We study the effect of grain size of austenitic and ferritic phases and volume fraction of δ-ferrite, which were obtained in different solution-treatment regimes (at 1050, 1100, 1150 and 1200 °C), on hydrogen embrittlement of high-nitrogen steel (HNS). The amount of dissolved hydrogen is similar for the specimens with different densities of interphase (γ-austenite/δ-ferrite) and intergranular (γ-austenite/γ-austenite, δ-ferrite/δ-ferrite) boundaries. Despite, the susceptibility of the specimens to hydrogen embrittlement, depth of the hydrogen-assisted surface layers, hydrogen transport during tensile tests and mechanisms of the hydrogen-induced brittle fracture all depend on grain size and ferrite content. The highest hydrogen embrittlement index IH = 32%, the widest hydrogen-affected layer and a pronounced solid-solution hardening by hydrogen atoms is typical of the specimens with the lowest fraction of the boundaries. Even though fast hydrogen transport via coarse ferritic grains provides longer diffusion paths during H-changing, the width of the H-affected surface layer in the dual-phase structure of the HNS specimens is mainly determined by the hydrogen diffusivity in austenite. In tension, hydrogen transport with dislocations increases with the decrease in density of boundaries due to the longer dislocation free path, but stress-assisted diffusion transport does not depend on grain size and ferrite fraction. The contribution from intergranular fracture increases with an increase in the density of intergranular and interphase boundaries.  相似文献

Grain boundaries in thin Bi(1 1 0) films deposited on highly oriented pyrolytic graphite are investigated at atomic resolution using scanning tunnelling microscopy and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy. We find preferred misorientation angles Θ equal to 216°, 87°, 49°, 31°, 20°, 12° and 5°, the majority of which can be classified as large-angle boundaries. We find good agreement between the experimental results and a model of the tilt [1 1 0] grain boundary developed here. A method for estimating the surface unit cell based on measurement of dihedral angle in low-resolution images is also developed.  相似文献

A new technique is used in Discrete Least Square Meshfree(DLSM) method to remove the common existing deficiencies of meshfree methods in handling of the problems containing cracks or concave boundaries. An enhanced Discrete Least Squares Meshless method named as VDLSM(Voronoi based Discrete Least Squares Meshless) is developed in order to solve the steady-state heat conduction problem in irregular solid domains including concave boundaries or cracks. Existing meshless methods cannot estimate precisely the required unknowns in the vicinity of the above mentioned boundaries. Conducted researches are limited to domains with regular convex boundaries. To this end, the advantages of the Voronoi tessellation algorithm are implemented. The support domains of the sampling points are determined using a Voronoi tessellation algorithm. For the weight functions, a cubic spline polynomial is used based on a normalized distance variable which can provide a high degree of smoothness near those mentioned above discontinuities. Finally, Moving Least Squares(MLS) shape functions are constructed using a varitional method. This straight-forward scheme can properly estimate the unknowns(in this particular study, the temperatures at the nodal points) near and on the crack faces, crack tip or concave boundaries without need to extra backward corrective procedures, i.e. the iterative calculations for modifying the shape functions of the nodes located near or on these types of the complex boundaries. The accuracy and efficiency of the presented method are investigated by analyzing four particular examples. Obtained results from VDLSM are compared with the available analytical results or with the results of the well-known Finite Elements Method(FEM) when an analytical solution is not available. By comparisons, it is revealed that the proposed technique gives high accuracy for the solution of the steady-state heat conduction problems within cracked domains or domains with concave boundaries and at the same time possesses a high convergence rate which its accuracy is not sensitive to the arrangement of the nodal points. The novelty of this paper is the use of Voronoi concept in determining the weight functions used in the formulation of the MLS type shape functions.  相似文献

Microstructure and mechanical property of silicon nitride (Si3N4) ceramic are strongly dependent on the selection of sintering additives. When rare‐earth (RE) oxide is used as the sintering additive, segregation of RE ions at interface between Si3N4 grain and intergranular glassy film (IGF) is believed to play a critical role. Although the ionic radius of RE ion is known to be an empirical parameter to modify the mechanical property, the correlation between the segregated ions and their ionic radii is still under controversy. In order to address this issue, (i) rate of α‐β phase transformation and (ii) segregation behavior at the interface were studied for Si3N4 ceramics sintered using mixture of La2O3 and Lu2O3 as additives in this study. Specimens of Lu content 30% and higher exhibited lower activation energies for the α‐β phase transformation as compared with those of Lu content 20% and lower. In terms of the segregation behavior, La was preferably segregated at one site and Lu at the other site along β‐Si3N4/IGF interface in the specimens of Lu content 30% and higher. It is understood from these results that Lu segregation site should be more closely related with grain growth.  相似文献

Selective laser melting (SLM) manufactures components through the overlapping of multi-track and multi-layer molten pools of metal powders, resulting in two types of molten pool boundaries (MPBs), “layer–layer” and “track–track” MPBs, remaining in SLM parts. The microstructure of MPBs exhibits a complex and regular spatial topological structure. There is a coarse grain zone below the MPBs and nonmetallic elements (C, O, Si) near the MPBs are in an unstable state. Long and thin columnar grains with the same orientations distribute on two sides of the “layer–layer” MPBs, whereas the columnar grains on both sides of “track–track” MPBs have different orientations. The “track–track” MPBs are short and intersect with “layer–layer” MPBs at some points and form acute angles, where cracks are initiated when applied with external loads. The effect of the MPBs on microscopic slipping, macroscopic ductility and fracture mechanism of the SLM parts made along different directions, which were exerted a tensile loading in the as-built condition without heat treatment, was analyzed and evaluated using slip theory and experiments. The results reveal that the MPBs have a significant impact on the microscopic slipping at the loading, macroscopic plastic behavior and fracture mode, and are one of the main reasons for the obvious anisotropy and low ductility of SLM parts.  相似文献

Owing to their excellent properties piezoelectric actuators are studied as embedded elements for the quasi-statically active shape control of spatial optical mirrors. However, unwanted nonlinear effects in piezoelectric actuators, i.e., hysteresis and creep, severely limit their performance. This paper aims at developing a control methodology to compensate hysteresis and creep in a piezoelectric actuator simultaneously for quasi-static space active applications. In the methodology developed, hysteresis and creep behaviors are successively compensated by open-loop control. First, a derivative Preisach model is proposed to accurately portray the hysteresis while requiring relatively few measurements and describing the detachment between major and minor loops. The inverse derivative Preisach model is derived and inserted in open-loop to achieve hysteresis compensation. Then, the creep in the hysteresis compensated piezoelectric actuator is described by the use of a nonlinear viscoelastic model and a low pass filter is suggested to eliminate the effect of the inverse derivative Preisach model on the step reference input. To invert the creep model, the concept of “input relaxation” is implemented and an inverse multiplicative structure allows identifying the parameters of the inverse model while circumventing the difficulty of a mathematical computation. Finally, by cascading the low pass filter, the inverse model of creep and the inverse derivative Preisach model one after the other with the single piezoelectric actuator, the simultaneous compensation of hysteresis and creep is achieved. Experimental results show that in the case of step-like reference signals the hysteresis and the creep in a piezoelectric actuator can be significantly reduced at the same time. It implies that the developed methodology is effective and feasible in space active optics applications for which quasi-static distortions need to be compensated.  相似文献

Two chemically modified phenolic resins (PFs) designed and developed for the matrix resins of organic friction materials were characterized. The braking performance of organic brake pads based on the two modified resins and reinforced with hybrid fibers was investigated on a full‐scale test bench. The results indicate that the modified PF with more internal friction units possessed much higher impact and compression strengths, greater toughness, and better braking stability. We concluded that the matrix resin with more adjustable structural units allowed for an adjustable Young's modulus and dynamic mechanical properties and, hence, could indirectly allow an adjustable friction coefficient for organic brake pads during braking process and, furthermore, enable the optimization of braking stability of the friction couples. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Very high cycle fatigue carried out on pure copper polycrystals promotes early slip markings, labelled as slip markings of types II and III, localized close to grain or twin boundaries. In this work, we focus on whether Schmid criterion can predict the preferential sites of slip markings of types II and III and identify the active slip systems. Combining observations of slip markings and polycrystalline modeling, it is shown that considering pure cubic elastic behavior, maximum resolved shear stress as a criterion for type II slip markings preferential sites is 70% reliable criterion. Concerning slip markings of type III, the reliability falls to 30%. The role of cross slip is highlighted and a scenario rationalizing the stress amplitude conditions and sites to observe early slip markings of type II or III for copper polycrystals is proposed.  相似文献

Sr1-x SmxNaxBi4Ti4O15 lead-free piezoelectric ceramics are prepared by solid-state sintering method using high energy Ball- Mill and ground for 10 h. The single phase of the compound is confirmed by X-ray Diffraction and highest intensity peak (1 1 0) is observed at 30°. Diffraction peaks shifted towards higher angles with an increasing concentration of Sm3+ and Na1+ of SBT. Grains orientation and grain size are analyzed by Scanning Electron Microscope. Temperature and frequency dependent AC conductivity studies are carried out using impedance spectroscopy in the temperature range of 30 °C–650 °C using Wayn-Kerr LCR meter. At lower frequencies, conductivity is independent of frequency. The variation of Z″ with frequency shows peaks shifting towards higher frequencies with an increase of temperature. The resistance of grains (Rg), grain boundaries (Rgb) are calculated and it is found that grain resistance is greater than grain boundary resistance (Rg > Rgb). Relaxation times of grain and grain boundaries are calculated.  相似文献
