This paper describes a model based optimizer that allows a combined heat and power (CHP) unit to supply backup power to a Smart Grid on the one hand and minimize the cost for heat and power supply on the other hand. The model of the CHP unit is lean but nevertheless accurately represents the unit behavior, including thermal behavior of the storage as well as the aging effect of engine starts. Thanks to the small model dimension we can solve the optimal dispatch problem efficiently using dynamic programming. Two selected soft- and hard-ware in the loop tests are discussed to demonstrate the performance of the approach. A re-optimization strategy is discussed that allows reactions to wrong predictions of external influences like weather.  相似文献

In the context of anthropic pressures, the Tunisian Water Utility tries to achieve three objectives: financial (achieving full-cost recovery), social (ensuring access for all), and environmental (incentivizing users to save a scarce resource). After a theoretical review of water pricing, the paper presents how successive reforms in Tunisia have gradually set up an original pricing structure that has become the main instrument of the sector's policy. Using different data and methods, we investigate how each of the three objectives is reached through pricing. We conclude that this pricing policy has led to a relatively stable but partial equilibrium.  相似文献

Two shallow-angled symmetric and asymmetric skins, with off-axis fiber angles of less than 45°, were proposed and employed to a 5 MW wind turbine blade. For the symmetric configuration, shallow-angled skins were applied to both the pressure and suction sides of the blade, while, for the asymmetric configuration, only the pressure side was implemented with a shallow-angled skin, keeping the conventional 45-degree-angled skin for the suction side. The blade tip deflection, modal frequencies, buckling stability, and failure index were computed for off-axis fiber angles of 45°, 35°, and 25°. The use of shallow-angled skins improved blade bending stiffness and strength. The buckling resistance decreased for symmetric skins and remained unchanged for asymmetric skins; the former case was compensated for by increasing the core thickness. For both skin configurations, a reduction in the blade failure index of up to 18% and 38%, and mass reductions of up to 8% and 13% were demonstrated for the 35° and 25° shallow-angled skins, respectively.  相似文献

A new optimization method of the investment cost of a distribution grid supplied by photovoltaic (PV) sources. This method consists of determining the optimal grid cables cross sections and the optimal grid supply point (GSP) position, such that the sum of the joule losses and the cables investment costs are optimized. The determination of these parameters are performed by the programming of analytical equations using Matlab software, taking into account the influence of technical and economical requirements on the choice of the cables cross sections and the possibility of using several photovoltaic generators (PVG) with separated grids for spaced loads from a long distance, by optimizing the grouping loads combination. The obtained results show that: for a lowest global investment cost, the optimal GSP is referred to the minimum cost center (MCC), for the grid joule losses minimization, it can be in the minimum joule losses cost center (MJLCC); or in the center of the minimum investment cost of cables (CMICC) in the case of the cables investment cost minimization. The adoption of the optimal cross sections, the optimal PVGs (GSPs) number and their optimal positions achieve significant economic gains in terms of the investment cost.  相似文献

Abstract

The significance of occupational falls is established through analysis of workers' compensation data of a major insurance company. The data covered 11%of the American privately insured workforce and exposure estimates were based on Bureau of Labor Statistics demographics. The number of incidents and the relative cost of falls were examined by age, gender, industry, climate and geographic region and empirical data are presented. These data establish the enormous cost of falls measured in terms of individual pain and suffering and in losses to industrial organizations.  相似文献

Accurate cost estimation is essential for any Engineering–Procurement–Construction (EPC) contractor accepting profitable projects because the project price is determined prior to receiving the contract. Therefore the contractor needs to ensure engineering man-hours (MH) in order to estimate project costs accurately as well as carry out the accepted orders. In this paper, we develop MH based order acceptance strategies and investigate their effects on the total expected profit through a long-term operation in EPC projects under a competitive bidding situation. To this end we build a simulation model describing relations among the volume of MH for cost estimation, accepted orders, revenues, and profits in EPC projects. Using our model, we show that the strategy, which maintains the appropriate balance of MH for cost estimation and project execution under the variability of accepted orders with competitive bidding situations, improves the total expected profit in EPC projects.  相似文献

A study of the variability in chemical cleaning factors on permeability recovery for potable water microfiltration (MF) and ultrafiltration (UF) systems has been carried out employing a cost model simulating plant fouling and cleaning regimes. The impact of a range of operating and cleaning factors on operating cost variation was computed using algorithms describing operational and cleaning factor relationships with permeability recovery data measured from bench scale tests on fibres sampled from full-scale operational plants.The model proceeded through sequencing of the cleaning and backwashing operations to generate transmembrane pressure (TMP), and so head loss, transients. A number of cleaning scenarios were considered for each plant, based on employing either a threshold TMP or fixed chemical cleaning intervals. The resulting TMP profiles were then converted to operational costs. The effect of the variability in permeability recovery on annual operating costs was calculated for each of the simulations. It was evident that significant operating cost reductions were possible from optimisation of the cleaning protocol. Cost benefit varied according to facets of plant design and operation; the innate variability in permeability recovery precluded the correlation of cleaning efficacy with fouling characteristics.  相似文献

This paper proposes an integrated approach to identify, evaluate and improve the potential failures in a service setting. This integrated approach combines Fuzzy cost‐based service‐specific FMEA (FCS‐FMEA), Grey Relational Analysis (GRA) and profitability theory for better prioritization of the service failures by considering cost as an important issue and using the profitability theory in a way that the corrective actions costs are taken into account. Considering profitability with FCS‐FMEA and GRA reduces the losses caused by failure occurrence. Besides, a maximization linear mathematical problem is used to select the best mix of failures to be repaired. We apply our approach to an academic example concerning the potential failures diagnosis of the Internal Medicine service of a hospital located in Seoul, Korea. We applied our approach and solved the associated maximization problem by a commercial solver, producing an optimal solution which indicates the most convenient mix of failures to be repaired by considering available budget. The Flemish renewable electricity support system has struggled to address a number of problematic issues in the past. These included excessive profit margins and general malfunctioning of the green certificate market, as well as a lack of qualification of various existing renewable energy technologies. The Flemish government responded to these issues by introducing major reforms in 2013, including “banding” to differentiate the support for various technologies. However, reliable methods for differentiating renewable electricity technologies and calculating support levels have not been sufficiently developed. The main objective of the 2013 reforms was to reduce support costs, but application of German feed-in tariffs on 18 reference technologies has shown that most projects in Flanders continue to receive high levels of support. The 2013 reforms did not succeed in addressing malfunctioning of the green certificate market. On the contrary, the confidence of investors in renewable electricity plants has decreased as the terms of support can be altered retroactively by adjusting remuneration levels and through political interventions. Future adaptations are likely to be made which will further decrease the overall stability and effectiveness of the system.  相似文献
