Deconvolution based on the Richardson‐Lucy algorithm, recently suggested to be an effective method of reducing instrumental broadening effects in radiometric spectra, is applied to two examples relevant to colorimetry. The first is chromaticity measurement of light‐emitting diodes, where results are compared with more traditional weighted‐mean bandwidth correction. The second is accurate calibration of the wavelength scale of a medium‐resolution array spectrometer. Deconvolution is shown to be an effective tool in both cases. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this study, the characteristics of emotional responses to color are explored in two empirical studies. In particular, the relationship between color attributes and emotional dimensions—valence, arousal, and dominance—is analyzed. To account for the cognitive quantity of color, 36 color stimuli were selected following hue and tone categorizations and based on the CIELAB LCh system. In one experiment, the colors were presented on A5‐size glossy paper whereas the identical colors were displayed on CRT monitors in the other experiment. In both experiments, the subjects assessed the emotional responses to each color stimulus using a Self‐Assessment‐Manikin (SAM), which consists of three rows of five pictograms illustrating the three dimensions of emotion, respectively. The empirical results provide evidence that the patterns of affective judgment of colors can be profiled in terms of the three dimensions of emotion (Reliability coefficient, Cronbach's alpha > 0.7). All three attributes of colors, i.e. hue, Chroma, and Lightness, influenced the emotional responses (repeated measurement One‐way ANOVA, P < 0.05), and especially, Chroma was always positively correlated with each of the three emotional dimensions (r > 0.60 P < 0.01). Moreover, the results indicate that emotional responses to color vary more strongly with regard to tone than to hue categories. Comparing the SAM ratings between the two experiments, a systemic explanation has yet to be found to conclude that there is a media effect on the emotional responses to colors. ABSTRACTMaillard reaction products are largely responsible for the development of color, taste and especially aroma of thermally treated food. For this reason, our review focused on gathering literature from the last 10 years about the influence of the Maillard reaction products formation on food acceptance in aspects of color, texture and flavor. Maillard reaction products have a characteristic odor note and can significantly positively or negatively influence the sensory acceptance of a product. For example, pyrazines and thiols were found in most cases as the most potential odor compounds formed in MR. Another important aspect of high sensorial acceptability is food color. Color development of thermally treated products is mainly attributed to the formation of brown polymers called melanoidins. It was also noted that the increasing concentration of “probably carcinogenic and mutagenic” acrylamide is related to the darker color of a product. Not much attention is focused on the connection between Maillard reaction products formation and textural properties. Therefore, textural properties have been mostly investigated in meat products. Changes in the texture of meat products were estimated as the difference in linkage formations between proteins and polysaccharides. 相似文献

This article describes a new perceived whiteness index, C/V index, which focuses on the brightness‐enhancement effect of color components included in the spectral reflectance factor distribution of approximate white objects or in the spectral power distribution of illuminations. The index is developed on the basis of a color vision model. The perceived whiteness of 18 approximate white samples was evaluated, and then a predictability of the index was compared with 17 types of existing whiteness indices. As a result, the C/V index was one of the indices indicating the best predicting performance. The aforementioned findings show that the C/V index is effective in evaluating the perceived whiteness of approximate white objects and the brightness‐enhancement effect of color components is an important factor in determining the perceived whiteness. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. This study assessed the effect of size on colour appearance, using a colour matching paradigm where two sizes were presented in a setting similar to a normal colour selection interface. Twelve colours sampling the entire range of the colour spectrum were chosen as target stimuli. The target stimuli consisted of either a large (30° by 50°) or a small (0.5° by 0.5°) test field displayed on a cathode ray tube (CRT). In the experiment, a set of small colour samples consisting of the target and its neighboring colours was presented on the screen. Fifty‐seven participants were asked to pick a colour from the sample set that appeared to exactly match the target. Results in CIECAM02 showed a consistent increase in the apparent brightness (Q) but some decrease in saturation (s) for the larger field. Hue shifts were observed to form a systematic pattern. We noticed a discernable trend showing that, for targets of bluish or purplish colour hues, the accuracy of colour matching is lower and colour difference is greater in the condition of the large viewing field. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
