Reconfigurable hardware implementation of a phase-correlation stereoalgorithm

This paper describes the implementation of a stereo-vision system using Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs). Reconfigurable hardware, including FPGAs, is an attractive platform for implementing vision algorithms due to its ability to exploit parallelism often found in these algorithms, and due to the speed with which applications can be developed as compared to hardware. The system outputs 8-bit, subpixel disparity estimates for 256× 360 pixel images at 30,fps. A local-weighted phase correlation algorithm for stereo disparity [Fleet, D. J.: {Int. Conf. Syst. Man Cybernetics 1:48–54 (1994)] is implemented. Despite the complexity of performing correlations on multiscale, multiorientation phase data, the system runs as much as 300 times faster in hardware than its software implementation. This paper describes the hardware platform used, the algorithm, and the issues encountered during its hardware implementation. Of particular interest is the implementation of multiscale, steerable filters, which are widely used in computer vision algorithms. Several trade-offs (reducing the number of filter orientations from three to two, using fixed-point computation, changing the location of one localized low-pass filter, and using L1 instead of L2 norms) were required to both fit the design into the available hardware and to achieve video-rate processing. Finally, results from the system are given both for synthetic data sets as well as several standard stereo-pair test images.

为了更准确地预测油气藏未来的经济可采储量，依据油气藏随开发必然要经历产量递减和生产收支平衡的实际。利用Logistic模型中技术可采储量、产量与时间的相互关系，经推导和改进后，再结合当前经济技术条件下的废弃产油量，预测油气藏的有效生产时间及其经济可呆储量。实践证实，改进后的Logistic模型预测结果更符合油气藏的生产实际，能为油气藏的储量管理提供可靠的依据。

Biases of Success Rate Differences Shown in Binomial Effect Size Displays.

The intent of a binomial effect size display (BESD) is to show "the [real-world] importance of [an] effect indexed by a correlation [r]" (R. Rosenthal, 1994, p. 242) by reexpressing this correlation as a success rate difference (SRD) (e.g., treatment group success rate - control group success rate). However, SRDs displayed in BESDs generally overestimate real-world SRDs implied by correlations of (a) dichotomous X and Y variables (φ coefficients), (b) dichotomous X and continuous Y variables (point-biserial coefficients [rphs]). and (c) continuous X and Y variables (rxys). Furthermore, overestimation biases are larger for rxys than for rphs. Differences in the sizes of biases linked to different correlations suggest that BESD SRDs reported for different correlations are not comparable. The stochastic difference index (N. Cliff, 1993: A. Simulations of Temperature Field in HFCVD Diamond Films over Large Area

A three-dimensional model was developed to investigate the influence of various hot filaments parameters on substrate temperature fields that significantly affect the nucleation and growth of diamond films over large area by hot-filament chemical vapordeposition (HFCVD). Numerical simulated results indicated that substrate temperature varies as a function of hot filamentsnumber, radius, temperature, emissivity, the distance between filaments, and the distance between substrate and filamentsarrangement plane. When these filaments parameters were maintained at the optimal values, the homogeneous substrate temperature region of 76 mm×76 mm with the temperature fluctuation no more than 5% could be obtained by a 80 mm×80 mmhot filaments arrangement plane. Furthermore, the homogeneous region could be enlarged to 100 mm×100 mm under thecondition of supplementary hot filaments with appropriate parameters.
