Trunk kinematics variables have been shown to be related to low back injury risk during lifting tasks and it was hypothesised that changes in hand-hold positions could influence trunk kinematics and thereby risk. Fourteen subjects lifted a 5 or 10 kg box using four different hand placement locations (two symmetric and two asymmetric) while their trunk kinematics (position, velocity and acceleration in the sagittal, coronal and transverse planes) were captured using the lumbar motion monitor (LMM). These kinematics data were then used to calculate the probability of high risk group membership (PHRGM) as defined in the LMM risk assessment model. The results showed significant effects of hand placement on trunk kinematics, resulting in significant changes in the PHRGM variable ranging from a low of 20% in a the symmetric low load condition to a high of 38% under the asymmetric, 10 kg condition.

Statement of Relevance: Manual materials handlers use a variety of hand-hold positions on boxes during lifting. Where a lifter grabs the box can influence the trunk kinematics during the lifting task and these kinematics have been shown to provide some insight into risk of low back injury. This study documents the trunk postures and kinematics as a function of hand-hold position.  相似文献

The goal of this study was to quantify localised muscle fatigue resulting from low mean levels of exertion in younger (< 40 years) and older (>50 years) adults. Fatigue, elicited in the finger flexor muscles by intermittent (10% mean maximum voluntary contraction (MVC)) and sustained (8% MVC) handgrip exercises, was quantified by a muscle twitch force response before, immediately after and during 3 h following exercise. Despite greater mean loads, recovery time was shorter following intermittent than sustained contractions, which suggests that recovery from fatigue is more sensitive to rest within the work cycle than mean work. The more pronounced effects for younger than older individuals following the sustained exertion indicate that changes in muscle fibre type composition might predispose older individuals to be more resistant to fatigue resulting from sustained contractions of low level. Performing hand exertion tasks requiring low mean force levels contributes to similar long-lasting fatigue effects regardless of gender and age. Intermittent periods of complete rest reduce muscle fatigue. Since fatigue was not perceived during recovery from the tested sustained and intermittent contractions, subjective evaluations may not be a reliable indicator of localised muscle fatigue.  相似文献

在Visual Studio 2010开发环境中以C++为编程语言,使用计算机视觉计算中的开源OpenCV库处理图像,判定手势运动方向,构造基于视觉手势识别技术的智能窗帘系统。通过调用Windows API函数实现PC与LPC2131之间的串口通信,从而通过控制步进电机的转动方向来实现窗帘的打开和关闭操作。系统具有人机交互界面良好、操作简单、窗帘的长度可自行设定等优点。  相似文献

针对末端夹持激光位移传感器的机器人TCF(tool/terminal control frame)标定,提出一种基于平面模板的标定方法,机器人操作末端执行器使激光位移传感器在不同位形下对平面模板进行测量,再通过非线性最小二乘拟合求解标定参数.为了减小问题的奇异性,对标定时应该采取的参数控制策略进行了定性分析.该标定方法只需要一块表面精度较高的平面模板,而无需其它测量仪器,标定过程简单、易操作,且易于实现自动化.仿真和实验结果表明本文提出的标定方法具有较高的精度.  相似文献

An adaptive workload balancing scheme is analyzed. This scheme is intended to automatically dissolve the imbalance in resource utilization of computing systems and to bring about the proper balance between throughput and turnaround time. This is done by means of the invisible hand due to the bidding of priorities of resource use, with no contradiction between the flexible bid for each resource and the stable price for the entire service. The result of this analysis shows that this scheme would regulate those imbalances, and that it includes the load balancing policy of IBM OS/VS2-2 as a special case. Sixteen sifakas (11 Propithecus verreauxi coquereli, 2 Propithecus verreauxi verreauxi form majori, and 3 Propithecus tattersalli) were videotaped as they fed on leaves in an arboreal context. The hand used to feed and the hand used to maintain postural stability was coded. For each subject, the lateral bias of the hand used to feed was opposite the hand used in postural support. Seven sifakas displayed no bias for feeding or posture-related hand use, 7 sifakas displayed significant feeding-related reach preferences for pulling branches to the mouth (5 left- and 2 right-hand preferences), and 9 sifakas exhibited significant hand preferences for postural support (2 left-, 7 right-hand preferent). Although these data do not strongly support the postural origins theory of behavioral lateralization, the modal preference pattern for sifakas that displayed significant hand preferences for posture and feeding involve a left bias for feeding and a right bias for postural support.
