In this paper, the air-fuel mixing and combustion in a small-bore direct injection optical diesel engine were studied for a retarded single injection strategy. The effects of injection pressure and timing were analyzed based on in-cylinder heat release analysis, liquid fuel and vapor fuel imaging by Laser induced exciplex fluorescence technique, and combustion process visualization. NOx emissions were measured in the exhaust pipe. Results show that increasing injection pressure benefits soot reduction while increases NOx emissions. Retarding injection timing leads to simultaneous reduction of soot and NOx emissions with premixed homogeneous charge compression ignition (HCCI) like combustion modes. The vapor distribution in the cylinder is relatively homogeneous, which confirms the observation of premixed combustion in the current studies. The postulated path of these combustion modes were analyzed and discussed on the equivalence ratio-temperature map. 相似文献

In this article, the combination of silicone rubber (SR) elastomer with synthetic iron montmorillonite (Fe‐MMT) to form a kind of new flame‐retardant system based on an ethylene–vinyl acetate (EVA) copolymer is first reported. Also, the flame retardancy of the EVA/SR/Fe‐MMT hybrid are compared with that of EVA/SR/natural sodium montmorillonite. The structures of the nanocomposites were characterized with X‐ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy. Cone calorimeter tests and thermogravimetric analysis were used to evaluate the flame‐retardant properties and thermal stability of the composites, respectively. In addition, tensile tests were carried out with a universal testing machine, and the morphology of the fracture surface was observed with environmental scanning electron microscopy. We found that SR/organophilic montmorillonite (Fe‐OMT) was more effective in reducing the primary peak heat release rate of the nanocomposite, and the EVA/SR/Fe‐OMT hybrid had a higher thermal stability in the deacetylated polymer than EVA/SR/sodium organophilic montmorillonite. Moreover, the exfoliated EVA/SR/Fe‐OMT nanocomposite displayed excellent mechanical properties because of a better dispersion of Fe‐OMT in the polymer matrix, and a possible mechanism is discussed. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Butadiene‐rubber toughened styrene polymers, such as acrylonitrile‐butadiene‐styrene (ABS) copolymer and high impact polystyrene (HIPS), are noncharring polymers. They are generally blended with polycarbonate (PC) or polyphenyleneether (PPE), which are char forming polymers, to improve char forming ability for styrenic blends containing conventional phosphate flame retardants. To achieve cost effective flame retardant system, PET was selected as a potential char‐source for ABS blends through the thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and chemical structure analysis of various polymers. PET may contribute to the enhancement of flame retardancy of ABS/PET blends, especially in the presence of small amounts of phenol novolac (PN). The present paper reports the effects of N2 addition and preheating of reactants on bluff-body stabilized coaxial LPG jet diffusion flame for two cases, namely, (I)
preheated air and (II) preheated air and fuel. Experimental results confirm that N2 addition to the fuel stream leads to an enhancement in flame length, which may be attributed to the reduction in flame temperature.
The soot free length fraction (SFLF) also increases, which might be caused by the decrease in fuel concentration and flame
temperature. The flame length and also the SFLF are observed to be reduced with increasing temperature of reactants and lip
thickness of the bluff body. The NO
x
emission level for all burner configurations are found to be attenuated with nitrogen addition, which can be attributed to
the reduction of the residence time of the gas mixture in the flame. The emission index of NO
x
(EINO
x
) also becomes enhanced with increasing lip thickness and reactant temperature due to an increased residence time and thermal
effect, respectively.

The laminar flame velocity of a synthetic gas is calculated numerically with PREMIX and is compared to methane laminar flame velocity. The calculations are performed at different equivalence ratios, initial mixture temperatures and pressures. For each fuel, a correlation for the laminar flame velocity is presented in the form . The low heating value syngas yields a slower laminar flame velocity than methane, especially around stoichiometry. The laminar flame velocities of methane and wood residue syngas react similarly to the effect of pressure, while numerical results suggest that the laminar flame velocity of syngas is more sensitive to the increase of mixture initial temperature. 相似文献

Seven species of teleost fishes comprising major prey of northwest Atlantic harbor seals were analyzed for polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs). PBDE concentrations in whole fish samples (n = 87) were compared with those measured previously in harbor seal blubber to evaluate the transfer of PBDEs from prey to predator. Hexabromocyclododecane (HBCD) concentrations were measured in three fish species to provide an initial estimation of HBCD contamination in this ecosystem. HBCD was detected in 87% of the fish samples at concentrations ranging from 2.4 to 38.1 ng/g, lw (overall mean 17.2 ± 10.2 ng/g, lw). ∑PBDE concentrations in fish ranged from 17.9 to 94 ng/g, lw (overall mean 62 ± 34 ng/g, lw). ∑PBDE concentrations in the harbor seals were two orders of magnitude higher than levels in the fish. Biomagnification factors (BMFs) from fish to seals averaged from 17 to 76, indicating that tetra- to hexa-BDEs are highly biomagnified in this marine food web. BDE-47 was the dominant congener in all samples, suggesting exposure to the penta-BDE mixture. The presence of higher brominated congeners including BDE-209 at measurable levels in fish and seal tissue, along with the very high biomagnification of BDE-153, as well as − 155, and − 154, suggests recent exposure to the octa- and deca-BDE formulations in this US coastal marine food web, as well as the additional contribution of BDE-209 debromination in fish to the loading of persistent PBDEs in the seals. This is the first study to report the occurrence of BDE-209 and other higher BDEs in commercially important marine fishes from the northwest Atlantic. 相似文献
