An ozone generator using a rotating electrode to improve ozone generation efficiency is proposed. The ozone generator electrode unit consists of a rotating electrode and fixed electrode. The rotating electrode has the grounded 36 pieces of tungsten wires fixed in parallel to the rotation axis on the rotating cylinder surface. A dielectric electrode is used as a fixed electrode located on the inside of the tube of the electrode unit. The width of the apparent discharge gap is 1mm. Alternating current with a frequency of 50 Hz is applied to the electrode unit. The rotation speed can be adjusted from 0 rpm to 1200 rpm by a variable speed motor. Oxygen gas is used as the material gas. Higher ozone concentration and higher ozone generation efficiency are obtained compared with that when the rotation speed is 0 rpm. The gas temperature is measured at the inlet and outlet of the ozone generator, and the rotation speed for the cooling effect is most effective at about 500 rpm. The maximum generation efficiency is estimated to be 61 g/kWh at 800 rpm, and this value is twice as large as in the case of 0 rpm.  相似文献

Prior studies have proven that ozonated vegetable oils present a high germicidal power. Ozonation of sunflower oil at different applied ozone dosage was carried out and peroxide and aldehydes indices along with antimicrobial activity were determined. The reaction products were identified using Proton Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (1H NMR). The principal signals intensity values were used for following the reaction course between ozone and sunflower oil. The reaction was following up to peroxide index values of 1202 mmol-equi/kg. The intensities of olefinic proton signals decreased with the gradual increase in ozone concentration but without disappearing completely. The Criegee ozonides obtained at 107.1 mg/g of ozone doses were approximately 3.9-fold higher than that at beginning of the reaction. The aldehyde protons were observed as a weak intensity signal in all the spectra. The signals belonging to olefinic protons from hydroperoxides appeared weak and increased with the increase in ozone doses. Signals from other oxygenated groups were assigned. The highest action spectrum of antimicrobial activity was obtained with the higher peroxide index. It was concluded that at higher applied ozone doses, the higher the antimicrobial activity potential of ozonized sunflower oil  相似文献

Organic contaminants dissolved in deionized pretreated and raw mains water were reacted with ultraviolet light and ozone. Ozone first was used for partial oxidation followed by ozone combined with ultraviolet radiation to produce total oxidation. The reduction of TOC level and direct oxidation of halogenated compounds were measured throughout the treatment process. The rate of TOC reduction was compared for ozone injected upstream and inside the reactor.  相似文献

This paper is a critical review and summary of the analytical procedures currently used by operating water utilities to control ozone treatment processes, considering disinfection as well as the many oxidative applications of ozone in water treatment applications. The role of common interferences in the various methods is described.

In operating U S., Canadian, European, and Japanese water treatment plants currently employing ozone as a primary disinfectant, ozone nearly always is followed by the addition of small quantities of chlorine, chlorine dioxide, or chloramine to provide the residual in the distribution system and to act as a secondary disinfectant. Clearly, the analytical procedures used must distinguish between the various species. This review critically presents these various factors and their implication with respect to “true values” of ozone determined under widely varying conditions.  相似文献

Decay characteristics of ozone concentration in oxygen in a chamber with three types of wall material (stainless steel, copper, and aluminum) are measured using the 254 nm photoabsorption method. Effective lifetimes of ozone are estimated from decay curves of ozone concentration. These values depend on the wall material: They are largest for stainless steel and smallest for aluminum. The relationship between effective lifetime and gas pressure is investigated precisely to determine three values. The equivalent diffusion coefficient of ozone in oxygen and the reflection coefficient of ozone at the wall correspond to the loss rate of ozone at the wall. The collisional loss (quenching) rate coefficient of ozone in oxygen is also determined.  相似文献

The present study investigates the decomposition of N-Methyl-2-Pyrolidone (NMP) using conventional ozonation (O3), ozonation in the presence of UV light (UV/O3), hydrogen peroxide (O3/H2O2), and UV/H2O2 processes under various experimental conditions. The influence of solution pH, ozone gas flow dosage, and H2O2 dosage on the degradation of NMP was studied. All ozone-based advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) were efficient in alkaline medium, whereas the UV/H2O2 process was efficient in acidic medium. Increasing ozone gas flow dosage would accelerate the degradation of NMP up to certain level beyond which no positive effect was observed in ozonation as well as UV light enhanced ozonation processes. Hydrogen peroxide dosage strongly influenced the degradation of NMP and a hydrogen peroxide dosage of 0.75 g/L and 0.5 g/L was found to be the optimum dosage in UV/H2O2 and O3/H2O2 processes, respectively. The UV/O3 process was most efficient in TOC removal. Overall it can be concluded that ozonation and ozone-based AOPs are promising processes for an efficient removal of NMP in wastewater.  相似文献

Ozone transfer to water or wastewater is necessary before desirable, effective ozone reactions occur. Several factors affect ozone transfer efficiency, including water quality characteristics, contactor configuration, and applied ozone characteristics. The design model presented in this paper addresses all factors affecting ozone transfer. The model was used to compare measured transfer efficiency with predicted transfer efficiency at four full-scale wastewater ozone disinfection facilities. A relatively good prediction was obtained at each plant.

The paper presents an example calculation of ozone transfer efficiency. Also, the effect of changes to some of the factors affecting transfer efficiency is presented, such as changes in diffuser depth, plant elevation, ozone concentration, water quality (i.e., ozone demand), pH, detention time, temperature, and acombination of factors. The design model may be used to evaluate the effect of changes in plant design on transfer efficiency, but cannot provide an absolute value for transfer efficiency until difficult-to-measure parameters, such as bubble diameter, are known.  相似文献

Advanced oxidation processes are defined as those which involve the generation of hydroxyl radicals in sufficient quantity to affect water purification. The theoretical and (practical yield of OH from O3 at high pH, 03/H202, O3/UV and H2O2/UV systems is reviewed. New data is presented which illustrates the importance of direct photolysis in the O3/UV process, the effect of the H202:03 ratio in the O3/H2O2 process, and the impact of the low extinction coefficient of H2O2 in the H202/UV process.  相似文献

Concerns regarding the possible environmental effects of organochlorine by‐products from bleaching of pulp with chlorine‐based compounds have led to the pulp and paper industry developing new bleaching sequences. Ozone, oxygen and hydrogen peroxide are the main reagents in these Totally Chlorine Free (TCF) bleaching processes.

In this study, eucalypt kraft pulps from a variety of Australian wood sources were subjected to bleaching sequences comprising oxygen, ozone and hydrogen peroxide/alkali extraction stages. The aqueous liquid effluents from each stage were analyzed by GC/MS for aldehydes, ketones, alcohols, carboxylic acids and other by‐products. Pentafluorobenzyl oxime derivatives of the aldehydes and ketones were analyzed by electron impact GC/MS. The major carbonyl compounds detected were formaldehyde, glyoxal, dimethylglyoxal and acetone. An homologous series of n‐aldehydes corresponding to cleavage of ω‐3, 6, 9 and 12 unsaturated fatty acids also was detected. Aromatic aldehydes were identified in the oxygen stage and high consistency ozone stages, but not in any medium consistency ozone or post‐ozone bleach stages. In all stages a series of saturated alkyl carboxylic acids from formic to octacosanoic acid was detected. Formic and acetic acids were present in the highest yield. Only trace quantities of unsaturated fatty acids were detected. Details of these and other compounds detected are discussed.  相似文献
