Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the form of Deep Learning (DL) technology has diffused in the consumer domain in a unique way as compared to previous general-purpose technologies. DL has often spread by infusion, i.e., by being added to preexisting technologies that are already in use. We find that DL-algorithms for recommendations or ranking have been infused into all the 15 most popular mobile applications (apps) in the U.S. (as of May 2019). DL-infusion enables fast and vast diffusion. For example, when a DL-system was infused into YouTube, it almost immediately reached a third of the world's population. We argue that existing theories of innovation diffusion and adoption have limited relevance for DL-infusion, because it is a process that is driven by enterprises rather than individuals. We also discuss its social and ethical implications. First, consumers have a limited ability to detect and evaluate an infused technology. DL-infusion may thus help to explain why AI's presence in society has not been challenged by many. Second, the DL-providers are likely to face conflicts of interest, since consumer and supplier goals are not always aligned. Third, infusion is likely to be a particularly important diffusion process for DL-technologies as compared to other innovations, because they need large data sets to function well, which can be drawn from preexisting users. Related, it seems that larger technology companies comparatively benefit more from DL-infusion, because they already have many users. This suggests that the value drawn from DL is likely to follow a Matthew Effect of accumulated advantage online: many preexisting users provide a lot of behavioral data, which bring about better DL-driven features, which attract even more users, etc. Such a self-reinforcing process could limit the possibilities for new companies to compete. Internet attacks pose a severe threat to most of the online resources and are a prime concern of security administrators these days. In spite of many efforts, the security techniques are unable to detect the intrusions accurately. Most of the methods suffer from the limitations of a high false positive rate, low detection rate and provide one solution which lacks the classification trade-offs. In this work, an effective two-stage method is proposed to produce a pool of non-dominating solutions or Pareto optimal solutions as base models and their ensembles for detecting the intrusions accurately. It generates Pareto optimal solutions to a chromosome structure in stage 1 formulating Pareto front. Whereas, another approximation to the Pareto front of optimal solutions is made to obtain non-dominating ensembles in the second stage. The final prediction ensemble solutions are computed from individual predictions using majority voting approach. Applicability of the suggested method is validated using benchmark dataset NSL-KDD dataset. The experimental results show that the recommended method provides better results than conventional ensemble techniques. The recommended method is also adequate to generate Pareto optimal solutions that address the issue of improving detection accuracy for minority as well as majority attack classes along with handling classification tradeoff problem. The proposed method resulted detection accuracy of 97% with FPR of 2% for KDD dataset respectively. The most attractive feature of the proposed method is that both generation of base classifier and their ensemble thereof are multi-objective in nature addressing the issue of low detection accuracy and classification tradeoffs. 相似文献

The Military Utility Assessment of Future Technologies (MUAFT) method was developed as a cost-efficient alternative to methods such as NATO's Disruptive Technology Assessment Games, to be used as a part of the Swedish Armed Forces' long-term capability development process. The question addressed in this study is whether MUAFT can be considered to have validity in its context and thus if it has potential to be useful to other small to medium size states. The analysis was based on an operationalization of Clark's framework for science and technology intelligence analysis, combined with a military capability centric view of military utility. MUAFT reports from 2012 to 2018 were reviewed in terms of how they satisfy five key criteria. The study shows that MUAFT provides utility, if used by a suitably composed group of experts, who are aware of the method's limitations. The limitations mainly originate from a lack of explicit support for assessing the impact of forces for change, other than technological forces, on military capability development. The expert group serves as the synthesizing bridge between technology forecasts and military utility assessments. Therefore, comprehensive expertise is needed in various military technology specialisations, in the sponsor's military capabilities and in subjects necessary to master in order to assess other influential societal forces for change. 相似文献

针对高考志愿填报录取最优化、最佳匹配问题,提出了基于遗传算法搜索最优解的解决方案。该方案模拟物种自然选择和遗传进化过程,将不同考生的高考志愿按录取结果利益最大化进行排序。在可选择院校数量相同的情况下,对不同考生考试成绩的数据通过程序不断进行智能优化和迭代,志愿排序结果趋于稳定,且达到最佳匹配。其不但满足考生的实际需求,而且达到志愿填报利益最大化的目的。该方法采用涵盖985、211、普通院校的10所高校的实际数据进行测试,结果表明,遗传算法可以用来求解最优高考志愿填报排序问题,且具有很高的准确率和适应度。 相似文献

In the era of digitalization, there are many emerging technologies, such as the Internet of Things (IoT), Digital Twin (DT), Cloud Computing and Artificial Intelligence (AI), which are quickly developped and used in product design and development. Among those technologies, DT is one promising technology which has been widely used in different industries, especially manufacturing, to monitor the performance, optimize the progresses, simulate the results and predict the potential errors. DT also plays various roles within the whole product lifecycle from design, manufacturing, delivery, use and end-of-life. With the growing demands of individualized products and implementation of Industry 4.0, DT can provide an effective solution for future product design, development and innovation. This paper aims to figure out the current states of DT research focusing on product design and development through summarizing typical industrial cases. Much has been said about the fusion of bio-inspired optimization algorithms and Deep Learning models for several purposes: from the discovery of network topologies and hyperparametric configurations with improved performance for a given task, to the optimization of the model’s parameters as a replacement for gradient-based solvers. Indeed, the literature is rich in proposals showcasing the application of assorted nature-inspired approaches for these tasks. In this work we comprehensively review and critically examine contributions made so far based on three axes, each addressing a fundamental question in this research avenue: (a) optimization and taxonomy (Why?), including a historical perspective, definitions of optimization problems in Deep Learning, and a taxonomy associated with an in-depth analysis of the literature, (b) critical methodological analysis (How?), which together with two case studies, allows us to address learned lessons and recommendations for good practices following the analysis of the literature, and (c) challenges and new directions of research (What can be done, and what for?). In summary, three axes – optimization and taxonomy, critical analysis, and challenges – which outline a complete vision of a merger of two technologies drawing up an exciting future for this area of fusion research. 相似文献
