Abstract An experimental radial-flow, circular bin dryer with a dehumidifier was fabricated and tested for rough rice drying. Results showed that high-moisture paddy could be dried to 14% moisture content (wet basis) over a 24 h drying span at an average drying rate of 0.5%/h. The open-cycle system's specific moisture extraction rate and the dehumidifier's coefficient of performance were within the usual range of values cited for similar conventional systems or equipment. The quality of the dehumidifier-dried and naturally dried paddy was similar with respect to minimum grain Assuring, The system was found to be a technically feasible, more energy-efficient and safer alternative to electrical resistance heating in the conditioning of ambient air for drying under humid tropical conditions. 相似文献

Carrier gas based thermodynamic cycles are common in water desalination applications. These cycles often require condensation of water vapor out of the carrier gas stream. As the carrier gas is most likely a noncondensable gas present in very high concentrations (60–95%), a large additional resistance to heat transfer is present. It is proposed to reduce the aforementioned thermal resistance by condensing the vapor–gas mixture in a column of cold liquid rather than on a cold surface using a bubble column heat exchanger. A theoretical predictive model for estimating the heat‐transfer rates and new experimental data to validate this model are described. The model is purely physics based without the need for any adjustable parameters, and it is shown to predict heat rates within 0 to ?20% of the experimental values. A rotary desiccant dehumidifier based on an evacuated tube solar air collector with a phase change material (PCM) storage unit has been experimentally investigated. The PCM (acetamide) simultaneously stores and transfers the heat to the air during day hours. The stored heat of the PCM is utilized to produce hot air during night hours. The performance of the system is analyzed for different air flow rates at different rotational speeds (rph) of desiccant wheel. The dehumidification effectiveness (?A), regeneration effectiveness (?R), and dehumidification coefficient of performance are 8.17, 10.35, and 0.0327%, respectively, at 16 rph of the desiccant wheel with 127.23?kg/h air flow rate. The system is also used to generate dry air for 14?h a day with PCM, which shows that acetamide used as the PCM has an ability to store an adequate amount of heat to regenerate the desiccant wheel during off-sunshine hours. 相似文献

Effect of hygroscopic materials on water vapor permeation and dehumidification performance of poly(vinyl alcohol) membranes 下载免费PDF全文
In this study, two hygroscopic materials, inorganic lithium chloride (LiCl) and organic triethylene glycol (TEG) were separately added to poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) to form blend membranes for air dehumidification. Water vapor permeation, dehumidification performance and long‐term durability of the membranes were studied systematically. Membrane hydrophilicity and water vapor sorbability increased significantly with higher the hygroscopic material contents. Water vapor permeance of the membranes increased with both added hygroscopic material and absorbed water. Water permeation energy varied from positive to negative with higher hygroscopic content. This observation is attributed to a lower diffusion energy and a relatively constant sorption energy when hygroscopic content increases. Comparatively, PVA/TEG has less corrosive problems and is more environmentally friendly than PVA/LiCl.
