Prevention of falls during stairway descent in older adults

A prospective design was applied to examine how older adults would adapt stairway intervention stimuli to gait patterns during stairway descent to prevent falls. Ambient lighting and an auditory signal were used as stairway intervention stimuli. The gait pattern changes with and without stimuli were compared. No significant change of angular displacement was found between normal condition and intervention conditions under daylight and nightlight. The lighting intervention tended to increase the knee's angular velocity for both daylight and nightlight conditions, but not the ankle's angular velocity. However, adding the auditory signal to the lighting intervention under nightlight condition increased the ankle's angular velocity. Under the daylight condition, every intervention was significantly helpful to make people step on the floor more confidently compared to the condition without interventions. However, the intervention of lighting had an opposite effect on the confidence of stepping under the nightlight condition. The intervention of lighting may contribute to increase of confidence during stair descent while compromising the declined stride length in older adults and the potential “rush” factor for falls on stairs.     

Model predictive control for systems with stochastic multiplicative uncertainty and probabilistic constraints

Robust predictive control handles constrained systems that are subject to stochastic uncertainty but propagating the effects of uncertainty over a prediction horizon can be computationally expensive and conservative. This paper overcomes these issues through an augmented autonomous prediction formulation, and provides a method of handling probabilistic constraints and ensuring closed loop stability through the use of an extension of the concept of invariance, namely invariance with probability p.

1553B是飞机电传系统的通信协议,由于硬件上抗干扰仅考虑了系统内部自生的干扰,实际环境要严重得多;因为只按奇偶位作校验,所以错字漏检的概率比较大;由于回传状态字内容不全面,在漏检错字时会发生假冒错;由于指令字出错不易纠正,最好情况下靠2次重传,丢帧可能性大.漏检错帧和丢帧多会使多重冗余的表决机制失效,也会使网络管理类指令失效,成为潜伏的故障.通过定量分析,确定了一些情况下的失效率,例如假定取CAN,Profesafe同样的误码率ber=0.01时,除去最大值/最小值再取均值时的4冗余系统因错字漏检引起的每小时失效可达2×10-1次.     

Behavioral Analysis of E-commerce Acceptance in Micro-enterprises简

E-commerce present opportunities and challenges for businesses, especially for micro-enterprises. This paper proposed a theoretical framework that in line with the unique characteristics of E-commerce acceptance in micro-enterprises in Chengdu, which is based on the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology （UTAUT） model. The extending UTAUT model includes key constructs of performance expectation, perceived behavioral control and the characteristics of owner-managers.     

A general formulation of monotonically convergent algorithms in the control of quantum dynamics beyond the linear dipole interaction

This paper presents a general method to formulate monotonically convergent algorithms for identifying optimal control fields to manipulate quantum dynamics phenomena beyond the linear dipole interaction. The method, facilitated by a field-dependent dipole moment operator, is based on an integral equation of the first kind arising from the Heisenberg equation of motion for tracking a time-dependent, dynamical invariant observable associated with a reference control field.     

On the possible patterns of inputs for block sorting in the Burrows-Wheeler transformation

Block sorting in the Burrows-Wheeler transformation is to sort all of the n circular shifts of a string of length n lexicographically. We introduce a notion called the width of a sequence of n strings of length n and show that the values of widths are very different between the two types of sequences of strings; (1) a sequence of n randomly generated strings of length n, and (2) the sequence of n circular shifts of a randomly generated string of length n.     

Univariate marginal distribution algorithm dynamics for a class of parametric functions with unitation constraints

In this paper, we introduce a mathematical model for analyzing the dynamics of the univariate marginal distribution algorithm (UMDA) for a class of parametric functions with isolated global optima. We prove a number of results that are used to model the evolution of UMDA probability distributions for this class of functions. We show that a theoretical analysis can assess the effect of the function parameters on the convergence and rate of convergence of UMDA. We also introduce for the first time a long string limit analysis of UMDA. Finally, we relate the results to ongoing research on the application of the estimation of distribution algorithms for problems with unitation constraints.     

Impacts of essential elements of management on IT application maturity — A perspective from firms in China

This paper explores the impacts of essential elements of management on IT application maturity (ITAM). A game theoretical model is established to show that a firm's IT application maturity should match with its essential elements of management. In order to further validate the analytical result, a data set with 137 firms was collected via a survey instrument. Using reliability and factor analysis on the dataset, a four-dimension measurement construct of IT application maturity is proposed together with a three-dimension measurement construct of essential elements of management. Empirical analysis is then conducted to address research questions on the impacts of essential elements of management on IT application maturity. It is found that while a firm's strategic cooperation capability has no significant effect on IT application maturity, its internal coordination capability positively influences all four dimensions of IT application maturity. For the firm's execution capability, although it shows no significant effect on the overall IT application maturity, it does positively affect the technology and man-machine synergy dimensions of IT application maturity. The findings of this study offer practical guidance for organizations to better align their IT application maturity with essential elements of management.
