Smartphones are both green technologies and an integral parts of green information systems that are beginning to make serious contributions toward a sustainable environment. We trace the rise of the smartphone, with particular attention given to the iPhone and its many applications. The fundamental differences between smartphone-based and more common Internet applications, and how these might enhance sustainable strategies for organizations with a green agenda are highlighted. U-Commerce is suggested as a theoretical framework that best explains this, and the four dimension of U-Commerce are employed to illustrate how innovative organizations are using the unique characteristics of smartphones to pursue environmentally sound strategies. A process that might be followed for indentifying applications for sustainable issues, making sure that the applications take advantages of a smartphone’s unique features, and that contribute to sustainability by using fewer resources, protecting resources, and improving our use of current resources. The paper concludes by identifying a research agenda for information systems scholars to pursue studying the use of smartphones in search of a sustainable information technology agenda. 相似文献

It is widely accepted that aquaculture initiatives in sub-Saharan Africa have failed to deliver benefits to society in the long run. Development of new national aquaculture strategies (NAS) is thus a common approach. In this study, we interviewed 21 key stakeholders, and a sustainability checklist consisting of 68 questions was applied to the NAS for Cameroon to understand to what extent it mainstreams sustainable development principles. The NAS assessed clearly defines the respective roles of the public and private sectors. Abstract:Associations between complexity of innovation strategy and scope of innovation were investigated in automotive component manufacturing in the developing economy contexts of South Africa and India. Understanding how strategy complexity relates to scope of innovation enables engineering managers to select the appropriate level of complexity for their firms' market access strategy. An empirical study was conducted in South Africa and in the Pune region of India. The India data yielded several significant associations between strategy complexity and scope of innovation, but the South African data yielded none. It indicates that engineering managers should consider more complex market access strategies if an increased degree of novelty or increased diversity of innovation is required; however, a simpler strategy should be considered in developing country automotive component manufacturing with a foreign vehicle manufacturer's subsidiary as the customer. 相似文献

This paper addresses an application of modified NSGA-II (MNSGA-II) by incorporating controlled elitism and dynamic crowding distance (DCD) strategies in NSGA-II to multiobjective optimal reactive power dispatch (ORPD) problem by minimizing real power loss and maximizing the system voltage stability. To validate the Pareto-front obtained using MNSGA-II, reference Pareto-front is generated using multiple runs of single objective optimization with weighted sum of objectives. For simulation purposes, IEEE 30 and IEEE 118 bus test systems are considered. The performance of MNSGA-II, NSGA-II and multiobjective particle swarm optimization (MOPSO) approaches are compared with respect to multiobjective performance measures. TOPSIS technique is applied on obtained non-dominated solutions to determine best compromise solution (BCS). Karush-Kuhn-Tucker (KKT) conditions are also applied on the obtained non-dominated solutions to substantiate a claim on optimality. Simulation results are quite promising and the MNSGA-II performs better than NSGA-II in maintaining diversity and authenticates its potential to solve multiobjective ORPD effectively. 相似文献

Rapidly and accurately modeling of microbial fuel cells (MFCs) plays an important role not only in thorough understanding of the effects of operating conditions on system performance, but also in the successful implementation of real‐time maximization of power output. Although the first principle electrochemical model has better generalization performance, it is often time‐consuming for model construction and is hard to real‐time application. In this study, a nonparametric Gaussian process regression (GPR) model is used to capture the nonlinear relationship between operating conditions and output voltage in the MFCs. A simple online learning strategy is proposed to recursively update the hyper‐parameters of the GPR model. The applicability and effectiveness of the proposed method is validated by both the simulation and experimental datasets from the acetate and the glucose and glutamic acid two‐chamber MFCs. The results illustrate that the online GPR model provides a promising method for capturing the complex nonlinearity phenomenon in MFCs, which can be greatly helpful for further real‐time optimization of MFCs. 相似文献
