This paper proposes an implementation scheme for the self-healing function in ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode) networks and assesses its performance in a developed experimental system. First, our proposed ATM self-healing scheme is described. This scheme realizes more rapid restoration of failed Virtual Paths than other self-healing algorithms, supports the node failure case, and minimizes the spare resources required. Next, an implementation scheme is proposed. We propose that the self-healing function can be implemented as a software process, and that OAM (Operation, Administration, and Maintenance) cells be utilized for fast message transmission. Next, results of a prototype system that we implemented on an ATM cross-connect system are discussed. The fundamental characteristics of restoration performance are measured using the experimental system. Based on these results, restoration characteristics of real world scale networks are estimated by computer simulations. The simulation results indicate that any-one link failure is completely restored within 2 seconds. 相似文献

Lime-based mortars containing pozzolanic additions of metakaolin, sepiolite and white Portland cement are studied in order to determine their performance as historic masonry conservation mortars. Hydration products on metakaolin-lime blended mortars include stable and metastable phases. The presence of such products has been studied by means of DTA and XRD analysis, concluding that the selection between them is mainly related with the water-lime ratio. Sepiolite addition to metakaolin-lime mortars has shown to inhibit C4AH13 formation. Therefore, the influence of phase distribution on the mechanical resistance is considered. Finally, compounds production on blended lime-white Portland cement was compared to natural hydraulic lime ones, and as a result, no remarkable differences appeared, apart from traces of possible cement Portland addition to the latter, usually not mentioned in the nominal composition supplied by the manufacturers of lime binders. 相似文献

Large-scale coherent vortical structures in natural streams and rivers dominate flow and transport processes and impact the stability of stream banks, the diversity and abundance of organisms, and the quality of running waters in aquatic ecosystems. Thus, understanding and being able to model the dynamics of energetic coherent structures in such flows at ecologically relevant scales are crucial prerequisites for developing a science-based ecosystem restoration framework. We review recent progress toward the development of coherent-structure-resolving (CSR) computational fluid dynamics techniques, based on hybrid URANS/LES modeling strategies, for simulating turbulent flows in open-channels with hydraulic structures. CSR simulations of the turbulent horseshoe vortex (THSV) past bed-mounted piers explained the physical mechanism leading to the experimentally documented bimodal velocity fluctuations of the vortex and underscored the importance of the Reynolds number as a key parameter governing the THSV dynamics. Simulations of high Reynolds number flows past surface-piercing, groynelike structures in open channels revealed the complexity of the recirculating region at the upstream face of the groyne, underscored the interaction of the flow in this region with the energetic shear layer shed from the point of separation at the upstream side wall, and demonstrated the importance of flow depth in the vorticity dynamics of such flows. The paper also identifies areas for future work and modeling challenges that need to be addressed for the computational tools to be able to accurately predict flow and transport processes in real-life aquatic environments. 相似文献
