We present an investigation of the critical frequency windows permitting modulation instability in negative index materials. The principal motivation for our analysis stems from the impact of the inevitable presence of the effective dispersive magnetic permeability in addition to the effective dielectric permittivity determining the propagation model for ultrashort pulses in negative index materials. We emphasize the influence of nonlinear dispersion terms, arising out of the combinatorial effect of the dispersive permeability with the nonlinear polarization, over the MI phenomena, the outcome of its development achieved by using linear stability analysis. Gain spectrum investigation has been carried out for both anomalous and normal dispersion regime in the focusing and defocusing cases of nonlinearity and near zero dispersion regime where higher order linear dispersive effects emerge. The results of linear stability analysis have been validated by direct numerical simulation of the governing equation using the split-step Fourier transform method. We show that second-order nonlinear dispersion opens up distinct MI windows with their appropriate conditions and unlike the first-order nonlinear dispersion term, the sign of it has got deep consequences in the modulation instability scenario. 相似文献

Cotton yarns covered with hard (barium hexaferrite – BaFe), and soft (Black Toner 6745 CP-313) magnetic particles are investigated for their application in the field of functional textile. Our results reveal a rather consistent dependence of the magnetic yarn properties on the fabrication parameters (nature of the magnetic powder, composition of the coating solution, etc.). The magnetic properties (residual magnetism and coercive field intensity) of the yarns are increasing with the magnetic powder content in the coating solution. However, this is at some point leading to the degradation of some yarn properties, e.g. elasticity. Bending tests revealed that several factors improve the bending behavior of the yarns and reduce cracks. For example, a higher number of cracks were exhibited by the hard magnetic yarns compared to the soft ones. The presence of polyurethane in the coating solution leads to no cracks on the surface of hard magnetic yarns or a small number in case of soft magnetic yarns. The tensile properties of the magnetic yarns are increasing with increasing magnetic powder content. Over a certain mass percentage (45% for BaFe and 30% for CP-313), the magnetic yarns tensile strength and elongation become lower than those of the support yarn. 相似文献

A rapid method for the determination of seven predominant polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) in fish was developed. The analysis could be completed in 1 h. The PBDEs in the sample were extracted with fat by selective pressurized liquid extraction (SPLE) using acid alumina as a fat retainer. After concentration, the extract was directly injected into online gel permeation chromatography with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GPC-GC/MS) in negative chemical ionization (NCI) mode. Method detection limits of seven PBDEs were between 0.002 and 0.005 ng g?1 fat. Quantitative recoveries ranging from 81.9% to 110.3% were obtained by analysis of spiked fish. The relative standard deviations were less than 15% (n = 6). The method was applied to a certified reference material of fish; all results were in the reference ranges. It was shown to be a rapid and reliable alternative in the routine analysis for PBDEs. 相似文献

In this study, it was focused on the investigation of comfort-related properties of the fabrics treated with microcapsules containing phase change materials (PCMs microcapsules). There are limited findings about the effect of prepared PCM microcapsules on fabric properties related with the tactile comfort. In this work, we applied our produced microcapsules to the cotton fabrics and researched these fabrics’ tactile comfort-related properties such as bending rigidity, drape, fabric–fabric friction, and tenacity. One of the outstanding properties of our microcapsules is reactive carboxylic acid groups on their wall. They have the ability to bind to the fabrics in terms of their reactive chemical groups. Microcapsules on the fabrics can be durable to the effects of the rubbing and repeated washings. The fabric test results indicated that air permeability, bending rigidity, tensile strength decrease with the microcapsule treatment, whereas the fabric drape and coefficient of friction of the fabrics increase depending on the amount of microcapsules added on the fabric. 相似文献
