A test has been devised that allows one to determine the work of adhesion and wettability in a system composed of aluminum nitride ceramics with a liquid metal without the need for experimental examination. A correlation is examined between the work of adhesion on the one hand and that criteria or others on the other that have been proposed by various researchers. Forecasts are made for the work of adhesion and wetting angle for a series of metals that have not been examined previously. A bright electroless Ni-P deposition on AM50 magnesium alloy in a sulfate plating bath was proposed by using direct plating process with non-chromate pretreatment. The electroless Ni-P plating on AM50 magnesium alloy has an admirable appearance and good adhesion. The results indicate that the electroless Ni-P deposition with non-chromate pretreatment has better adhesion than that of zinc immersion coating. Anodic polarization curves indicate that the electroless Ni-P deposition obtained from the sulfate bath has similar corrosion-resistance to that obtained from basic nickel carbonate bath. The deposition process generates less pollutant by a non-chromate plating bath and is suitable for the magnesium alloys manufacture because of its low cost. The hardness of the electroless Ni-P plated AM50 is about HV 720.6 and HV 969.7 after heat treatments at 180℃ for 2 h. The wear resistance of Ni-P plated magnesium alloy specimens is about 5 to 9 times as high as that of bare magnesium alloys.  相似文献

Free radical emulsion polymerization of methyl methacrylate (MMA) and 2‐ethylhexyl acrylate (EHA) results in the synthesis of pressure‐sensitive adhesives (PSAs) with good tack properties. Management of both the copolymer composition and the polymerization process allows one to control the behavior of the PSA. Semicontinuous (SC) processes create polymer particles whose instantaneous composition is close to that of the feed particle The SC Mixture process (continuous feeding with comonomer blends) affords nearly homogeneous latex particles and PSA films. The SC Gradient process (separate feedings at inversely varying rates) affords heterogeneous particles and films. The Batch process leads to somewhat heterogeneous films, but the hard (MMA‐rich) microdomains are made compatible with their soft (EHA‐rich) matrix because of the assumed formation of tapered‐type copolymers. Tack measurements indicate the importance of the particle and film structures. Too much hardness or softness leads to unacceptable lacks of adhesion and cohesion, respectively. Homogeneous structures prove adequate, but their tack properties collapse with rising temperature. Heterogeneous structures, with extensive phase segregation, prove unsatisfactory because they lack adhesion and cohesion. Finally, the association of well‐balanced composition and compatible heterogeneity is the criterion for suitable PSA behavior. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Routine inspection is the most common form of highway bridge inspection to satisfy the requirements of the National Bridge Inspection Standards. The accuracy and reliability of documentation generated during these inspections are critical to the allocation of Department of Transportation construction, maintenance, and rehabilitation resources. Routine inspections are typically completed using only the visual inspection technique and rely heavily on subjective assessments made by bridge inspectors. In light of this, and given the fact that visual inspection may have other limitations that influence its reliability, the Federal Highway Administration initiated an investigation to examine the reliability of visual inspection as it is currently applied to bridges in the United States. This paper will summarize results from this study related to the accuracy and reliability of routine inspection documentation. A number of important conclusions were developed from the experimental study. Generally, it was found that all structural condition documentation is collected with significant variability. Specifically, 95% of primary element condition ratings for individual bridge components will vary within two rating points of the average and only 68% will vary within one point. Documentation generally collected to support condition ratings also has significant variability as exemplified by the number and types of field notes and photographs taken by inspectors. With respect to the use of element-level inspections, it was found that element usage was generally consistent with the Commonly Recognized Element Guide. However, there is significant variability in the condition state assignments of those elements and in some cases the condition states are not applied correctly to particular elements.  相似文献
