The static and dynamic properties of solutions of a side chain polysiloxane liquid crystal polymer have been studied in a cyanobiphenyl nematic host as a function of concentration and temperature. Refractive index measurements were carried out on aligned samples and the data used to determine the macroscopic order parameter, S, using Haller's method. Photon correlation spectroscopy has been used to measure (k22γ1) for the pure nematic solvent and the solutions. From these measurements it appears that the static properties vary slowly and linearly with increasing polymer concentration whilst the dynamic or viscoelastic properties change markedly. This change has been attributed to γ1, the twist viscosity, and the results have been discussed in terms of the function of the siloxane polymer backbone.  相似文献

A terahertz time-domain spectroscopy(THz-TDS)imaging system can obtain high-dimensional signals with substance fingerprint information.By introducing geometric algebra,a novel signal analysis approach to THz-TDS signals is developed based on an optical physical mechanism.Using this approach,signals are represented with vectors in the high-dimensional real vector space.Geometric distribution properties and algebraic relationships of THz-TDS signals are deduced.It is proved that every complex refractive index of substances relates to a unique 2-blade,the vectors corresponding to the samples of the same substance are collinear and belong to the intrinsic 2-blade of the substance.When decomposed through the conformal split with respect to a 2-blade,THz-TDS signals of high dimensionality can be related to vectors in a 2-dimensional subspace.Based on the conformal split properties we deduced,two criteria for substance identification on the basis of THz-TDS signals are proposed.Accordingly,a novel substance identification method via the conformal split is presented.In the method,the 2-blade related to each "known" substance is calculated with two vectors corresponding to THz-TDS signals measured from samples of the substance but with dierent thicknesses.Using the conformal split with respect to those 2-blades,an identified vector corresponding to a THz-TDS signal is linearly related to the vector in a 2-dimensional subspace.The substance of a sample can be identified using criteria on the projected vectors in the subspaces.This method can contribute to accurate classification and identification.Finally,two experiments are presented that show the feasibility and accuracy of this method.  相似文献

This study considers a flowshop type production system consisting of m machines. A material handling robot transports the parts between the machines and loads and unloads the machines. We consider the sequencing of the robot moves and determining the speeds of these moves simultaneously. These decisions affect both the robot’s energy consumption and the production speed of the system. In this study, these two objectives are considered simultaneously. We propose a second order cone programming formulation to find Pareto efficient solutions. We also develop a heuristic algorithm that finds a set of approximate Pareto efficient solutions. The conic formulation can find robot schedules for small cells with less number of machines in reasonable computation times. Our heuristic algorithm can generate a large set of approximate Pareto efficient solutions in a very short computational time. Proposed solution approaches help the decision-maker to achieve the best trade-off between the throughput of a cell and the energy efficiency of a material handling robot.  相似文献

The specific heat at constant pressure, C p, of aluminum measured by Ditmars, Plint, and Shukla has been reduced to the volume V 0 appropriate for 0 K employing the Murnaghan equation. The C v0 thus obtained is compared with the theoretical C v0 calculated in the harmonic and the lowest-order anharmonic approximation from three different pseudopotentials (Harrison, Ashcroft, and Dagens-Rasolt-Taylor) as well as a phenomenological Morse potential. The higher-order ( 4) anharmonic contributions are calculated from the same nearest-neighbor Morse potential as in the lowest-order anharmonic theory. The role of the vacancy and the higher-order anharmonic contributions to C v0 has been examined and we conclude that the 4 contributions to C v0 are much smaller than the vacancy contribution. After removal of the vacancy contribution, the reduced C v0 is found to be in excellent agreement with the Ashcroft and Harrison pseudopotentials as well as the Morse potential including the 2 and 4 contributions to C v0.  相似文献

This paper addresses the problem of designing controllers that are robust to a great uncertainty in a time constant of the plant. Plants must be represented by minimum phase rational transfer functions of an arbitrary order. The design specifications are: (1) a phase margin for the nominal plant, (2) a gain crossover frequency for the nominal plant, (3) zero steady state error to step commands, and (4) a constant phase margin for all the possible values of the time constant (TT): 0<T<∞0<T<. We propose a theorem that defines the structure of the set of controllers that fulfil these specifications and show that it is necessary for these robust controllers to include a fractional-order PIPI term. Examples are developed for both stable and unstable plants, and the results are compared with a standard PIPI controller and a robust controller designed using the QFTQFT methodology.  相似文献

Approximations for general fractional order dynamic systems are of much theoretical and practical interest. In this paper, a new approximate method for fractional order integrator is proposed. The poles of the approximate model are unrelated to the order of integrator. This feature shows benefits on extending the algorithm to the systems containing various fractional orders. Then a unified approximate method is derived for general fractional order linear or nonlinear dynamic systems via combining the proposed new method with the distributed frequency model approach. Numerical examples are given to show the wide applicability of our method and to illustrate the acceptable accuracy for approximations as well.  相似文献

Texture analysis based on textons is extended by introducing a method for computing textons of arbitrary order. First-, second- and third-order textons are applied to classify screening mammograms as to indicate a low or high risk of breast cancer. First-order textons are found to provide better estimates of breast cancer risk than other orders on their own but the combination of first- and second-order textons outperforms first-order textons alone and other combinations of two orders. Combining all three orders of textons does not improve classification. This example indicates that including higher-order textons has the potential to improve classification performance.  相似文献
