Factors Affecting Web Disclosure Adoption in the Nonprofit Sector

ABSTRACT

Nonprofit organizations (NPOs) are strategically using their own personal website to present themselves to the public and share information. Despite the potential benefits of enhanced public confidence and trust, reduced operating costs, improved donor decision making, and increased donations, many nonprofit organizations have resisted the adoption of web disclosure. Informed by the literature on information systems (IS) adoption and technological innovation, this study examines the primary factors that influence the adoption and resistance of web disclosure. Our sample consisted of 176 survey responses from an initial group of 3,323 U.S. NPOs. The statistical results indicate that attitude toward disclosure, compatibility of disclosure with current practices, and financial readiness have a positive influence on web disclosure adoption. The findings have implications for research and practice.     

A framework for decision makers to design a business analytics platform for distributed organizations

The growth of business analytics applications in decision making is becoming a significant component in today's organizations, and the powerful changes brought by such applications to both centralized and distributed organizations have led decision makers to revise the way they capture, process, and analyze both structured and unstructured data and make decisions. This study discusses how business analytics tools can supply distributed organizations with a new operating model, process, and outlet to disseminate knowledge, and provides a framework for building a business analytics platform that may be employed by decision makers and managers to realize the full potential of a comprehensive decision-making platform in a distributed organizational setting.     

Bridging organizations and strategic bridging functions in environmental governance and management

Strategic bridging functions performed by three voluntary, multi-stakeholder bridging organizations engaged in environmental governance and management in the Calgary Region of Alberta, Canada, are examined. Structured interviews revealed how the bridging organizations influenced an increase in municipal participation in regional-scale environmental governance and management activities. Bridging organizations connect stakeholders who would otherwise not be connected. They identify shared values and issues of concern, build trusting relationships, co-create knowledge, resolve conflict, and contribute to social learning processes. Social network structure is made visible through social network graphs. The legitimacy of natural resource management plans co-created through strategic bridging processes is also addressed.

对高校学生社团组织及活动问题的发散思考

随着我国社会主义市场经济的深入发展,青年特别是大学生的社会化问题越来越引起社会的广泛关注。大学生作为青年群体中一个独特的群体,受现代社会变迁的影响尤为突出,为此,高校的学生管理职能部门和教育工作者应该对大学生社会化问题予以更加切实的关注,而各高校生机蓬勃的学生社团及多姿多彩的活动就应该是需要认真关注和热情扶持的对象。本文试图就高校学生社团及开展的各方面的活动对于大学生树立正确价值观的意义、大学生社会化的训练、大学生职业化的转变、大学生个性化发展等方面进行发散思考,以期能够为指导高校学生社团的健康发展及提升社团活动开展的质量与实效性,同时为反思对高校学生社团组织及活动的认识提供了一个讨论的思路。

目前,我国政府对草根组织实施的干预和控制,不利于我国政府的转型和公民社会的营建．笔者从分析草根组织与政府的现实关系入手,探讨二者关系的理想模式,以期实现双赢的标．     

The economical and international dimensions of the environmental problems,environmental problems in the Black Sea region and the role of the voluntary organizations

Differently than in the past, today environmental problems have local, national and international concern. The environmental problems in the Black Sea region are a good example for this phenomenon. These problems have affected all six countries that have shores with the Black Sea. The current study analyses these problems in detail. It intends to detect potential reasons for problems and provide suggestions to solve these problems by considering the economic dimensions. In addition, the impact of problems on the city life is examined. Also, the roles and importance of voluntary organizations on solving environmental problems are emphasized.     

School psychology: A specialty of professional psychology with distinct competencies and complexities.

School psychology at the doctoral level is recognized as a specialty of professional psychology by the American Psychological Association, with corresponding licensure as a psychologist granted by state boards of psychology. School psychology also is regulated by state boards of education; they set the credentialing standards for professional practice in public schools. The intent of this article is to enhance the understanding of this distinct and multiply influenced specialty. The need for psychological services in schools is highlighted, followed by a discussion of multiple influences and licensing/credentialing issues. Next, the specialty is delineated, its distinctiveness highlighted, and competencies for practice in the public schools elaborated. Finally, education/training models and mechanisms for program accreditation are described, as are the major professional organizations in school psychology.
