Meta-analytic procedures were used to examine data from 83 field studies of the Productivity Measurement and Enhancement System (ProMES). The article expands the evidence on effectiveness of the intervention, examines where it has been successful, and explores moderators related to its success. Four research questions were explored and results indicate that (a) ProMES results in large improvements in productivity; (b) these effects last over time, in some cases years; (c) the intervention results in productivity improvements in many different types of settings (i.e., type of organization, type of work, type of worker, country); and (d) moderator variables are related to the degree of productivity improvement. These moderator variables include how closely the study followed the original ProMES methodology, the quality of feedback given, whether changes were made in the feedback system, the degree of interdependence of the work group, and centralization of the organization. Implications based on these findings are discussed for future use of this intervention, and the system is discussed as an example for evidence-based management. Meta-analytic techniques were used to estimate how job insecurity relates to its postulated outcomes. Consistent with the conceptual framework, the results indicate that job insecurity has detrimental consequences for employees' job attitudes, organizational attitudes, health, and, to some extent, their behavioral relationship with the organization. Moderator analyses suggest that these relationships may be underestimated in studies relying on single-item measures of job insecurity and that the behavioral consequences of insecurity are more detrimental among manual, as compared with nonmanual, workers. Non-business e-commerce adoption refers to the use of e-commerce by not-for profit organizations such as religious organizations,
government agencies and academic institutions to reduce their expenses or to improve their operations and customer service.
Being a new research niche in the field of e-commerce, non-business e-commerce has received very little or no research attention.
This has resulted in a very poor understanding of this niche, especially with regards to its adoption facilitators and inhibitors.
Based on this impetus, a field survey of Malaysian Universities was conducted to determine the key factors that facilitate
non-business EC adoption as well as the role of gender differential. A comprehensive list of potential facilitators for the
strategic use of information technology was derived from extant research reports and used to collect data from five public
universities in Malaysia. The data were factor-analysed to determine the key underlying dimensions of facilitators. On the
basis of the resulting five dimensions namely, relative advantage orientation, network orientation, information efficiency
orientation, innovativeness orientation and competitiveness orientation, regression analysis was done to determine the impact
of the five dimensions on adoption. Dummy variable was created for gender and applied in the regression analysis in order
to estimate the moderation effect of sex typing on the relationship between the resulting dimensions and adoption. Implications

This paper explores the scale and scope of transformations in the environmental planning field, and the factors that may advance or impede their widespread adoption. A conceptual model is offered which examines scope (defined as type, breadth and structure of the transformation), and the scale of its impact (categorized as stakeholder, organizational, institutional or societal) and applies it to the analysis of several cases in Israel where environmental transformations, affecting the way in which planning is conducted, have been adopted. Conclusions include identification of conditions for facilitating and advancing transformations, including knowledge of innovative alternatives, initiative, willingness to adopt new practices, and identification of policy windows that emerge during conflict, reform, or crisis. This reprinted article originally appeared in Consulting Psychology Journal: Practice and Research, 1997, Vol 49(1), 25-34. (The following abstract of the original article appeared in record 1997-30041-003.) Offers a framework of the characteristics of the responsive organization. A responsive organization is one in which structures and procedures enhance the organization's ability to take advantage of the changes in the environment. Responsiveness, in this case, is more than just being reactive; it means that an organization is able to anticipate change and maintain a proactive orientation to the external environment. Within the framework discussed, the authors also include some of the problems that might be expected in this new organizational form. It is suggested that these tools will allow for the systematic examination of organizational performance and assist change agents in facilitating efforts intended to result in more responsive organizing.
