Renewable energy resources, such as wind, are available worldwide. Locating areas with high and continual wind sources are crucial in pre-planning of wind farms. Vast offshore areas are characterized by higher and more reliable wind resources in comparison with continental areas. However, offshore wind energy production is in a quite preliminary phase. Elaborating the potential productivity of wind farms over such areas is challenging due to sparse in situ observations. The Mediterranean basin is not an exception. In this study we are proposing numerical simulations of near-surface wind fields from regional climate models (RCMs) in order to obtain and fill the gaps in observations over the Mediterranean basin. Four simulations produced with two regional climate models are examined here. Remote sensing observations (QuikSCAT satellite) are used to assess the skill of the simulated fields. A technique for estimating the potential energy from the wind fields over the region is introduced. The wind energy potential atlas and the map of a wind turbine's functional range are presented, locating the potentially interesting sub-regions for wind farms. The ability of models to reproduce the annual cycle and the probability density function of wind speed anomalies are detailed for specified sub-regions. 相似文献

ABSTRACT: Kohlrabi stems (without leaves) were stored under modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) for 60 d at 0 °C. An additional retail sale period of 3 d at 12 °C after each cold storage evaluation (30 and 60 d) was applied. Under high relative humidity (RH) and 0 °C, the stems showed low metabolic activity, as no changes in sugars and organic acids were found. From day 21 at 0 °C, air-stored stems showed a yellowing of stalks and later they fell down. This disorder severely affected the appearance of stems. A gas composition of 4.5 to 5.5 kPa O2 plus 11 to 12 kPa CO2 was reached using antimist oriented polypropylene plastic bags of 20-μm thicknesses. The stems in MAP conditions kept a high sensorial quality. It was enough for commercial purpose of 2 mo. The storage of kohlrabi stems in plastic bags, either MA or in perforated (control) packages, provided an additional protection reducing physical damage. The MAP conditions delayed the weight loss and development of bacterial soft and black rot, extending the shelf life of kohlrabi stems to 60 d at 0 °C plus 3 d at 12 °C. Pork forelegs were used for manufacturing fresh sausages, treated with different natural antioxidants (rosemary, ascorbic acid and black pepper), packaged in 80% O2 + 20% CO2 atmosphere and displayed at 2 ± 1 °C under different lightings (darkness, standard fluorescent, low-UV colour-balanced lamp and standard fluorescent plus a UV-filter). Two packs for each treatment were opened every 4 days for subsequent analysis of colour CIE L∗, a∗, b∗, TBARS, microbial psychrotrophic aerobes and sensory discolouration and off-odour. Lighting with standard fluorescent was highly deleterious for sausage display life, which fell from 12 to 8 days due mainly to early discolouration. Inserting a UV-filter extended display life to 12 days, while the use of a low-UV lamp was not effective in protecting from discolouration. Addition of rosemary plus ascorbic acid, in the absence of black pepper, retarded discolouration only in sausages illuminated with the UV-filter, reaching a display life of 16 days, equal to that of sausages maintained in the dark. 相似文献
