The Adaptive Solar Facade (ASF) is a modular, highly integrated dynamic building facade.The energetic behavior as well as the architectural expression of the facade can be controlled with high spatio-temporal resolution through individually addressable modules. We present the general design process, the current mechanical design, and simulation results on photovoltaic power production and building energy consumption. We introduce the controller concept and show results on solar tracking as well as user interaction. Lastly, we present our current and planned prototypes.  相似文献

This paper reports on the design and control of a responsive envelope based on the rotation of tessellated components. The study investigates responsive and dynamic approaches for building facades and envelopes to regulate solar shading, light control, views and thermal gain within the building. It is well known that near real-time visual output from computational simulation can significantly impact the prediction of dynamic building-environment interactions and lead to the development of smart, adaptable, net zero energy buildings. To address these motivations, this paper reports the development of an experimental simulation of a responsive envelope based on using a 4-fold penttile scheme. The simulation is developed using a novel pentagonal approach involving component (tile) design, tessellation and control methods. The paper further elaborates on the geometry and control aspects of the facade subdivision and presents the results of applying this tessellation geometry to a building envelope shading study based on facade components with rotation. Finally, it tests the “responsiveness” to multiple performance metrics by applying a non-deterministic exploration method for the stochastic rotation of individual panels. The sophisticated evaluation of alternative envelope configurations for a set of performance criteria require a tighter computational coupling between modelling and control of dynamic geometry.  相似文献

This communication summarizes the use of double-skinned membranes for hydrogen separation in presence of TiO2 based catalyst (PtReCe/TiO2). The use of this type of membrane avoids the direct contact between catalyst particles and surface of the Pd-based hydrogen selective layer due to the presence of a mesoporous YSZ/γ-Al2O3 layer. The PdAg layer is protected by the mesoporous layer from direct contact with catalyst particles, avoiding erosion and possible chemical interactions. In comparison with a conventional PdAg membrane, the hydrogen flux of DS-membrane was observed not to be compromised during test carried out at 400 °C.  相似文献

The colours and architectural characteristics of building facades are the major factors affecting the general appearance of cities. When cities are examined from various perspectives, first impressions are obtained from the geometrical forms and facade colours of buildings. The facade colour arrangements should reflect the features of the region and buildings. In this context various features of natural and artificial environments such as plant life, water elements, climate, and historical texture should be examined, and a facade colour arrangement should be designed according to the examination results. In addition, the other factors effective in determining the colour and style of a building, such as social‐cultural background of the society and traditional and natural building materials, should not be forgotten because in some regions traditional buildings with special construction styles, materials, and colours create a specific identity for the settlements and cities. The aims of this article are to elucidate the colour contrast, colour arrangement, and colour design stages of mass housing and to explain the colour design of Bizimkent Mass Housing, which was constructed in a new dwelling zone in Istanbul, Turkey, as an example of such an arrangement. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. This paper, through the discussion of recently completed doctoral research, addresses the influence of occupant control in achieving occupant satisfaction in buildings with intelligent facades. The focus of the study is the most common form of intelligent facade which the research has termed automated glazed facades. These are defined by this research as highly glazed facades capable of independent physical reaction to either external or internal conditions or presets. The findings of a series of occupant satisfaction surveys and interviews in automated glazed facade buildings in the UK, Germany, Switzerland, France and the USA are discussed

Occupant control is found to be the dominant issue affecting occupant satisfaction in buildings with intelligent facades. The importance of occupant control is shown to be rooted in the occupants ability to achieve their desired conditions. The main elements of occupant concern are identified and the potential of the automated provision of occupant requirements is discussed in light of the findings.  相似文献
