and practically significant. 在以往的教学中,往往是重理论轻实践,老师主要以讲课为主,难以提高学生主动参与的兴趣.针对这种情况,结合高职高专学生的特点及知识结构、教学规律和培养目标等内容,对机械工程检测课程的教学内容、方式、实践环节、考核方式进行了创新与改革.并给出了具体实施方法.     

新型城镇化视角下珠三角地区城市更新利益机制与规划策略--以广州、深圳等地区实践为例

珠三角的“三旧”改造是在既有法律框架和格局下,通过“政策创新”对土地开发利益的重新分配的一种城市更新模式,其实质是一种渐进式的改革,项目成功实施的核心环节在于形成各方意愿一致的“地方发展联盟”。以广州、深圳等地三年来的城市更新实践为例,探讨城市更新如何在规划技术上把握核心环节,维护公共利益,促成多方共赢的局面。上述问题的讨论对我国新型城镇化视角下城市转型发展乃至土地制度的顶层设计具有重要的参考价值和借鉴意义。     

Toward consumer-centric energy network regulation: Australia's experience

Understanding the objective of economic regulation as mimicking the process of competition, rather than the outcome of theoretical competitive markets, recognises the need for regulated energy transmission and distribution network service providers to respond to consumer preferences. The regulator, network service providers, and consumer advocates in Australia have conducted experiments on ways consumer preferences can shape regulatory proposals. These experiments demonstrate that agreements about regulatory proposals between the network service provider and a counterparty representing the interests of consumers are effective in ensuring that the proposal reflects consumer preferences. The paper demonstrates that in this process, consumers can also design output-oriented incentive schemes proposed by performance-based regulation.
