Cigarette smoke contains a large number of chemicals and gaseous compounds including polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). Due to the importance of PAHs and their health effects in cigarettes, development of systems to analyze PAHs in cigarette smoke may become useful in developing a less harmful product. However, the complexity of cigarette smoke chemistry remains a significant obstacle in its analysis: many cigarette smoke components are produced due to reactions such as decomposition and recombination of cigarette components during the smoking process. Methods to analyze these reactions in real-time are needed. In this article the authors report direct monitoring of pyrene in mainstream smoke using time-gated laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) based on fiber optics. The time-gated detection system could provide a reduced background signal of mainstream smoke when using optimized gate delay and gate width parameters. The results demonstrate the feasibility of direct monitoring of PAHs in mainstream smoke. 相似文献

A heat pipe type adsorption ice maker with two adsorbers for fishing boats is designed by using ammonia as refrigerant and compound of activated carbon-CaCl2 as adsorbent. This type of heat pipe adsorber can solve the problem of incompatibility between ammonia, copper, seawater and steel. The working process of the ice maker with 8.7kg adsorbent per bed is simulated. The results show that the optimal semi-cycle time is about 9 min at the evaporating temperature of -15℃, where the corresponding cooling power, specific cooling power per kilogram adsorbent SCP and coefficient of refrigerant performance COP are respectively 3.6kW, 217W·kg-1 and 0.404. 相似文献

Although the effects of cigarette smoking on several dental problems have been widely studied, the association between tobacco exposure and resin-ceramic bonding is rarely reported. This study investigated the resin-ceramic adhesion (shear bond strength, SBS) and associated risk factors on three selected dental CAD/CAM ceramics using a novel model to simulate the exposure to cigarette smoking. Specimens from IPS e.max® CAD, Vitabloc® Mark II for Cerec and Zirconia Cercon were prepared and treated using silicacoating and silane. A layer of resin cement was applied on the treated ceramic surfaces and light activated. Specimens were placed in a chamber and challenged with various numbers of cigarettes (0, 1, 5, 10, and 15). Then, the specimens were subjected to SBS test and fractured surfaces were examined using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy-dispersive X-ray spectrometry (EDX) to determine the failure mode and surface composition. Overall, the mean SBS of IPS e.max® CAD (9.6 ± 3.4 MPa), Vitabloc® Mark II for Cerec (9.3 ± 2.5 MPa) and Zirconia Cercon (8.7 ± 3.0 MPa) did not show any statistical significant difference (p = 0.192 > 0.05), such that the adhesion of resin bonded to glass-based ceramics (IPS e.max® CAD and Vitabloc® Mark II for Cerec) decreased with cigarette smoke exposure, but increased for the resin bonded to zirconia ceramic (Zirconia Cercon). Furthermore, the number of cigarettes has a statistically significant effect on the SBS (p = 0.001), such that in general 5 cigarettes yielded the lowest mean SBS (7.6 ± 2.1 MPa). SEM-EDX analyses showed mostly adhesive failures in all experimental groups with changes in surface morphology and chemical composition after smoking challenge. Cigarette smoking produces a different effect on resin-ceramic bonding depending on ceramic type that may be due to chemical reactions in the bonding interface and changes in temperature and moisture. Further work should explore the mechanism to which cigarette smoke affects the resin-ceramic bonding and its clinical relevance. 相似文献

This work presents the turning process of AISI H13 hardened steel with the PCBN 7025 tool, considering six output variables: tool life, machining total cost, surface roughness, machining force, sound pressure level, and specific cutting energy. Several problems are encountered in engineering processes that have adverse effects on the reliability of complex engineering systems. Hence, the aim of this work is to optimize the hardened steel turning process by applying mathematical methods to reduce dimensionality and eliminate the correlation between the multiple responses. The resultant latent response surfaces and their respective targets constitute the normalized multivariate mean square error (MMSE) function that is minimized by the normal boundary intersection (NBI) method. Furthermore, a fuzzy algorithm is applied to identify the best solution from several feasible solutions of the Pareto frontier that is compared with the performances of normalized normal constraint, arc homotopy length, global criterion method, and desirability method. The results show that NBI-MMSE has a higher performance than the other methods. In addition, NBI-MMSE is tested with benchmark functions to evaluate its effectiveness and robustness. Therefore, NBI-MMSE identifies the dynamics of the turning process of AISI H13 steel by revealing the optimal solutions for the input process parameters. 相似文献

In evolutionary multi-objective optimization (EMO) the aim is to find a set of Pareto-optimal solutions. Such approach may be applied to multiple real-life problems, including weather routing (WR) of ships. The route should be optimal in terms of passage time, fuel consumption and safety of crew and cargo while taking into account dynamically changing weather conditions. Additionally it must not violate any navigational constraints (neither static nor dynamic). Since the resulting non-dominated solutions might be numerous, some user support must be provided to enable the decision maker (DM) selecting a single “best” solution. Commonly, multi-criteria decision making methods (MCDM) are utilized to achieve this goal with DM’s preferences defined a posteriori. Another approach is to apply DM’s preferences into the very process of finding Pareto-optimal solutions, which is referred to as preference-based EMO. Here the Pareto-set is limited to those solutions, which are compliant with the pre-configured user preferences. The paper presents a new tradeoff-based EMO approach utilizing configurable weight intervals assigned to all objectives. The proposed method has been applied to ship WR problem and compared with a popular reference point method: r-dominance. Presented results prove applicability and competitiveness of the proposed method to solving multi-objective WR problem. 相似文献
